True, I did have to go to school, but people can drop out of school, and they don't get a dishonorable discharge for it I'm all for respect, responsibility, and team work, but you can learn those traits in other places besides the military, even in schools for example, playing on a school team, or some other school groups, band, drama, etc. yopu dont get a dishonorable discharge for failing in the military either...you need to commit a crime to earn that distinction...there are general, and less than honorable discharges that cover failing or lessor offenses

why so much hostility for people who support the war???...we have been called racists , war mongers, right wing zealots ,accused of helping to promote genocide ..lot of other crap...not necessarily on this board but its happening.. plus has it been supporters or protestors of this war that have been breaking the law??..to me , alot of the protestors act like spoiled little kids...gee , you didnt get your way so now you going to break the law to try and prove your point...time for them to grow up.. go ahead and protest all you want...hopefully within the rules of the law...but when we have troops in harms way and there are sign saying bush is hitler...we are committing genocide and vile crap like that...dont be surprised if the other side gets pissed off.. just a thought but how can someone who is against the war and carry a sign saying we are committing genocide also support the troops???..arnt they supporting troops that are committing this so called genocide ???..

I don't ever remember things being this bad during Kosovo. one of the resons for that was most of these demonstrations are taking place in the US, europe , middle east middle east is in this one because we are in their region...fighting arabs..in kosovo we were defending arabs...why would they protest kosovo??? europe..there were protest in europe but i agree no where near what they are now..but the bad guy was in europe that time...it was in their own backyard..bad guy is not in the region this time..makes sense that there would have been less protesting in europe then USA..democratic president...how many of the protestors in the US are republican??..how many democrat???...if a republican was president in 99 and went into kosovo you would have seen protests on a similiar scale that you see now.. this war is no where near as popular as kosovo...doent mean it isnt any less just....everyone in this has a politcal agenda

another correction...16 total..12 british special commandos...4 US aviator crew.. one of the advantages of serving at nato is you have units from all the nato coutries there...as a reward for winning a soldiers board i got to train with a british cammando unit as a guest for one week..those guys were cool..3 US soldiers were there ..their commander made sure we ahd everything we needed...we got to go through alot of thier training and i have to say they are very good soilders...very professional...and when they get time off man can they party...thats were i learned the alternate meaning of the word "f**"..the brits always get a kick out of asking an american , "you got a f**" ..in england a f** is a cigerette those were 12 special soldiers along with the 4 marine aviators who probably have the most dangerous missions in this war...those choppers are up to 40 years old that the marines use..its time to update that equipment for their sake and anyone they transport. my thoughts and prayers go out to those brave men and their families.. Whoops.. sorry baggs I didn't see your reply before I replied no problem steff..matter of fact it changed again..now its down to 12 total..8 brits and 4 US...that might have been how it was first reported...probably will change some more before the real total come in...but if it keeps going down it can keep changing all day

one of the protestors in san francisco died when he fell off the golden gate bridge...2 more killed in cairo whem demostrators started throwing furniture out of windows at police..looks like it might be safer moving through iraq oh , just to be fair and balanced ...2000 people turned out in jackson mississippi in support of the war ...but i guess since no one killed ronald mcdonald it wasnt news worthy

you sound like believe past coalitions wernt built on favors and sweetners , bribes whatever...france did the same thing ..going to africa and bribing the 3 african countries on the security counsel to vote with them...but you count them in your coalition of the unwilling when you say the whole world is against us In most of these countries who are "with us," it's only the governments. Anti-war feelings are running rampant in many nations... the UK, France, Germany, Turkey, etc. The only reason these governments are with us are the sweetners and/or because they're scared to death of what could happen to them if they oppose the US machine. Not the basis of a strong alliance, I might add. im not disagreeing with that...but you guys are acting like thats never happened before...there were europeans protesting going into kosovo too...there are always gonna be large demonstrations against any war... mostly because they are high school and college kids with too much time on their hands

McDonald's have been a "hot-spot" for violence all over the world, not just France. This one's from Ecuador. putting ronnie in blackface????

danny is in a perfect position to make the team as the 5th starter...he will only get two starts in april (barring rain outs) and can work out of the pen to get his stamina up...if danny can go 5 innings in his next start he should get the call so josh can pitch every 5th day in charlotte and get called up later in the year when someone goes on the DL.. now if danny cant go..then HELLO JOSH!!!

wgn news tonight reported that they got some info from al qaeda captives that the 4th target on 911 ws the sears tower...they just didnt have enough sickos for a 4th high jacking...not sure of al lthe details because i was flipping channels and caught it in the middle but funny this subject came up tonight.. im all for peaceful protesting for anything..its everyone's right...but when you do things like stop traffic, lay down in front of military bases so they cant carry out missions , go out into the woods and spike a tee so it injures or kills someone , attack someone because they are wearing a mink coat then i think you should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.. speaking of "peaceful" protests gone wild (where is snoop when you need him ) in france a crowd for peace formed outside the US embassy...after their protest they decided to go to a local mcdonald's and completely trash it...gotta love the french :fyou

