Sox Sign Joey Gallo to minor league deal, NRI
Let's see if we can somehow manage to achieve the oldest (and cheapest) line-up in baseball... DH Joey Gallo amazing he's still only 31, seems that he's been around at least five more years promoted as two-time GOLD GLOVE winner (LOL now) and Boras CORP client https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=479ac06929fde3e730d237f1f38de3ed29776ae41e52d034515bdf2def1b03d4JmltdHM9MTczOTQwNDgwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=03c24136-0107-6bcf-19e3-529f00f66aa7&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubWxidHJhZGVydW1vcnMuY29tLzIwMjUvMDIvd2hpdGUtc294LXNpZ24tam9leS1nYWxsby10by1taW5vci1sZWFndWUtZGVhbC5odG1s&ntb=1 LF Tauchman 34 RF Slater 32 3B Rojas Josh (a relatively spry 30) CF Michael A. Taylor 33, 34 on Opening Day C Matt Thaiss a spry 29, which is like 34 for a catcher, lol 2B Brandon Drury just 32, turns 33 at the end of the season 1B Andrew Vaughn 26, 27 on Opening Day P Martin Perez 33, 34 on Opening Day SS Jacob Amaya 26 1/2 Bench Luis Robert 27 1/2 (too young to play) Corey Lee 26 1/2 Andrew Benintendi 30 1/2 (barely younger than Joey Gallo, haha) I'm giving up here....maybe Moustakas or Hosmer can come back? Alex Gordon? No more ex-Royals?

Very well done piece by Fegan on State of the Sox
For pitchers, it seems (for the Sox) more and more the trend is going to be to completely SKIP over Charlotte and keep them down at Birmingham competing for league championships as long as possible as collective units/rotations. But it also obviously skews offensive numbers. Which is why Montgomery should be pushing a 850-900ish OPS and not low 700's if he really wants a promotion. Ofc, the White Sox are going off his last 4-6 weeks of play and the AFL and largely ignoring the rest of his struggles.

Rubenstein of O's pushes for salary cap
https://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2025/02/duke-university-kennedy-center-president-donald-trump-fires-multiple-board-members-david-rubenstein-appoints-himself-chairman-truth-social-announcement President Donald Trump announced his plan to fire multiple board members of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and appoint himself as chairman, replacing David Rubenstein, Trinity College ‘70 and one of Duke’s top donors. Trump posted the announcement on his social media platform Truth Social Friday, claiming that neither Rubenstein — in his role as board chairman — nor other board members “share [the country’s] Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.” Established in 1958, the Kennedy Center is considered “the nation’s cultural center” and “a true ‘artistic mecca.’”

Sox Spring Training notes
He certainly had some time to study the Royals, which is basically a case of being in the right place at the right time to draft Witt, Jr., and spending more than anyone in the division last off season on Wacha/Lugo as well as making the Ragans/A.Chapman trade. Oh, and having veteran leadership from Salvy Perez (and an outlier of a 2024 season statistically). Lesson over.

Eloy Jimenez signs minor league deal with Tampa Bay
Money/greed/fame is a great motivation for players...especially when the gravy train of "easy money" on that early extension came to an abrupt end. Why the White Sox "coddled" their players and DIDN'T force them to get into the "greatest shape of their lives" over the off seasons is a question best addressed to Hahn and Getz, especially in the past cases of Anderson (more off-field distractions), Grandal, Lynn, Rodon, Jimenez, Moncada, etc.

White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
No way they're going to trade Burns or Lowder at this point...
-
Dick Allen HOF
And can the owner (JR) override the wishes of the family? The Phillies and their owner have simply embrace Allen's enshrinement. Much different reaction at 35th and Shields.
-
Dick Allen HOF
The Fisk argument. More games with White Sox...but iconic moments in 1975 and forever connected to Boston Red Sox lore, also originally from that region of the country if I remember correctly.
-
Dick Allen HOF
More like Reinsdorf abandoned his cause...invested all his efforts into Baines instead.

