  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) They're good enough to compete for a WC spot, but still think it's the Tigers division to lose. KC is so much deeper this year than they were last year though. Depends on Moustakas, Hosmer and the back end of the rotation. So far, so good. They've stood up in the face of some good competition and held their own til this point.
  2. Yay, yet MORE bad baseball. "This isn't White Sox baseball." Farmer "It is when they're playing as bad as they have been recently." DJ At least the Indians are still worse than us, haha.
  3. "Don't tell me about the will to win. Tell me about the will to prepare." So many mental/physical/baserunning mistakes this year. We've gone from Top 1-2-3 defense to near the bottom of the league. We can't throw out anyone on the basepaths (how many runners have Sox catchers thrown out?). Hitting with RISP. Bunting. Hitting cutoff men and anticipating the "smart" baseball player...so many runners carelessly getting into 2B. Bad chemistry in the infield now with Beckham out and Keppinger exposed. It's a perfect tsunami of bad-ness.
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) Which is probably the right decision. I'd like Johnson to get more minor league seasoning. He's only pitched 31.0 innings at AA thus far. But Quintana didn't need more than one month of AA and no AAA, haha. Wouldn't mind seeing Simon Castro (aka Felix Diaz) get a shot, but it will probably be Santiago. Veal has to be getting REALLY close to DFA/Charlotte time. Who's the best option from the LH side? Purcey? Moskos, the kid we picked up from Pitt who was a 1st rounder?
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:29 PM) I'm afraid you're right. Rather see Johnson. Johnson's not ready yet. If they're really out of the division in the middle of the summer and the games are no longer as meaningful, then you can bring him up and given him starts the finally 2-3 months and set up things for 2013. Granted, it would be more FUN for us to watch anyone not named Floyd in the rotation, but that's not the criteria Hahn and Bell will choose to go with.
  6. DiMichele at .163, Hawkins at .169. Part of the Adam Dunn 100's club in the minors.
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:25 PM) does the Erik Johnson era begin? Knowing the Sox, it will be someone like Jason Berken.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:23 PM) Rios 2 for last 22...Sox need him to get back on track to salvage some of these games coming up. I know we just won 3 in a row, but this has the makings of a very long season... It's just as likely we'll be right back at five games under facing Price and Darvish the next two.
  9. More hitting there with RISP. Just what we needed...for Alex Rios to come back to earth. Dunn might be hitting, but Rios and Konerko aren't threats right now, so there's always something going awry with this line-up. Too many holes up and down to get runs consistently. Certainly not against elite pitchers.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) 3 innings, 9 hits for Santiago so far. If Axelrod goes out and beats David Price tomorrow, then fans might START to believe in him a bit.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) We're now on to player #30 on the roster, and that's with 2 guys day to day as well. The best way to help this bench would be to hire Jesus and have him wave some hands over people. You're saying Ozzie's Santeria animal sacrifices didn't work?
  12. One thing's for sure, the Tigers are beating up the best team in baseball coming into this week and the Royals are looking tough, too. OTOH, Chris Sale hasn't been up to his 2012 standard, Dunn has been terrible until recently, Viciedo/Beckham/Keppinger/Floyd injured, and the worst-case scenario is we're 3 1/2 games behind KC and 2 1/2 behind the Tigers. That said, the next week is going to be really tough and being 5-6 GB the first week of May usually spells trouble, unless it's 2010, 2003 or 1983.
  13. FWIW, the defensive positioning tonight has been way off. Everywhere Gillaspie is playing, the ball is going the opposite way...goes toward the line, the ball goes to the hole between 3B/SS. Plays off the line, the ball goes over the bag. Just one of those nights. Santiago's never been able to get into a rhythm...not unlike our offense against Moore.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 06:41 PM) How long has it been since the Sox drafted someone who they developed and that player was a solid/above average offensive player for them? Thomas and Ventura? Pretty much only Durham, Crede and Rowand.... Beckham for 4 months in 2009. Fields at the end of 2007.
  15. White Sox baseball.... "Right Price, Right Team" Goes along with the Wendy's Extra Value campaign, since they're promoting the deep season ticket discounts so much in the early going.
  16. Looks to be a flexor strain for Gavin, according to Farmer.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) Santiago not lookin' good. Not an easy situation to just be thrown into the game with no time to prepare mentally. We'll see if he can get straightened out as he goes along. As it is, we'll have a hard time just scratching a hit against Moore with this line-up.
  18. Why in God's name is DeAza missing the cutoff man? Geez. Our fundamentals are just terrible this season, compared to the first 4 1/2 months last year.
  19. Looks like Floyd's going out of the game. Seems pretty serious...could be. Santiago warming up in the bullpen. Now Hector's going to get his chance, whether the front office wants him to start or not. Geez....Beckham, Viciedo, now one of our starters (who we were potentially looking to trade at some point this year).
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 05:52 PM) This is quite the lineup the Sox have tonight facing a tough lefty. There's a good chance he gets Flowers, Danks and DeAza next inning too. At least 2/3. LOL at Farmer saying "One day, Gavin's going to figure it all out and go on cruise control and pile up win after win." Sounds like a familiar refrain....Harrelson: "Javy's got the best stuff for any .500 pitcher in baseball history."
  21. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130427 Hawkins 0/2, BB, K .172
  22. Getting more interesting. 6 for 6 in K's.
  23. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) I love how Stone has given up on making a comeback, lol. No Will to Win from Stone Pony. Probably because he knows how good Moore has been and how typical Gavin has been to start the season.
  24. Not getting how you can walk a .139 hitter with speed after you have him down in the count 0-2 and Jennings up next. At least they didn't score 2 more.
  25. Classic Dunn. Missing 2 eminently hittable pitches over the heart of the plate. Gavin, why do you keep throwing that below-average change-up when you have three other pitches that are better? Floyd just killed a double play ball and left the runner at 2nd now....chances he scores? About 85%.
