  1. I thought Greg would pick Ozzie Guillen. Actually, when I was in grad school, it would have been Kenny Williams. Since then, I would prefer Director of Community Relations (Christine O'Reilly) since you can really see all the good that professional athletes can do "behind the scenes" to help, everything from "Make A Wish" type hospital visits to kids with terminal illnesses to more substantive projects like the Pepsi Community/Block grant one that all the MLB teams applied to win the funds for. You really see the best and worst of professional athletes in this area...fortunately, even in this day and time, MOST are very gracious and generous with their time. I know this is one area that JR really is proud of, compared to other franchises. Being Brooks Boyer would also be a HUGE challenge and interesting, although that job would probably have a lot less job security than Director of Comm. Relations.

Machete is definitely better than Expendables...although not recommended as a date movie or for the faint of heart. I'm not sure I'd greenlight a sequel though, Danny Trejo's acting is about as one dimensional as Zac Efron's or Freddie Prinze, Jr., and that's not saying much. Maybe it's the "hot chic" factor, lol. Michelle Rodriguez has really gotten into good shape, and Jessica Alba's always cute, although I found her character to be hopelessly naive and impossible to believe. Between Seagal in Machete and the cast of Expendables, I think all the bases have been covered this month except for Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris.
  3. It's over. Let's hope this is the turning point and the Rangers can take advantage of pitching issues and take 2/3.
  4. bad back for Fuentes, like Thome.... interestingly, Thome has 6 homers in 65 AB's this season (now 66) against lefties, including the one off Matty And Minnesota's park is like PetCo and Seattle as far as homers...unbelieveable game. 36 pitches now for Valverde.
  5. Use Valverde for 3 innings and lose him for the weekend or try Daniel Schlereth for his first major league save?
  6. DAMN Piranhas again....Tolbert follows in the tradition along with Punto.
  7. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) I'm sure they'll bring in a position player, someone like Matt Tolbert will pitch 7 scoreless innings in relief with 8 ks. The possibilities are endless with this club, it really is unreal. Almost as unreal was if Pablo Ozuna would have pitched in the World Series instead of Buehrle. It's Schlereth or a starter for the Tigers next. Tigers with 15 LOB, Minnie with 9 so far.
  8. At least I get to watch Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez in one hour...I'll just assume the loss and go to see MACHETE.
  9. I hope they have to use Blackburn or concede the game at some point...they're not going to use Capps.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) Seriously, Ramon Santiago must have quite the envelope full of cash sitting in his locker room from the Twins. He must be a member of the Pakistani cricket team. 7 double play balls tonight blown, the Verlander/Rhymes one leading to 3 unearned runs in the 5th.
  11. I hope Joe West never gets to eat dinner because every restaurant is closed and he gets a severe case of gastritis and/or the couple next to his hotel room bangs their bed against his wall all night long.
  12. Tigers just booted two double plays in a row. Unreal.
  13. Goodbye game-ending double play. Thanks INGE. Great. INGE=TEAHEN, lol
  14. Overrated! Mauer K's on 3 fastballs in a row? I think he only struck out one time his entire high school career...
  15. This is almost getting to be more upsetting than a 2nd half of the season White Sox game with the way it's heading... Joe Mauer double play ball please.
  16. Dad-gummit... Odds of this run not scoring? 10%? What the heck is it with the strike zone now? That's ridiculous.
  17. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) Glen Perkins? Jeff Manship? Blackburn just came back too, but he pitched so well I don't think they're concerned about him for the moment.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) Really bad decision to pitch Duensing here. Just not worth it, especially when you're up 4 games and you have the health of Baker in question. This is his normal throwing day...but you can be sure this his start against the Rangers this weekend will be under the microscope.
  19. Raburn is the best hitter on the Tigers now after Cabrera and Jackson. Peralta was really out at 1B...thankfully we get the break there, and the Twins' bullpen has been decimated. Crain threw 40, Capps wasn't available due to overuse, Fuentes has a back problem and the Twins decided not to call up any pitchers from Rochester.
  20. Wow, for once Mauer didn't get the call. C'mon, big two out hit, Casper the Friendly Ghost is hitting .379 now. Crain extended to 40 pitches....gets the charitable call on the inside strike with the full count.
  21. 71-2 when leading after 7 69-1 when leading after 8 Despite having one more blown saves than the White Sox, the Twins have lost just a few times in those situations. We've lost what, at least 6-7 games in the second half alone when we've had the lead late???
  22. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) It was just amazing to me the freak numbers that man was putting up with no protection, lots of injuries, and that team as bad as they've been not to mention the respect he gets with his IBB. He was near triple crown status just a week ago. (I thought he was going to catch Josh in average, only Bautista and his freak year in homers is what Miggy probably would not catch) I would say now it's still Hamiltons to lose, but now Konerko is more of an MVP candidate/runner up than Cabrera. Just watch, Cano, Bautista, Hamilton and Cabrera will all finish ahead of Konerko somehow.
  23. Well, that would have been a walk-off homer at the HHH. and Valencia was a 19th round draft pick, of course.
  24. Don't throw this kid Valencia a FB. 8/11 this series, hitting .341 and the Tigers have a guy out there with an 8.84 ERA against him. And he's supposed to have big-time power in batting practice but it hasn't showed up yet in game situations.
