Sox fire Matt Lisle/Matt Lisle quits (?)
Because the entire point of capitalism is maximizing profitability, not the greatest good for the greatest number of people (utilitarianism). But you should read Umair Haque at medium.com, the two of you are like-minded souls.

Sox fire Matt Lisle/Matt Lisle quits (?)
For all we know, Lisle was working two jobs simultaneously...his side gig of professional consulting as well as getting paid by the White Sox. Thats probably a large part of the reason he keeps moving on quickly from place to place, looking for the bigger better deal. A worker like that who is a self-promoter and overly ambitious will never fit in well with the way the White Sox operate. They will rub too many the wrong way, especially someone like Jim Thome, for example.

Even 16-22 year olds without college degrees? Even if you guarantee them $15/hour or roughly $30k per year, it’s still not an independent, livable wage outside their parents’ house. Of course, what will happen is 1/3rd of the current unskilled/retail/fast food workers will be unemployed and the rest will do 50% more work for that $15, so the operating margins would basically remain the same regardless.

Essentially, we’re arguing about Universal Basic Income at this point. But it has nothing to do with why Lisle is no longer employed by the Sox. We can also argue how the top 0.01% of the Top 10% are benefiting unfairly from the layouts of others...while the reverse argument will hold true as well, that entrepreneurs and risk-takers and visionaries are the ones who create those jobs for the rest of us, and we can either quit, stop complaining or attempt to start our own socially conscious enterprises and run them as we see fit, knowing the majority of our competition will not ever put employees first.

That’s noble enough as an individual, but impossible when you have a wife, children or parents relying on you to take care of them. That’s the world we live in, one comprised of numerous compromises, unless we just remain single our entire lives and cut all family ties.

Sure, the young people protesting in Hong Kong who can never dream of paying or saving up millions of HK dollars for an apartment. They would rather go to jail than be wage slaves without any freedoms. At any rate, disparaging your employer even via tweet doesn’t fly in corporate or non profit. Now you can argue they shouldn’t have fired him, but companies will also make someone so uncomfortable that they feel there is no other option but to quit...maybe they just start ignoring you, give you the cold shoulder, not inviting you to meetings or keeping you out of the loop deliberately.

You knew they weren’t going to make it a story again if they faced each other and Swarzak threw at him...

https://www.linkedin.com/in/coachlisle/ Scoreboard operator in Oakland for 17 years? He was the hitting analytics instructor for the Sox, btw. https://thehittingvault.com/about/ Has moved around a lot...just reading between the lines, he seems to like being the center of attention and self-promotion, which doesn’t fit the Sox style. That said, they should have known that. And if they weren’t willing to make changes in the way they teach hitting systemically across the system, why bring him in? Hitting Coach - University of Missouri Assistant Coach - South Carolina Head Coach – Menlo College Assistant Coach – Santa Clara University Assistant Coach – Cal State University – East Bay Head Coach – Gallaudet University Assistant Coach – University of Oregon Head Coach – College Park HS (DVAL Coach of the Year) Associate Scout – Detroit Tigers Professional Hitting Instructor (20+ years)

There are plenty of kids out there you can get for $300k if you outwork and out-scout everyone.

Don't forget giving away precious international slot money for nondescript prospects who will never get out of A ball.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Gennett is fine to replace Yolmer and at least offers some upside...but these last few pages read like 2014~16 mode. We had four core players...traded away young talent and got exactly nowhere with the likes of Robertson and Frazier. It even feels like Shark back then was a bigger move than anyone but Cole Strasburg Wheeler and Bumgarner this time around. And that bullpen still is shaky as long as they can't rely at all on Herrera.

https://www.kansascity.com/opinion/editorials/article234467697.html Interesting the guy already has a minority interest in the Indians. Also, a new downtown stadium in KC is rightfully not going to happen.

“Kickboxing is the sport of the future.” Lloyd Dobler, Say Anything Bonus quote: Maybe I didn’t really know you. Maybe you were just a mirage. Maybe the world is full of food and sex and spectacle and we’re all just hurling towards an acropolis, in which case it’s not your fault.

https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/jose-abreu-13653/cash-earnings/ Seems he’s made an extra $6 million or so compared to that original deal. How much of a cut will he accept from his one year deal for $16 million with his current statistical line in 2019? For example, $12.8 million would be a 20% pay cut.

8/27- Sox vs Twins, 7:10, NBCSC+
Is the goal of this game to win or lose? Osich and Herrera...who's now a "stopgap" even though he signed a two year contract that covers the time when we were theoretically supposed to be competing in 2020.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
It's much more logical to put Anderson in CF over Robert, because Luis is comfortable on both corners and that would seem to reduce the risk of injury (somewhat) as well. Anderson's bat would play much better there than at a corner. Undoubtedly won't happen anyway.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
All I know is that Anderson and Tatis are two of the best young shortstops in the game...don’t need DRS to confirm that. And Machado is more than capable of playing SS for extended periods of time. But I could also imagine Moncada/Machado/Madrigal with Eloy/Anderson/Robert or Eloy/Robert/Anderson as a potentially even more dominant lineup...which would be contingent on what kinds of jumps/reads Anderson was getting in the outfield. Since they won’t sign Rendon either, they need to invest at least $150 million into all aspects of the rotation and bullpen and hope whoever they bookend Robert with in CF doesn’t get him seriously injured out there. Imagine Jimenez and Robert meeting at full speed and extended...

Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal
Herrera?

He has played SS quite well this year, though, and also has enjoyed it.

Or the Angels back in the day with Figgins, etc. Royals won with Zobrist, too.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
While that was true, you don’t draft the most advanced collegiate hitter with the idea he’s not going to be making a pretty quick impact at his natural position. Surely the scouts weren’t going to abandon their positions based on less than a two month stretch in his draft year following a grueling college season interrupted by multiple injuries.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
The problem is that you are doing this for DiDi Gregorious...arguably, not someone like Rendon, because that would force a Yoan move to 2B or RF. It’s also not like Madrigal can play short.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Which comes first, breaking the $68 million barrier or signing a top Boras client in free agency?
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
Then why waste months and months on Machado when they already knew Moncada was moving there? The areas of opportunity are playing Russian Roulette by selecting the right free agent pitchers and also extracting value from Tier B/C positional free agents in RF and DH...not exactly their forte. Besides the fact that their biggest area of depth is minor league corner outfielders...which argues against a long term move there as well.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
And all that could have been a negotiating ploy, nobody knows for sure how legitimate it was...just like the Rangers with A-Rod. Most felt we simply were there to get used as a bogeyman to up his final contract numbers even though they were basically negotiating against themselves at that point.
