    Virginia Earthquake

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) I slept through one in SD a few years ago. Everyone was talking about it for days. It sucked. Same thing for me in 2008 when I lived in Bloomington and that quake hit southern Il. It knocked stuff off my desk and everyone was talking about it but I managed to sleep right through it.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) 410 feet doesn't seem too big. I know. I'm surprised at the measurement. I don't believe those things anyways though. He almost hit that warehouse. I was also 14 at the time and easily impressed.
  3. Roy Williams is my new favorite Bear. I have no idea why either.
  4. QUOTE (SmashROT @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) Permanently enshrined on the Eutaw Street concourse. That's the one I mentioned earlier. Had no idea they had plaques out there. That's pretty cool.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) No, it means that more and more GMs are realizing how important that component of running an organization is (aside from the old crusty farts that still think it's 1975). You would hope so, but a lot of owners could say that they are looking for a GM that emphasizes player development to mean they are just going to go through a complete rebuild and not spend. In a perfect world you have a owner that is willing to spend on FA's with a GM looking to bolster a farm system to be used to plug holes or acquire proven talent.
  6. Can't wait for the real games to start. Preseason football is the worst of all sports.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) Remember Jeff Leifer? I remember him hitting a LONG home run in Baltimore.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) That remains to be seen. It's not like I'm cheering the guy on. He identified in detail part of his plan and what type of GM he's looking to acquire. That's a start in my book. Unless by player development he means going cheap.
  9. I love Jose. Sad to see him sans mustache though.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) No beer is allowed to be sold at any collegiate sports event. This rule was implemented a few years ago. Any collegiate event where the venue is on campus or state funded I believe.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) I'm OK with that, but add Kenny too. Aren't you sick of seeing a guy get a hit with a man on first and no way in hell the guy is going to advance to third? I mean I still want some big home run hitters, but there's got to be a happy medium. Kenny's everyday players aren't that good. I'm perfectly ok with Kenny going as well. I don't mind if he stays either. Ozzie has to go though.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) I don't know about most talented team. Rios is a dog. Everybody knew he was a dog when we got him from Toronto. Dunn is an automatic whiff. Like fathom said, Beckham is a mental midget. Maybe you can blame Ozzie but I think our talent is not that great as well. Absolutely no one saw this coming. Rios has never been anywhere near this bad and that includes his last season in Toronto. Hitters come to the White Sox and get worse. It's been happening for 5 years now. Something has to change. Beckham may be a mental midget but that's what the coaching staff is there to help with. The kid comes in and looks great and within two short years of White Sox coaching he has one of the worst approaches I've ever seen at the plate? It's time to run Ozzie and Walker out of town. Everyone get out your pitchforks.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) I could see blaming that on Guillen if it were a bunch of kids but these are veterans. Then again I'm starting to think Ozzie is a boisterous version of Dusty Baker. Maybe if this s*** didn't happen every year. Kenny gives Ozzie the most talented team in the division every single season and Ozzie does f*** all with it. Not to say I really want KW back but this is more on Guillen and I'm sick of this underachieving bulls***.
  14. Gordon Beckham is the reason that he has to go.

    2011 TV Thread

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:20 AM) I know, I was just making a joke because Adam Dunn is also worthless right now. Right Now?
  16. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:21 AM) Definitely use the church lot as White Sox parking employees are generally dicks about their jobs. For example, my family tried parking a larger Mazda and we were told it was too small to tailgate from even though smaller cars were able to tailgate. A larger car that showed up later was given the same answer, "large cars only." Go to the church, that is probably best, unless you want to get hassled. Really? I've tailgated in my Sebring by myself.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) 227 aspirins?! I've never attempted suicide or looked up the specifics of it, but isn't that probably way overkill? Aspirin is a gateway drug to Nerve Tonic.
  18. Raiders of the Lost Ark is the only movie anyone has mentioned that I've seen.
  19. Will be fun to at least see what Tyler can do.
  20. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Ide rather have a GM who is going to make smart decisions for not only now but the future as well.. KW seems like hes more interested in reclamation projects and pulling a rabbit out of his ass (Peavy, Rios) Does anyone think ANYONE else would have traded for Peavy, while injured, outside of us? Rios was struggling pretty bad in Toronto, was there any indication that if we didn't claim him someone else would have? And I get why he made those transactions, but man they arent really working out how we needed them to and they are only going to really hurt going forward with that money on the books.. I think I remember that Detroit was supposed to be in on Rios and the White Sox basically blocked him from going there.
  21. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) You can't give the job to Hahn without giving Kenny (as much I dislike him) the opportunity to work with his own hand-pick manager. Reinsdorf is to blame for all of this crap. If Cito is the guy Kenny wanted, Jerry should have signed-off. Why? It's Jerry's team.
  22. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Anybody having issues with hotmail today? Anybody still using hotmail today?
