KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
caulfield12 replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The odds here are about the same in terms of getting rid of JR/KW/Hahn. The only Supreme Court justice to be impeached by the House of Representatives was Samuel Chase in 1804. He was accused of allowing his political bias to influence his decision on the high court. The final straw came in 1803, when he chastised a U.S. circuit court in Maryland. He gave a grand jury charge after the court granted universal male suffrage. Chase also condemned the court for repealing the Judiciary Act of 1801. The House voted to impeach Chase in March of 1804. During his trial before the Senate in 1805, Chase argued that he could only be removed from the bench for an indictable offense, not for judgement errors or behavior. The Senate agreed and he was exonerated. -

Narvaez was well over 2, and Avi was in 2018. Odds are the "Sox exiles" are more like the lions than the Christians in Rome. -

I really don't think you have enough energy to sustain that storyline for another 12 months...even then, the responses will be, Bumgarner's arm/shoulder/elbow will fall off (another Peavy or Danks, basically) and Goldschmidt will suddenly lose his bat speed converting to the AL and turn into Adam Dunn Version 2.0. -

Watch the Phillies double down and bring in Trout after 2020...they REALLY have a future to be excited about now, going into that off-season as at least a 50/50 shot at him, with the Yankees and Angels being two other logical landing points. -
So basically, something they haven't managed to accomplish since the 2004-2005 seasons...or at the very least, Danks/Floyd/Alexei/Ramirez/Dotel/Linebrink in 2007/08. Gotta love the odds there. (No, Robertson/Cabrera/LaRoche/Beckham/Bonifacio and whatever veteran garbage catcher we probably added doesn't count.)

Sure, if you can manage to acquire a 51% management stake by buying out other owners...probably need somewhere in the vicinity of $800 million, maybe $900 million....although the way things are going since last Tuesday, they might have to settle for $700-750 million and be happy. At least the executives with the Cubs' Network can enjoy a sigh of relief and know there will be no pressure on their subscription prices coming from the Sox...they'll be the only game in town for at least the next two years, if not three. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/bryce-harpers-deal-phillies-made-internet-lose-mind-215416918.html At least the Philly fanbase can go nuts...and the Nationals' fanbase, booing him. That makes for really exciting races in the NL East, NL Central, AL East and eventually the NL West when the Padres' prospects all start to hit the big leagues (not to mention the Rockies just extended Arenado). ESPN will be elated with both the AL East and NL East being powerhouse divisions with lots of compelling storylines. -

If we approach it like Hahn and JR, then we should be able to get the Sox for a bargain price...since they've pretty much destroyed their remaining fanbase, t.v. and radio ratings, ticket sales, etc. Distressed assets...that's a specialty of Warren Buffett and Berkshire-Hathaway. And, on the plus side, they've got a very clean balance sheet from 2020 onwards....especially after they dump Abreu on someone. -

Send Alita: Battle Angel after him...the "Hunter/Warriors" Somehow it's more fun to be joking about this than threatening someone that gets the Secret Service out doing an investigation, but hopefully the rhetoric will cool down in a minute. That said, if KW had to get personal bodyguards after all this...and it came out in the media...it would ALMOST be worth it. But we're supposed to be better than that as a fanbase, right? Or did JW and KW lose that right/privilege with their actions/non-actions in the last 2-3 weeks??? -

Or if we finish in 4th or 5th place in 2019/20, he really needs to go to Toronto. Of course, they probably wouldn't take him anymore and that would be a bit of a prize, all things considered. -

And the aging curves for ballplayers in the non-steroid era? KW must believe he's still in 1998 and McGwire/Sosa are batting it out for the home run title in the late days of August. -

Countdown until Rick Renteria is fired, a second time by a Chicago team... What would be especially hilarious would be if Vizquel or McEwing or Justin Jirschele refused to take over in-season, but that of course means we'd be stuck with irascible Don Cooper, which would mean even more fanbase insults. Steverson getting fired will just make everyone laugh collectively. -

Or raid the offices of the Indians and Twins (scouts from back when Terry Ryan was running things well in the 2002-2010 period). -

They hired DiPodesta....got rid of the conflict between Jackson and his GM, the owner finally decided to stop intervening and let the professionals handle things. All signs of a willingness to admit what wasn't working before needed to be thrown out. -

About time for a class-action lawsuit, which will inevitably lose but provide some fodder to the media... -

I personally think it's better that we get out in front of the obvious elephant in the room before cartoons of JR bathing/basking in buckets of gold and money gets to be the norm...I'm not going to defend him or Hahn, but we're better as a fanbase than resorting to the lowest common denominator. I'm not talking about SoxTalk per se, as much as some of the comments I'm reading at "national" articles or other internet sites without the diehard fan base. -

So basically, with those words, you've just vanquished any hopes of this franchise really making a run at it with the same ownership and KW/RH still around...brilliant marketing technique, Brooks Boyer must be sporting the same shell-shocked look Sean Spicer did in early 2017. And admitted that the Padres kicked your butts yet again, this time in a completely different manner. -
Not if Chris Sale cuts and slashes them all up first.

Jerry is coming back to install Gandhian non- violence in the fanbase protests?

Bring back Dallas Comegys, Mark Aguirre and Tyrone Corbin.

Don’t forget the boat, bait and harpoon...and don’t go out in the exact opposite conditions of A PERFECT STORM and come back empty-handed. Or bring back all the whale’s friends, but no actual whale. We went for Nemo, and ended up with Dory instead, no disrespect to Ellen’s voice acting intended.

MVP Sports Group is based out of LA, just down the road from SD on the freeway...unless he has residence in another state for tax purposes, probably somewhere like South Dakota.

Why you should not want Reinsdorf to sell the SOX

Stockholm Syndrome...brainwashed by Hahn/Tony Robbins-Speak. That’s the only remotely plausible explanation.
