  1. And lastly, Armstrong Muhoozi of Uganda (Pirates) became just the second position player from the East African nation to sign with an MLB organization. Greg Presto spent time with Muhoozi over the last couple of months, and has a video feature to go with a great story. theathletic.com
  2. Someone will get a Top 40-75 overall prospect out of this situation...
  3. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_/id/8524/salvador-perez#:~:text=Salvador Perez signed a 4 year %2C %2482%2C000%2C000,%2422%2C000%2C000%2C while carrying a total salary of %2422%2C000%2C000. The other BIG problem is that he's owed $24 million (including 2026 buyout) for 2025, and made $20 million in 2024. For a team that's going to end up between $40-50 million at some point (minus Robert and Benintendi), half of your salary going to be a veteran mid 30's catcher on an inevitable defensive decline would be the definition of insanity.
  4. The board consensus was the Perez would be a pretty terrible move...but he turned out to have a great season. 0.8 fwar in 2022, -0.4 in 2023 and then 3.2 out of nowhere as a beaten up to hell catcher in his early 30's, but really 34-36 in terms of overall wear and tear on his body.
  5. Yeah, we really needed some Mafia ball bustin' guys...like Liotta Pesci DemNiro (spell check just created a new nickname). Capisce?
  6. Or 3B/2B, but no instinctively natural shortstops.
  7. Maybe we're confused about which sport we're competing in...if it was football WR's, we'd be pretty much set. https://www.mlb.com/news/dylan-cease-luis-arraez-among-padres-trade-possibilities
  8. It's telling when the Tanner Banks move is one of the three crown jewels of the entire Getz Resume so far. Getting Patino this week might be another, unless all the credit goes to Keller instead in the international dept.
  9. POT, MEET KETTLE Spider-man...Anti-Spiderman/alternative reality
  10. Hays was NEVER IN ONE MILLION YEARS GOING TO SIGN WITH THE WHITE SOX...not even if they guaranteed him a starting role, which would make his trade for Fletcher look even dumber than it already does at the moment.
  11. We have shipped out supposed "bad seeds": Tim Anderson Yasmani Grandal Eloy Jimenez Joe Kelly Kendall Graveman Keynan Middleton Lucas Giolito (union/player organizing) Michael Kopech Nick Madrigal Steak and Potatoes/TLR/Cardinals' Nation This isn't exactly 8 Men Out, BUT WHEN EXACTLY WILL THE TIME REASONABLY ARRIVE WHEN THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES NOT GOING TO BE BLAMED FOR EVERYTHING that goes awry???...remember Getz's comments about "not liking his team" lol? Who says that during a season?
  12. https://www.bluejayscentral.com/mlb-team/toronto-blue-jays/bowden-francis-loving-the-blue-jays-pursuit-of-sasaki-says-team-is-hungry He also made sure to rep the city and the organization. The city, the country behind you. All the research that we have. I mean the complex is incredible. Just the mandates we have in Toronto. The way they treat our players and the families, it's second to none. The "comfortability" we bring to players. It's super special. He's not the only one. Former Blue Jays pitcher Yusei Kikuchi often spoke fondly of the city and the organization, and there are rumours that the one-tome All-Star spoke to Sasaki on behalf of the Jays. The Jays are known throughout the league for their prime pitching development at the major league level; Francis' success during the second half of last year is a perfect example of this. This type of program in one of things that is intriguing and of value to the Japanese phenom.
  13. Veteran leadership to take the place of an already fatally-flawed manager... Jay and Alonso to take the place of actually committing money to Machado's final year, which ended up as a total waste. Nicky Lopez/Pillar/Grossman/DeJong/Pham for veteran leadership. Rojas for veteran leadership. Vaughn and Benintendi for leadership... I sense a trend.
  14. Posted 3 hours ago The off-season waiver wire claim reminds me of dating in your early 20s. Your just having fun dating around going out with different girl every few days then trading her in for someone else for a bit you feel is better and just repeating it. Then everyone once and awhile you date an ex girlfriend to give her another try. https://forum.orioleshangout.com/topic/56174-os-claim-if-jacob-amaya-dfa-roansy-contreras/ Posted 3 hours ago Rather have Contreras. Over/under for games played this season set at 0.5. Just warming the seat for the return of Mateo.
  15. https://en.albat.com/thebigs/MLB-Natural-Disaster-Derails-Teams-Plan-to-Pursue-Roki-Sasaki-Signing-20250116-0006.html Rays MIGHT have had a chance at Sasaki if their roof hadn't collapsed, lol...and consigned to Tampa (NYY minor league affiliate stadium for High A/FSL). What next, the wildfires/earthquakes will be the determining factor when his agent/agency are based in LA?
  16. Shades of TLR vs. AJ Hinch...
  17. First appearance of Babe Ruth in ANY connection with Martin Maldonado in baseball "statniks" history, lol...
  18. https://www.mlb.com/news/pete-alonso-rumors Blue Jays Giants Angels for Oso Polar/Polar Bear ???
  19. "The Great Purge"...if we want to put it in far bloodier Russian historical terms.
  20. Padres hired former Mariners' manager Scott Servais "Scott Servais was a very good catcher for the Astros. I remember his amazing performance catching Mike Hampton against the Padres, when Hampton suddenly lost the plate - by a lot. Amazingly, despite walking the bases loaded with twelve consecutive incredibly bad pitches (one pitch to a lefty hitter missed the right-handed batter's box!), there was only one wild pitch and no passed balls. The Padres need a veteran catcher, how old is Servais? Um, 57. Never mind. Maybe he can work with Campy/Campusano, Sasaki and Maldonado." gaslampball.com
  21. Will Melody Hobson announce she's taking over the Sox on Star Wars Night? Let the Force be with Her!!
  22. Go Brooks...you da man!
  23. Buying high on Bowers in fantasy drafts...
  24. More 5D Chess. Reportedly in the greatest shape of his life. (Well, they already have Campusano Sullivan and maybe Higashioka...) Mentor for Sasaki in spring training???...will be specifically assigned to catch just him.
