If that deal was done, there's just no way the Indians would be letting him start. Imagine if he got hurt tonight and then the deal hadn't been completed. OUCH.
-
DJ with the catch...Farmer will go on and on about that one for days.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Rios needs to stand the f*** up.. that squat takes all his power away....either way would love to see his ass go somewhere else but noone else will be as stupid as KW was on that one.... should have let Detroit claim him Would they even have taken him with Granderson in CF at that time, and Ordonez in RF? It was just a theory. I know Curtis was struggling against LHP during that timeframe...but you have to think the main reason is that KW really was overconfident a change of scenery and the Sox coaching staff could "fix" him.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Humber has a lower ERA than Felix. Humber's mediocre peripherals and absurdly low BABIP were bound to bring him back to earth. I'm not hating on the guy. s***, we'd be 10 games out if not for his first-half. But I never thought he was the real deal. We've had a very good infield defense all season long. You expect they'll field a lot of grounders, as long as the balls aren't getting hit into the outfield or over the fence. He's definitely not James Baldwin 2000 or Danny Wright. He's just not an ace. A respectable 3rd or possibly 4th starter (depending on the team), sure.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) He's not viewed in the same light outside of the White Sox organization/fans. Every MLB GM knows he can hit. It's the lack of a position that mitigates his eventual value...since he couldn't stick at 3B. He would have to be #20-40 as a prospect now, were he eligible.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Well except Viciedo. Only name I've seen. (unless you want to still count Sale) A lot of teams would definitely ask for Mitchell or Thompson as the 3rd/4th guy in any trade. Lester absolutely dominant tonight, anyway. Let's just hope this means the end of Alex Rios in the line-up. If Ozzie plays him two more games in a row against Miller and Sabathia, he deserves to be fired. Or leaves Dunn in the middle of the line-up. Just those two issues alone are enough.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Hudson dwarfs Humber. Not to mention Humber is 5 years older. Hard to argue that when Humber STILL has an ERA nearly a run lower in the AL. We'll see. Usually, long-term, the White Sox aren't wrong about pitching prospects. So far, they seem to be on Gio and Hudson. 2-3 years from now, we'll have a much better assessment.

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) I wonder if a Mariners-esque losing streak would cost Ozzie his job. That'd be so worth it. I hate Ozzie more than Dunn, Rios, Kenny Williams, Nick Punto, Ichiro, Bud Selig, Mark McGwire, steroids, people who hog weights at the gym, slow drivers, communists, porn music, the French, Ivy League graduates, draft dodgers, the ATF and Bostonians. That's a lot of hate. What about David Koresh and that guy who killed all the students in Norway? Can you really hate Cornell graduates?

Chalk it up to AJ sucking....Morel's bad luck and facing the best offense in the AL right now. Humber will be okay. Probably will end up as more of a 3.75-4.25 ERA guy, but that's exactly what Hudson would be with us.
-
Now the Indians are adding Ludwick, too??? Hmmm. Thornton/Floyd and/or Danks/Quentin/Ohman....get what you can for them KW.
-
Now that's probably the game. Thanks, Morel. Ugly, ugly inning. Maybe distracted by the bat fragment flying at him. Goodbye, Humber.
-
Ohman warming up. Glad I didn't go to this game. Very smart hitting by Scutaro and Pedroia in this inning. Nice to see that other teams can execute so well in these situations.
-
Damn predictability of a Humber implosion. Well, with the Red Sox at 18-6 this month, you're just not going to sweep them, especially not with Lester on the mound. We just have to take out Andrew Miller tomorrow. Game's still not over yet, though. Anything over 3, forget it.
-
2-0, too bad Humber couldn't pull off the K there.
-
Why no throw to 1B? Uh-oh...this isn't good. At least he didn't throw it down the RF line. AJ could have taken it as well.
-
Reason #1 we can't really have the best defense in the AL. Ramirez has to stop that damned ball from getting through to CF. Sometimes you have to wonder what he's thinking....shying away from contact so much. 1-0, Salty. Guess it didn't even matter that CC was on 3rd.
-
Dunn's 243 OPS against LHP is shrinking even further. Esteban Beltre or Mike Caruso could walk out to the batter's box tonight and beat that. Boston definitely will be testing AJ here. Let's not get so carried away with pitchouts/strategizing we put 2 runners on base and give up a crooked number. We haven't even thrown anyone out with a pitchout, anyway. 0/7 or 0/8 I think.
-
MARQUIS TO DBACKS. ONE less pitcher for the Tigers. Aviles has arrived, #3 for Red Sox. Didn't realize they were trading away Span, haha. Storen will help that bullpen, but if they want back Bernadina too, another player has to be involved. 16 batters for Yankees in one inning. 12-0 Yankees. Why can't DUNN strike out when we need him to? UGH!!! What's the season number now for Dunn against LHP, 2 for 70?
-
Wonder who the Twins are benching....?? Kind of weird, unless they know something about Span's health nobody else is privy to, and aren't able to trust Revere for the next 2 months. They're already full with Cuddyer/Young/Kubel on the corners.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) That hook is nasty tonight. Pomeranz, White and McBride for Ubaldo. Wow, I guess they held out for two premium pitching prospects. Rare infield single for Gonzalez. Beckham makes that play 85-90% of the time. Not an error, though? McBride is a catcher? He was only their #29 prospect in the Indians system coming into 2009.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) Yeah. I can't believe how much they want for Span. Considering he's always going to be no more than a 675-725 OPS guy at max....CFers/leadoff hitters are going at premium prices. I would be nervous about trading him, though. Revere still has a long ways to go, and he's definitely tiring.
-
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) Storen and the twins want bernadina and Steve lombardozzi Throw in Billy Jo Robidoux and it's a done deal.
-
Ozzie's just trying to prove his unquestioned genius that he can still beat the Red Sox with the worst possible hitting line-up in baseball.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) According to Bowden, he's going to Wash for Storen. Saw where Yankees were also inquiring about Span. That's risky with his slow injury recovery.
-
Deal is done according to Troy REnck of the Denver Post. White OR Pomeranz, Kipnis and Chisenhall. Pressure on the Yankees to make a pitching move now... Morel hitting into bad luck, close play at 1B. Morel's our best bunter after Vizquel and Pierre when he's bunting for a hit. Unfortunately, power....not so much.
