  1. I wish this thread would just end. With Edwin gone now, it's over. We lost the trade, no use dwelling on it.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) He said "Konerko and Buehrle for sure". I should learn to read.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) AJ? Not a chance. Where did that come from? Konerko and Buehrle, for sure. Maybe Ozzie if he doesn't burn too many bridges on his way out. The Sox have retired too many numbers as it is. I like the idea of a team Hall of Fame for guys like Ventura and maybe Dye being the Series MVP (although Crede was clearly the best player), and reserve the retired numbers and statues for actual MLB Hall of Famers. It's going to be a sad day when the Sox make a statue for that clown in the broadcast booth. And you know it will happen. You really think 14 and 56 shouldn't be retired? They are not going to be MLB hall of famers but they truly deserve to have their numbers retired by the team.

    2011 TV Thread

Not technically TV but to others reading the Song of Ice and fire series, I just finished the third: "A Storm of Swords" and it is by far my favorite in the series. Holy s*** things get real.
  5. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) Yeah, but Lee and Halladay have not gotten any better from switching leagues. They have both continued their domination of major league hitters. Halladay's two years in the NL would be his second and third best ERA's of his career. Lee is having his second best year ERA wise. You could say in fact that they have gotten better in the NL.
  6. The white sox are the only team in the Central with a positive run differential.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) Last year, I spent the entire year expecting the other shoe to drop. After hearing all of the reports on him from Toronto, and then seeing his performance in 2009 with the White Sox, it was hard to think something like that happening again was impossible. Ok, I certainly didn't expect him to be like he was the first half of last season, but I didn't expect him to be the worst centerfielder in baseball either.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) I don't know. It says our division is really bad? The struggles of Beckham, Rios, Pierre, and Morel haven't been a surprise. Perhaps the extent of them has been a surprise (but even that, not so much). I just find it ridiculous that so many people think Alex Rios underachieving massively/not giving good effort is a surprise. Or that Juan Pierre isn't aging well is a surprise. Or that Brent Morel not being able to hit MLB pitching is a surprise. Or that Gordon Beckham having an OPS under 700 again is a surprise. None of them are. Adam Dunn is a SHOCK, but those guys aren't a shock or surprise. You're not surprised that Alex Rios is THIS bad? I know I am. He's 135 points under his career low OPS.
  9. ^ What he said. I love this weather.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) I don't really get these threads. I'll be watching every game possible and hoping we win. I also think we're the most talented team in the division. But, I really don't have faith (or think) that this general manager, manager, and group of players will be able to stay out of their own way enough to win this division. Where does that put me? I've never understood these threads myself because I'm always in. I thought it was about time for it though. f*** the Tigers.
  11. I think it's time to ask the annual question, are you in or out? f*** it, I'm in. f*** Detroit, f*** Cleveland, f*** Minnesota, Go you White Sox!
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) f*** Detroit.
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) Man, you are hilarious Personally, I would offer them Dunn and Rios for Rasmus.. Dunn will turn it around eventually and Rios has 5 tool potential Because they would really want to take on that kind of salary right before they have to make a huge offer to Pujols.
  14. Thornton will be 35 at the end of the season. Who knows how long he's got.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) So funny, as I always said he would have been more fitted to hit in the 50s and 60s prior to weight lifting, PEDS, etc. This is so very true. He's a big enough guy, he just doesn't seem to have the extra power that most guys his size have.
  16. The ball just dies off Teahen's bat. He constantly hits balls that I think are going to get out and just die in the air. He also hits it to the left field warning track very well.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) Indeed. Although I sincerely believe he'd hit for a bit more power in AL parks like the cell instead of pitcher parks in 3 of 4 NL West parks. Plus, Rowand's just a great f***ing guy and a guy who gets it. Rios is s*** and a waste of time. He was a gamble to begin with and it failed. I'd love to have Rowand back instead of his s***. You sure he's a great guy? The time I met him he was a complete D-Bag.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) I love driving around with my windows down. I love going outside without having to prepare myself to go outside. I also do love driving around with the windows down.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Sissies This, I spent some quality time outdoors today enjoying the heat. Beats the pants off of 0 degrees.

    Job Hunt Thread

This is great. I'm currently waiting to hear back from someone about a career center coordinator position at a high school to have a phone interview. Thanks for the tips.

    i am drunk

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) I think I violated any number of laws Saturday night, including vandalism and public urination. I talked to a police officer in downtown St. Louis the night of Mardi Gras after she saw me pee on a car and somehow got out of any trouble. I was proud.
  22. My first thought at TH was triple header. Glad Danks is back though.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) He broke that record using 700 or so less returns than the former holder. Find a spot for him. End of story. It's also a record nobody gives a damn about.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 09:39 PM) We do te same thing though, counting to the division lead even though there are 2 teams ahead of us. Not to mention that they wouldn't be gaining ground on us because we won today.
