  1. We need a hit here from Konerko in the worst way to end this RISP noose around our necks.
  2. Dammit...yet another YOUK liner right at someone with RISP. Eventually, that bad luck has to turn. Thankfully, DeAza at least got back to 2nd.
  3. Definitely looked out, huge break...got him on the top of the helmet.
  4. Not exactly a textbook rundown, but we'll take it. Now let's run with the momentum and put up a 2-3 spot here.
  5. Quintana doesn't field his position well. Maybe not Clayton Richard bad, but close.
  6. Don't forget Myers conspiring to try to blow as many games as possible so he would finish those and end up with his $10 million contract for next season. The leave policy is clearly for 3 days. The only reason it's an issue with YOUK is because we lost that game in horrible fashion, but they SHOULD be taking issue with Olmedo/Ramirez/Ventura more than Youkilis.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 04:01 AM) RHP: Peavy, Floyd, Axelrod, Castro, Humber LHP: Danks, Liriano, Sale, Quintana, Santiago Those are your candidates currently on the Sox roster. Wouldn't be shocked to see Quintana or Santiago go the way of BMac. Nor would I be shocked to see Peavy or Liriano resigned. Or Floyd traded. Or Humber as a throw in. Or Danks traded. It's gonna be an interesting offseason. Danks being traded without the Sox absorbing salary coming off this injury would be more of a shock than the Marlins/Dodgers trade or Vernon Wells to the Angels.
  8. You'd have to prefer Dunn, especially at USCF. Maybe not against Scherzer and Verlander, but Porcello and Fister, definitely.
  9. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4513754.story Steve Stone hinted at this possibility as well during the broadcast yesterday. Seems like there's one more test left to pass on Monday...
  10. Still, look at DET. Swept at KC, lost 2/3 at home to the Indians, then swept in LA. 1-8 against all non-Sox teams in baseball the past two weeks. A lot of those losses were 1 run affairs, with abysmal hitting with RISP, just like us.
  11. Santiago was mostly at 93-94 and a FEW times at 95...but definitely not consistently in the mid 90's, at least not that I noticed. Maybe you were watching a different broadcast?
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) Sox need to take care of business. They control their own destiny. That's been true for 4+ months now.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) By my calculations, the Sox were 0-14 with man on 3rd during the KC series, including 8 at bats with less than two outs. Not once did they get the runner home. And the statistical average for that situation is 58%, so we should have scored at least 8 additional runs, which would have led to 2/3 and probably a sweep and 4 game leading heading into a 4 game set. Oh well, it's NEVER easy with the White Sox. If they can survive this September and make it into the playoffs somehow, anything is possible, as the Cardinals have proven twice now.
  14. Please never start Rey Olmedo in a game with playoff implications again.
  15. Good question. No idea, guess everything's still pretty much wide open with 20+ games remaining... NL would go to either Dickey or Cueto. Theoretically, Rodney could split off some votes from Price, same with Scherzer and Verlander, although Max's ERA is still high enough where it would keep him from getting really serious consideration from most voters.
  16. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings Stumbling/bumbling White Sox at 70.9%, more hapless Tigers at only 31.3%, but a lot will change this week, one way or the other. Or not. A's did pass the Sox and are getting closer to being a sure thing, but with Balt, TB and the Angels all playing well, lots of excitement in the final weeks of the season. This will be the second time in the past couple weeks that the Tigers enter a series with the White Sox coming off a 3-game sweep; they also were swept by the Royals Aug. 28-30 before sweeping the White Sox at Comerica Park.
  17. If Jackson could play SS, 3B and 2B, lol. Don't forget DeAza out at the plate, AJ picked off between 1st and 2nd when he thought he'd homered and didn't run hard out of the box...Alexei Ramirez gunned down at 3rd trying to go 1st to 3rd on Francouer. Ramirez coming through with the ONLY hit of the game with RISP and it ONLY ended up loading the bases due to Gordon's arm in LF.
  18. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) Tigers are sure doing their best to hand us this division and the Sox just don't want to grab it and run.... They can't beat ANYONE but the White Sox these days. What about the White Sox handing them a 1 1/2 game lead and more recently a tie for the lead and 7 consecutive victories over us. Each time, they've given the division lead right back almost instantly.
  19. FWIW, Mike Gellinger, one of their top scouts/front office people (can't remember his exact title, someone can look it up) had a major health scare recently...before, he was listed as something to do with scouting/video work, sometimes fill-in 1B coach. DETROIT -- Chicago White Sox assistant hitting coach Mike Gellinger has been in a Baltimore hospital since Wednesday after suffering a fall in his hotel room. Gellinger blacked out and suffered trauma to a vertebrae. He was expected to fly to Chicago on Sunday. Gellinger, a 1982 graduate of Fremd High School, was the Sox's computer systems analyst in 1997 and evolved into an assistant hitting coach with former hitting coach Greg Walker. He also managed in the Sox's minor league system. mark gonzales
  20. Glad I stayed up from 2 to 6 a.m. on a work day. STUPID STUPID WHITE SOX, Olmedo and Ventura. Oh, and Myers. ZERO confidence in Quintana beating Porcello, who has owned the Sox this season. It all comes down to Peavy vs. Fister on Tuesday. Jake's got to show up. Also, zero confidence in Liriano beating Scherzer. In a way, it's fitting, the season rides on the shoulders of Peavy and Sale. Which Verlander will show up Thurday night? Which Sale? 89-91 MPH or 92-95 MPH version?
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) If the Tigers win, Sox are in trouble. They would be 1-8 against any team NOT named White Sox the last 2 weeks.
  22. Dirks K's agianst FRIERI with a runner on 2nd and 2 outs. Still 3-2, bottom of the 8th. Sets the Sox up to lose 3/4 at home and still hold a first place tie going into next weekend. Feels about the same as the last 2-3 weeks of the 2008 season, where the Twins and White Sox were trying to give each other the division on virtually a daily basis.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) Agreed, absolutely horrible call against a guy who was throwing the ball all over. If you do it, do it with 0 strikes to at least give ADA a chance to fight in the AB. Ventura and the stupid bunt today cost us dearly. 1) Olmedo missed bunts in the 1st, costs us a run 2) Didn't run when he managed to get it down 3) DeAza's blown suicide squeeze when the ball hits his bat
  24. Olmedo wasn't even a veteran from another team. He was more like a lifer AAAA journeyman hanging on for the salary and per diem in the International League.
  25. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) f***ING REY OLMEDO. Oh my god, where was Tyler Flowers? Ventura burned him as announced PHer, then pulled him for Dan Johnson who was walked.