Dick Allen HOF
We have been discussing it a lot. Apparently the player’s family isn't the finally arbiter with a previously deceased player.

Sox offering all Mar/Apr/May games for $125
A code whose name is derived from Jon Garland lol? Priceless. Also, might not want to trade Luis Robert now with all those enquiries coming in on the hotline...Oops it's already ovah. Workers weren't willing to answer non-ringing phones for more than 2 hours at a time?

2025 MLB Draft
I wasn't really being serious. Just not a big fan of the SEC in general. Yes I know Frank Thomas Bo Herschel Walker pre-politics etc. At least nothing about the greatness of Todd Helton Waffle House and NASCAR.

Go Wolverines! Oops that was Red Dawn...

Martin is still learning from Michael Kopech at least lol. They maybe could/should have realized that AJ Pollock wasn't a right fielder...for example.

Yoan Moncada signs with Angels
Hibbard Jerksticks and poppy were five of the most optimistic posters here and look what the Sox have done to sap all of their collective enthusiasm. Fathom is right. I don't think Reinsdorf and Boyer understand quite yet exactly how battered and bruised this franchise is right now. It will definitely be apparent in April and May crowds...spring training attendance, will probably get more Dodgers' fans blocked out of tickets for their half of Feb/March who just want to watch other teams play. Glendale will definitely be a ghost town during the Tokyo Series against the Cubs. I suppose it's a unique opportunity for that "dirty dozen" still persevering in their coverage of the Sox to gain all-encompassing/exclusive access...guys like Fegan and Margalus and Connor McKnight.

Okay. Hopefully you won't be so grumpy with the new Captain America movie coming out...and Valentine's Day to top it off.

Bregman to Red Sox. 3 years/120 million
A lot of speculation Bregman was going to be moving to 2B with Altuve to LF had he stayed in Houston. Shaw will be much better than Morel Paredes Candelario at third.

Sox Spring Training notes
Barfield and Venable much quieter. Must be Getz positioning for same AL Executive of the Year Hahn won in 2019. The same Hahn and Haber that are totally out of baseball now.

Bregman to Red Sox. 3 years/120 million
Gage Workman and Jon Berti might not be enough...to replace Hoerner.
-
Yoan Moncada signs with Angels
Yoan Moncada hasn't even been mentioned once on this page of the thread but sure, okay. We can all use some more Getz sucks!/Getz is a golden-haired demigod that can do no wrong discussions to move up from the 228th ranked baseball board...wherever TaylorSt Sox got that little tidbit.

Sox Spring Training notes
“With that being said, it’s a great opportunity to be matched up at a facility with a team that won the World Series to have something to aim toward. How are we going to beat them? How can we compete? The Dodgers have been a very successful organization. With that being said, we know what we need to do, and we’re setting out to do that.” Spending on free agents obviously would help. But with that being said, Getz knew when he accepted the job in 2023 that a full-scale rebuild was his only option. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/paul-sullivan-white-sox-return-to-camelback-ranch-in-the-age-old-tale-of-the-haves-and-have-nots/ar-AA1yVS1k?ocid=BingNewsSerp Last paragraph seems a bit like revisionist history.

Are the White Sox one of 18 teams in on this guy?
This feels like the infield argument all over again. One thing is pretty certain. Venable seems wedded to the Tauchman/Slater platoon in RF and Taylor seems destined to take over CF...leaving Fletcher buried. Eder would be a shock after everyone has all but given up on him as a starter. The Bush injury does open up a bit of an opportunity to jump in the internal pecking order.

Ramos has elbow "soreness"
https://www.chicagomag.com/chicago-magazine/april-2023/meet-the-white-soxs-next-star/ A simple search comes up with Colas Cuban Ohtani references all over the place. Hyperbole? Nah.

Seems a mistake...based on last year. Martin coming back from surgery...Br.Wilson hasn't consistently started...Perez is getting up there in age. Sophomore season for Cannon challenging as he's been scouted now and won't sneak up on anyone. Burke a total wild card after three impressive starts against soft lineups. I guess Iriarte is going to be next man up from how it looks this early.
