2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/V.Lackey closing fast
That last swing was a good one...just didn't square it up on the bat and got under it a bit. Murakami looked terrible for the entire WBC this last year until hitting a GS against an Australian reliever who wouldn't get out of A ball in what became a blowout. Next up is Kansas.

Just got under it. 22 games in a row getting on base streak in jeopardy after tearing apart the first two regional games. .486 and over 1.000 slugging percentage during that critical 6 week time period. UCLA pretty much went the opposite direction as an offense at that same time.

Getting better every single season? Or peaking/plateauing early? Look at Ethan Salas. Top 10-15 milb prospect to out of the Top 100 and then back again like Colson. Development is not always linear. But in this case, it has been. 2025 numbers at GA TECH...higher average than Cholowsky this season .347 .421 .500 .921 A lot of scouts had Lackey on their top 15 lists based on his dynamic physical tools alone coming into this year's college season. But who knows....based on two games, they're taking Burress, lol. He was head of the class when this mock came out.

Yeah I think the real untold story here is how this owner at the same age as 46/47 has completely turned over a new leaf and totally revitalized and transformed the organization with his youthful energy and can do spirit. It's practically infectious.

Surely, the White Sox will be adding Tarik Skubal for the second half with this recent injection of incomparable attendance revenue. Braves and Dodgers series will average 31-32,000 across six games.

Cali has a point. Some people just glory in being online bullies. At least Balta never acted that way. I guess insulting Tray has gotten boring for everyone, so recycling through your tried and true targets. So you win the internet today, congrats. Whatever! Heard the same exact crap for twenty years, what's another twenty?

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/ucla-stunned-no-1-national-seed-eliminated-from-ncaa-tournament/ Even BA is pushing the Brandon Crawford parallel/SFG angle now. Now comes a month and a half of waiting. Cholowsky entered the season as the consensus favorite to be selected first overall in July’s MLB Draft. He’s still a strong candidate. But whether he ultimately hears his name called first remains one of the most fascinating storylines in the class. Momentum around players such as Grady Emerson and Vahn Lackey has only intensified as draft day approaches, and the debate at the top of the board feels more open than it did a few months ago. That discussion will play out over the coming weeks. What won’t change is what Cholowsky accomplished at UCLA. There is an odd historical parallel that now feels impossible to ignore. Brandon Crawford and Cholowsky are the only two shortstops in UCLA history to play for Bruins teams that entered a season ranked No. 1 in the Baseball America Top 25. Neither team escaped its own regional. Crawford went on to build an accomplished MLB career and is one of the most beloved players in San Francisco Giants history. Maybe fate has another connection in store. Maybe the Giants will find a way to make Cholowsky the latest Bruin shortstop to head north to the Bay Area.- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Bright Side Of The SunThe Suns and Mercury double down on their promise to make...Ishbia continues to make basketball free and fans across Arizona are the ones who benefit.Reinsdorf giving away games for free for seven years (2023 through 2030) to fans like Ishbia? That lasted about a month with the CHSN bunny ears antennaes before capitulating to inclusion in the highest Comcast pricing tier. Ishbia's goal has been to reshape the fan experience in Phoenix, now adding tacos and ice cream sandwiches to a menu that already includes hot dogs, chips, popcorn, fountain soda and bottled water for just $2 each. The initiative has made the Suns' offerings among the most affordable concession options in the NBA. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/phoenix-suns-owner-mat-ishbia-174124520.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwiYg92_1OWUAxXJlSsGHX8sFU0QFnoECBoQAw&usg=AOvVaw0T0BT58_M1ACirmHXpeYe- Suns owner Mat Ishbia recently announced that concessions will take a steep discount for all home games: Hot dog: $9 —> $2 16 oz Dasani water $8.50 —> $2 16 ox fountain soda $8.50 —> $2 Bag of chips $7 —> $2 Bag of popcorn $7 —> $2 According to Ishbia, he wanted to make food more affordable for families who don't want to pay outrageous concession prices. Adding superstars in Durant and Beal to go along with Booker. Completely transforming the team this year around an ethos of hard work/defense/togetherness/scrappy play and hustling for loose balls when the three superstars approach failed. Always prioritizing/optimizing the fan experience... What a total jerk!!!- 2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/V.Lackey closing fast
The Sooners and Yellow Jackets meet for a trip to the Supers on Monday at 2 p.m. CT. The game can be seen via ESPN+ and heard on The REF 99.3 FM/1400 AM or nationwide on The Varsity network app. The winner awaits Big 12 champion Kansas after the Jayhawks (45-16) swept through their Lawrence Regional. With an OU win, the Sooners would head to Kansas for its 11th Super Regional appearance in program history and first since 2022.- Official Chris Getz Apology Thread
Talk about Stockholm Syndrome. JR is winning when the fanbase doesn't want the payroll doubled because it MIGHT mean signing declining vets...as if that's the only possible option. How about actually signing star quality players like Mune or Sato? Not crazy enough to think Skubal, but imagine how much better this team would be with Michael King as the second starter? Benintendi Grandal Dunn Keuchel M.Cabrera LaRoche has everyone running in fear just because those signings all failed ignominiously. Under the Hahn/Haber/Hostetler HHH Regime. If we do trust Getz now....why don't we trust him yet with bigger signings?- 2026 Old Sock Drawer

Somehow it's going to be pretty deflating if both Ga Tech on Monday and ofc UCLA are already eliminated. The excitement level has been dampened by at least 50%...especially going into this long waiting/speculation period. Now it's more of a feeling of let's not mess THIS one up, please!!! Just can't blow 3/4 Top 4 picks in a ten year period.- Sterling article on T.Sato, unquestioned best NPB player
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/who-is-teruaki-sato-and-why-are-the-phillies-scouting-him/ar-AA23EG5i?apiversion=v2&domshim=1&noservercache=1&noservertelemetry=1&batchservertelemetry=1&renderwebcomponents=1&wcseo=1 Have a feeling the Sox will pass based on left handedness and similar high K numbers to Mune Colson B.Montgomery Bonemer. Then you Teel/Antonacci as well. That said...Mune gets extended (by someone miracle) and all bets are off as teams race to at the very least get up to the $135-150 million range. That very well might end up as the payroll floor more realistically than the originally suggested $171.4 figure. "As you may be able to tell from that video, Sato’s power is his best trait despite his smaller frame. But that power comes with some prolific strikeout numbers. He owns a career 27.5% strikeout rate and his 27.3% mark from 2025 would have tied him with Byron Buxton for the 12th highest in MLB last season. He typically swings often and does not make a high degree of contact, with a swinging strike rate of 15.3% last year that would have tied him with Eugenio Suárez for the seventh highest among qualified hitters in MLB. However, those strikeout numbers are coupled with a walk rate that is improving, as Sato’s 9.5% walk rate last season would have placed him slightly above the MLB average of 8.4% and was up from his 7.3% mark in 2024. There isn’t much to gleam from Sato’s 13.1% walk rate through 175 plate appearances in 2026 so far, but it does open the possibility that he may well end up finishing at or near his previous career high of 9.9% in 2023."- 2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/V.Lackey closing fast
