Would put it 40% Nats/Phillies, 20% Dodgers (or Cubs)

Whenever I see this name, it makes me think of Tom Hardy now...or you're a snake/scorpion trainer, lol?

2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread

He'll also get a really good feel for the city of Chicago during the summertime...and have some opportunities to interact with his White Sox friends when the Sox and Cubs are both in town the same day. Positive thinking. -

https://www.foxsports.com/wisconsin/gallery/midweek-stock-report-milwaukee-brewers-2019-rotation-102418 Anderson, Chacin, Burnes, Peralta, Davies, Nelson...Woodruff and Junior Guerra, not to mention #8 prospect Zack Brown. But no superstar/ace there. Tons of depth, though. 9 Names!!!!!! -
Just goes to show how desperate Sox fans are for a franchise-defining superstar (homegrown or not.)

Maybe we need to carpetbomb Comcast/Universal front office execs with that one...in all seriousness, they have just as much to gain from one of the two whales signing as anyone (other than Reinsdorf/shareholders). By the way, Grandal to the Brewers really puts the pressure on the Cubs to respond somehow...guess we'll hear a lot more Harper/Heyward rumors in the coming days.

Did Roeper follow up on his tweet? At this point, might as well make a mini-documentary for MLB Network of the high's and low's of this process for the fans of all the teams involved, especially the White Sox and Phillies.

Dan Clark has already purchased 10-12 of Greg's houses in Topeka/Lawrence/Metro KC area.

Rooting for the Chiefs is pretty much like rooting for the 1980's Miami Dolphins with Dan Marino and Duper/Clayton...lots of excitement, but lacking the defense to win the Super Bowl more than once.

Significantly better than a Family Truckster, though. -
Oh my god, Cashman's such an idiot he's actually negotiating against himself. Yeah, that's highly likely!

Jesus of Nazareth, this is getting incredibly annoying. Just do SOMETHING, one way or the other.

If the Yankees had the highest offer, the contract would already be signed, sealed and delivered. Unless it's completely back-loaded, where he gets a pittance the first 3-4 years and limited or mutual opt-outs. Isn't this guy physically IN Australia right now? Or he's just FROM Australia?

If all else fails, the White Sox can sign Mahomes as their own two-way player and put him in the bullpen. His dad was a pretty good reliever for the Twins and a host of other teams. KW always gets his man!

Fwiw, with how well the Colts looked in the first half of that Wild Card game...and how shaky Kansas City's defense has been (see Oklahoma Sooners, 2016-2018)...anything's possible. What's the weather forecast? If KC has to go to the running game because of inclement weather, not having their best back is going to have consequences. By and large, they've been able to get away with it...but there are so many ghosts of the past hovering around Arrowhead, it almost seems like Chiefs' fans would have to go into it betting on the Colts but also simultaneously hoping to lose those bets (feeling that either way, they got something out of it).

Sox Sign Jon Jay; 1 year/$4 mil, Charlie Tilson DFA'd
caulfield12 replied to soxfan49's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We can make that $1 million up by selling Alonso and Jay jerseys...assuming Machado signs, they'll get as much credit as anyone for making it happen. (On second thought, I don't know of ANYONE buying Michael Ynoa jerseys because he helped recruit Luis Robert.) That said, this will be the biggest announcement by the Sox in over two decades. -
Please delete this post, lol. All of Kansas City will hold you responsible if you just jinxed another playoff appearance. They're getting to be like the Atlanta Braves or Browns/Bills when it comes to the post-season.

Thank god we didn't end up with Cespedes or Gordon. That's the scary part with these big contracts, and those were not even close to the financial commitment this one's going to end up as. At a certain point, you just have to take a leap of faith and "go for it!" on a player at that age and talent level, whether it's Harper or Machado, that's a decision that most GM's would make 98 times out of 100 if it made so much sense to the franchise from a financial and marketing perspective. Philly and Chicago are the two teams that failing to strike with either player will be incredibly demoralizing...especially Philly, because they're even closer to contention but they've also got a number of teams blocking their future path.

Anyone else being superstitious?

Chicago deserves some really positive news this week, right? -
I just don't see Philadelphia making sense if Harper's likely (or possibly, who knows) going back to Washington (and maybe keeping Rendon in that case as well)...and Atlanta being on the cusp of having a mini-dynasty in terms of their talent level coming up, especially on the pitching side. Philadelphia just doesn't have enough pieces in place offensively to be the type of team that's set up to dominate for 3-4 years, and Arrieta's getting long in the tooth as well. Sure, they have Nola, but how much better can he realistically be than over the last couple of seasons? Other than stupid money, what's the argument for Philly? Plus, he's already comfortable in the AL and familiar with all the pitchers. Simply the fact that they were in first place or hovering near the top of the division for most of 2018? His desire to pass Donovan McNabb, Joel Embiid, Rocky or Dr. J in Philly Lore?

Who's going to be the first one to deluge Roeper's social media account or try to set up an interview with him to "clarify" his leak about Sox Fest being off the chain and breaking the internet (no clapping back, though)?

https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-should-sign-manny-machado/c-302495484?tid=282421090 Yanks will regret it if they don’t sign Machado

Madrigal: BA Prospect who could move fast
caulfield12 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Beckham is the last position player to move THAT fast. Craig Biggio might be a good comp. 796 career ops, 112 ops+, 291 homers in 20 career seasons, 414 sb, obp 363 is going to be the toughest....might be a tad light on the homers as well. 4 Gold Gloves, 7 All Star teams, 5 Silver Sluggers. -
Sox could chase Moustakas If MM goes elsewhere
caulfield12 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think I would try a Japanese player FIRST...but Moustakas would be good for hawking gyros (I guess that's technically Middle Eastern, but close enough).
