BoSox @ ChiSox 7/29/11 Gamethread (7:10 CT/8:10 ET)
kjshoe04 replied to ChiSox_Sonix's topic in 2011 Season in Review
I don't even know why they are going to play this game. Boston is far too good for us. Might as well rest for three days and take three forfeits. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) And if Dunn and Rios begin to hit anywhere near the career averages down the stretch, we'll be a respectable offense again. It's not going to happen. I can still see Dunn getting better but Rios is a lost cause. Frankly, I'm hoping De Aza goes on a magical run.

Boston isn't some mystical team that can't be stopped. That's the Twins.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) Well this isn't college football. I mean, as long as games are played, yes, technically anything can happen. By my estimation, the probability of this White Sox team beating this Red Sox team in October is less than 10%. And I think I'm being generous. You're crazy. I'd say the Royals would have a 10% shot at beating them.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:04 AM) LF? No room, we have Juan.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) Only if they throw in Freddie Freeman Where would he play?
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 08:45 AM) Agreed 100% But Domonic Brown? Remains to be seen Still not happening.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 02:45 AM) Of course he won't, no such player in Braves organization. He also won't get Teheran or 3 of their top 10.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:06 AM) I dont think other managers would put Will Ohman in games that are still close. Some managers would kill to have Will Ohman in a close game.
-
CQ will not land Dominic Brown.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Tigers go to TB in late August. That is a huge series. Why?

QUOTE (The '05 Sound @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Good GQ article about agent david canter's minute by minute 72 hour frenzy that is being an nfl agent and making his client the richest safety in the league. http://www.gq.com/sports/profiles/201107/e...e-agent-signing Well, i have never heard of the richest safety in the league. I'm not sure what that says about me. -
Yeah, I haven't seen Brown mentioned anywhere but a lot of people seem to think we can get him plus more for some reason.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Some of you need to go back and look at the attendance figures after the White Flag Trade. If the Sox pull that crap again, it'll be even worse. It's difficult to rebuild a winning franchise when there is no gate, parking, or concessions revenue coming in. This. When you can't draw without winning, it takes a long, long time to rebuild. Ask KC, Pittsburgh, Tampa, etc. I bet the youth movement would be fun for about half a season before everybody either complained or just didn't care. I'm all for trading Carlos if the package is right though. It's a smart move. An all out rebuild right now would really cripple this franchise for the better part of a decade.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) That Brandon Allen homer knocked in Chris Young. It's a shame Clayton Richard didn't start for the Padres.
-
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) How long would it take Dominic Brown to be ready to start for the Sox? How many years away? Is he a raw talent? He could start tomorrow night.
-
QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) KW does not have the patience for rebuilding. He never has and never will. Neither do White Sox fans.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) If it's some top prospects from the Braves or Phillies, I won't. Especially now that they should be bidding against each other and Q is the best bat on the market. I'm fine with it too, but I think everyone is expecting a bigger package than I feel we will get back.
-
I think if/when Carlos goes, a ton of people here are going to be disappointed in the package.
-
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) Did Lincoln assemble a cabinet of 6 quality starters, a deep bullpen and some good position players whom all decided to have historically bad seasons at the same time, before Booth shot him? Clearly, Booth single-handedly elected Lincoln and his staff, who underperformed, so he traded him to England for a couple young members of parliament.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) who got hit and lost to the Padres at Petco. Weak. He even got some run support via a Brandon Allen homer.
-
Seems like Peters hit similar to Rios.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) There's a solid chance that in 5 years we'll look back on this deal and say it was hands down the worst deal of the KW regime. If it gets on your nerves, then step away. It's going to be either this or the Swisher trade, but it comes up in every thread around here. It's done with. I hope somehow Zach Stewart becomes awesome just so I don't have to hear the name Dan Hudson ever again.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) Yeah, for those guys. At the time, the Baines retired number was kind of a joke---but that's just me. I just roll my eyes when people suggest Ventura and Dye should have a retired number. They aren't even close to being worth that honor. Agreed. If you let those guys get their numbers retired there wouldn't be any outfield wall space soon.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) The perfect guy also is still franchised, Vincent Jackson. Gotta figure that they'd at least be open to listening if Steve Smith (panthers) were on the block for something less than a first rounder. The bears don't need a short speedy receiver. NO to Steve Smith. Get me someone with size, please.
