  1. Reed with the most ridiculous victory in the season. Poor Jake...can't blame him for not wanting to stick around next year with how consistently our bullpen and offense has screwed him over this year. And Wilhelmsen was great for most of this year. Inexplicable. That's why baseball is so great....it's like ABC's Wide World of Sports with Jim McKay in the last 10 minutes, thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
  2. Can we just make Myers the closer tomorrow please? I don't care if he's 23/27 or whatever, he's never going to survive against the Tigers down the stretch.
  3. Crazy, crazy, crazy ending there. Can't believe it. Konerko is the KING OF THE FASTBALL HITTERS. 97 MPH. 8 game winning streak over for the M's.
  4. Wise SHOULD have been at 3rd there. Why didn't he tag up?
  5. f***. Whatever you can say about this White Sox team, they just never ever quit. That's one thing you missed with Ozzie's teams the last 3 seasons, with the exception of that 26-5 run in 2010.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) These are some of the reasons I cant stand it here sometimes. Give it a rest. You can't give up the go-ahead run in that fashion. You just can't. Every time things go well for the White Sox, they seem to f--- it up. ALWAYS.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Hahaha that was pathetic. But not unexpected coming from you. We have 17 blown saves. Tied for 2nd in the AL. Playoff teams don't do this. Just wait until we get to Detroit. You really think not closing a 5 run lead at home against the pathetic M's (a team we've owned) is anything comparable to our bullpen facing Cabrera and Fielder in a 1 run game?? Give me a break.
  8. White Sox don't belong in the playoffs with this bullpen and this bullpen management. Consistently terrible the entire second half. This is where we needed a more veteran manager who actually knows how to manage a game.
  9. REALLY? The White Sox sure don't seem to want to close out this game.
  10. Ooops. So much for that. Inexcusable to walk Smoak there. The homer, okay, it is what it is.
  11. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) Will Myers finish nthe game? If so, it pretty much answers the question brought up in earlier thread. ($10,000,000 bonus for 2013). Humber to relive the good feelings of his perfecto here (hopefully).
  12. Dayan hit a 96 MPH fastball there. That's encouraging.
  13. Rays had three chances to tie with runner on 2nd and no outs, couldn't do it against Balfour. TB and Sox would be tied at 14 games over .500, Balt and Oak at 11 over, Tigers 9, Angels 5. Hopefully sweeping the Red Sox and winning that game tonight in DET will get the Angels on another mini-run like when Trout came up...as long as they're not facing us, they can knock out the A's, too, hopefully.
  14. Richards has never had a save in his entire professional career. He also got rocked last night by the Red Sox.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Great job by Peavy of battling tonight....great effort Seems that's been the motto of his season (with all the close losses) for the last 2-3 months. Battler/bulldog, to bring back the old Greg Hibbard nickname.
  16. Wanted the Rays to wipe out the A's. Doesn't look like it will happen. Jays threatening a mini-comeback against the O's. Guess Jepsen has pitched the last 2-3 games in a row, so it can't be Jepsen, can it? Garrett Richards in a rare save opportunity, he throws heat but he's seen more as a starting candidate in the future.
  17. Forgot about Jepsen. So it's Downs for Boesch, then Jepsen....with Richards the emergency back-up option.
  18. The only way Myers makes sense at $10 million is as a starter again, replacing Floyd in the rotation (former Phils' teammate, ironically).
  19. I'd guess Downs against Boesch, then PROBABLY Richards against Young and Peralta. Probably will be a nail-biter again. Hopefully Dotel gives up 1 or 2 here to add some cushion.
  20. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) A Mitchell, Thompson, Hawkins outfield in 2014 would be very solid. Hawkins/Barnum are probably late 2014/2015 if they follow the trend of most raw high school toolsy kids who have to progress through each level of the minors. With Keon, that's perfect timing to replace Konerko. Maybe Paulie ends his career as a DH after Dunn is gone in 2 more years.
  21. Walker looks like he might have a better shot than Mitchell at this point. But there's always possibility the light just goes on like it seemingly has with Thompson in the 2nd half this year. The problem with Keenyn is that you can only have one guy like that on your roster...need power to win games at USCF. Even DeAza has a lot of pop for a leadoff guy, Wise, too.
  22. Cabrera is just an absolute monster. 2-1 Angels, Greinke's done, near his high pitch count of the season. Downs in to face Fielder. 2 outs, btm of 8th. Same place where the Tigers came back last night, crowd of 40,000 again tonight.
  23. John Henry was very outspoken about never wanting Crawford on those terms. Kind of threw his administrative team under the bus and it's been downhill ever since with KFC Gate, Francona, Youk, the booing at Old Timer's Day, bullpen issues galore, Valentine hate, Bard, Beckett falling apart physically....David Ortiz has been about the only positive for that franchise this year.
  24. I guess this whole "rush" thing comes from Hudson, McCarthy, Sale, Addison Reed, Boone Logan, Quintana and MOSTLY Beckham. Maybe Morel, to a lesser extent. It's certainly not like we rushed Viciedo, Jordan Danks, Jared Mitchell, etc. Maybe they're noticing all those recently-promoted guys like Saladino, Walker, Thompson, Sanchez, Mitchell....et al that were being pushed up a level at the end of the year. It's not like they are going to have Barnum and Hawkins in the Carolina League to start 2013. We do push our relievers pretty quickly up the ladder, but that's not a problem if you have the stuff to merit it.
