August 16, 201114 yr @MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Pierzynski on DL with fractured left wrist, Lucy promoted
August 16, 201114 yr Well that just sucks!!! If anything good came out of this it's giving Tyler his shot...gotta feeling he'll do fine.
August 16, 201114 yr Damn. Well looks like Tyler gets his try out early. Hopefully that D picks up behind the plate.
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Ouch. Any word on Castro? Last was posted he could be out for the year as well.
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) I have a feeling this might be a blessing in disguise.
August 16, 201114 yr Sample size isn't huge, but Flowers has a 3.00 cERA. We know we can't lose anything arm-related. And Tyler knows how to take a walk and hit for power. I really don't think this is much of a loss. We do lose some leadership with AJ, that's for sure, but in tangible production, this isn't that big a loss.
August 16, 201114 yr Any catchers available via trade? Sucks that Castro is out as well. Isn't this AJ's first trip to the DL? I think so. Pretty amazing streak for a catcher to stay off the DL. Edited August 16, 201114 yr by sunofgold
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Sample size isn't huge, but Flowers has a 3.00 cERA. We know we can't lose anything arm-related. Pierzynski is a huge liability against speed teams (particularly the Twins).
August 16, 201114 yr Our ONLY dependable left handed hitter for the mid-lineup. As lots of players get waived this time of year, under the radar, is anyone aware of any catchers clearing waivers?
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Ouch. Any word on Castro? He is guarding Jabba the Hut. Ramon Castro
August 16, 201114 yr Obviously stolen joke: Evidently rubbing some dirt on it didn't work afterall...
August 16, 201114 yr When I met him @ Field of Dreams yesterday, I asked him how his wrist is, he said it's fine. What a d$mn liar! Anyway, wonder which catchers have passed through waivers.
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Damn. Well looks like Tyler gets his try out early. Hopefully that D picks up behind the plate. It can't be worse than noodle arm's. Edited August 16, 201114 yr by MattZakrowski
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) It can be worse than noodle arm's. Have you been watching? Throwing has not been impressive
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) It can be worse than noodle arm's. The throwing isn't the problem. It is the stopping the ball in the dirt where Tyler looks like Luongo against the Hawks that scares me.
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Have you been watching? Throwing has not been impressive I meant can't, typo.
August 16, 201114 yr Well that sucks... Sox have been relatively healthy this season. I guess it was bound to happen.
August 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Well that sucks... Sox have been relatively healthy this season. I guess it was bound to happen. Adam Dunn's appendix would like to remind you that it sabotaged our season.
August 16, 201114 yr Well that's not good, especially with Castro out. Lucy can play D but can't hit a lick, Flowers can't play D and is an unknown in terms of how he will hit. Hopefully this is just 15 days. But I'm not ready to say it is a season killer yet.
