  1. Kay That's the only one that will eventually be perceived as a bargain or value deal if he continues to pitch like May. But that's still a long long way away at this point.
  2. So why all the talk from the bottom 18 teams about not doing anything until they know exactly what the future financial conditions will look like? That's a lot of excuse making. Bit it's not like there are more than 8-10 players that everyone will be fighting for in FA. It's not even a sure thing anymore that Skubal will get $300+ million at this point.
  3. Regardless, big market teams will be buying all the way up until the last day of November unless they really have legit reasons to believe there will be a hard cap...with significant enough penalties to deter them.
  4. How many mutual options have been picked up by both parties when the player has a strong FA year though? 3-5%?
  5. Bo Jackson before his hip injury...
  6. Tell that to Benetti and Caleb Williams...joking. Well it certainly mattered to Konnor Griffin. He discouraged at least two teams from picking him, saying he would honor his college commitment in order to slide to Pitt at 9.
  7. Who is the one who keeps pushing Flora? Weren't two of Lackey's 3 hits massive bombs lol? A little like Romo. At any rate, Madrigal was from CA prep/OSU, Vaughn UC Berkeley and now UCLA by way of AZ with Cholowsky. Three PAC-10 (originally) guys. Third time's a charm?
  8. Sure, but lots of overly positive SSS. Every starting pitcher has that massive advantage the very first time facing a team...
  9. Schultz will be back by then?
  10. And the Sandlin bandwagon didn't last all that long... Venable never should have let him go out there again. Or pulled after first batter.
  11. Sandlin lost his velo this time. Way too late pulling him. GaTech coach taking over Sox here.
  12. Ryan best record against rhbers not giving up a homer until Vargas struck
  13. Larnach has really improved his sprint speed with a lot of training and conditioning in the off season...
  14. And Franco "disappeared"...
  15. Ofc it was ex Sox Tristan Gray WE's favorite player ST 2025 Sandlin not getting nearly enough horizontal movement on his cutter/sweeper/slider. Well, he was yet another former Ray. Except they couldn't figure out how to optimistic his skill set last year. They were considering Meidroth the starter at SS at that point. And they also had Sosa. But he hasn't done much since the first couple of weeks of the season.
  16. And the second collapse is officially over. Tockey OU gw homer over batter's eye in CF. GaTech Friday starter never looked comfortable coming in as a reliever. Have to go back to post Garciaparrra/Teixeira/Varitek daysdays long years ago since Tech advanced to Super Regionals.
  17. Ga Tech really feeling a bit of panic...crazy the psrallels between the 1-2 teams this weekend. Tech SS saved the loss for now with an amazing throw at SS from his knees.
  18. Based on the career arcs of Hagen and the risks attendant with Schultz's height/frame, McDougal's high velo and Oppor's erratic seaon...that's even scarier. Look how long it took to get one dominant season out of Rodon...and how much time lost to injury. Same with Crochet. Any team only could have signed him for a song before 2001.
  19. At this point, everything is getting microanalyzed game by game since this could be the very last look for weeks. Seems like the pendulum will swing back towards Cholowsky if OU blows 6 and 4 run leads in back to back games. That's also illogical/emotional decision making in the moment. Tech just got lucky with that play to get the dp and out of the inning. That said OU could have made outs the last two runs scored just as easily. Razor thin margins.
  20. Ga Tech manager stuck with his reliever too long.
  21. Didn't have the opportunity to even catch that ball on the play at the plate... 7-5 Ga Tech Top of 8
  22. That's why Doyle gave Roch the advantage there...the break out sophomore season. He looked at 15 different categories, including soft skills like leadership (had personally interviewed him three times, including high school when he turned down a $3 million bonus), where he also deferred to Cholowsky, but that was before the multiple game collapse this past weekend. Is their any indication Roch even likes the Sox...compared to SFG? And didn't the same thing get said about Madrigal and Vaughn...totality of their ncaa careers were dominating? Casey at OSU said Madrigal was the best player in the country when he recruited him out of Cali...and had already been on various national teams.
  23. BPA...plus now there are some emerging questions/concerns about his health maintenance at the catching spot.