ok where to begin...geez.......thanks for recognizing my honesty.. now heres some more of it..........i recognize your honesty as being very selfish and self serving...........your not a very good team player are you???? comparing fighting a war to a school ground mix up over a girl is just plain idiotic.........there is no comparison.........you can do better than that.........as for extra recruitees stoping any further terrorist act... how do you know it wouldnt work??? what if there were a few sky marshalls on those flights.... do you think that some asshole would have been able to take over a flight with a box cutter compared to an armed marshall? recruitees could have been used there.... the "top secret boys" knew that something was coming......how about puttin some of those recruitees at the airports before all this s*** started.......extra security measures never hurt anyone.....im compare to pearl harbor because of the simple way the japs invaded us, came over here in a few planes and blasted the s*** out of hawaii........that would have been just a start if we had not reacted fast enough.............how about asking the people of pan am flight (whatever the number was slips my mind right now at this paticular moment sorry) how they felt about being blown out of the sky...........oh thats right you cant.... yet another terrorist attack left unpunished.....how about the first car bombers who drove into the twin towers a few years ago....ask those folks how they feel about terrorism who were involved in that...........there are countless other examples which im sure your educated self knows damn right well about............so i dont need to post all of them up here for you..... when do we get to say enough of this s*** is enough.....when do we put a foot down and try to stop it.......when do we all stick together(includes all countries not only us) on this issue of putting terrorism to rest once and for all..........if we all cooperated and worked together to stop assholes like saddam and bin laden then dont you think that the world would be a bit more safer place to live in???? this cant be accomplished with just 1 or 2 people.. it takes many.........and just what exactly did you mean by my pro war/pro gun ass .. whatever...............i am pro war in this case because its not over oil its all about making things a bit safer in the world by ridding a insane man who would use weapons of distruction for his own causes and not care about those who he hurt with them........as for my pro gun ass. yeah i own one and im a very responsible gun owner.. i cherish the right to shoot your ass dead if you invade my space by force....(meaning break into my home) i love my right to defend my turf and my family in that respect..............you choose another method then thats fine for you.. this just happens to be my choice and i appreciate my rights to make that choice...........and im sorry to break it to you .. i do not live in the past, i fear for the future with pansy ass pussys like yourself who are left in charge of this place..... you all can sit around and say "ohh mr. bad guy, i dont want to take up and defend my cause with force if i have to .. ill just let you come in and run things mr . bad guy ok, because you demanded to and you dont like my cause and i am too much of a puss to defend it forcefully unlike you mr. bad guy"........f*** that.........you people are pussy sissy assed spoiled brats who dont know how f***ing lucky you have it here......try living in a country whos people have no rights because their government let some other country come in and take over because they were too pussy to defend their beliefs with whatever force was necessary..........get hip to the program here pal... either you defend it or you lose it....thats the name of the game in the 2000's .....grow a pair and defend what rights you have or lose them.. its that simple.....you think its not possible for asshole saddam to come in and take over???? yeah right... try asking kuwait how long they suffered at his hands before we were good enough to step in and help them out the first time around.......that could have easily been us being taken over......espically if a bunch of pussys ran the white house............dont knock others rights to defend their rights..........espically if your not willing to defend yours........... hsc...that was freakin awesome

I was one of those guys..... and just last week I posted that Loaiza has outperformed and outpitched Rauch and Loaiza should be awarded the starting position I was lobbying for Rauch. Given the way Rauch pitched the at the end of 2002's season, I thought Rauch would be able to outpitch Loaiza. I was wrong. he out preformed himself? i didnt even catch that the first time i read it im sure he meant heredia

But we're going to have so much oil after the Iraq War that drilling in BC won't be necessary It's not going to be America drilling it's going to be Canada. I know. My point was that since the liberals in America think that the Iraq War is strictly for oil..... and since America is the biggest consumer of fossil fuels..... then, since America is going into Iraq for the oil..... BC won't have any real reason to drill since America..... being the biggest consumer of fossil fuels..... will be using the oil surplus from Iraq, not BC. No demand for the oil, no reason to drill. Remember, We don't import much oil from Iraq. I think California is the state most effected by Iraqi oil, otherwise we aren't dependent at all on it. Plus the embargos set up allowed only a small % of oil to be exported at least to the US. We did start to allow more to be exported as long as they used the money to help the people and stuff like that. Thats what I read in the Wall Street Journal at least. Had to read the article for class, and I was glad I did. Quick question, the oil fires, how much oil will that country lose if they light up all the wells? whats the deal with gas out in california??...i heard something like california has to have refineries make a special gas for them...something like that which makes it the highest gas prioces in the country...i know your taxes on gas are high too but this something else

But that my friend is how it ALWAYS worked. I don;t have a rich mommy or daddy. The latter lived 1000s of miles away from me for most of my adolescence in fact. Not to toot my own horn, but I certainly participate in assorted charities, food drives and worked with elderly. Always have. Dragged a few of my friends with me once in a while, too if you must know. As far as "comparing" goes, your arguement is VERY simplistic: just imagine your life without books, movies, museums, plays, video games, sports, music and other things that comprise the very fiber of CULTURE and LIFE...Why, there would be NOTHING worth fighting for. We need the military to protect against invasion. Once we are protected (and we have been for 30 to 60 years now dependingon who you ask), you NEED to start living. That's where movie comes in... Not that this matters as far as pertaining to the topic, but you obviously have never seen how much work and preparation goes into making a film if it's to be of HIGH quality. Hell, 70% of work is actually GETTING to the point where you have a CHANCE to make it... Nearly every single moment of my day is dedicated to my craft one way or another even when I am not ware of it. The sheer amount of physical, intellectual and psychological work is enourmous. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there. This is most highly competitive field, after all. By far. But then again it's not considered as "noble" as science, politics, medicince or soldiering i admit i dont know diddly about the film industry...but im not asking you to give up your life long dreams or ambitions , am i???.,..just asking for 2 years...dont you think if every 19-20 year old did that in some capacity the US would be much better off??? we used to have a draft..2 year commitment...none of those things you mentioned died...plus mine would be national gaurd and reserves....so it would only be a part time commitment..unless of course you got called up but i really dont see a situation where we would ever go back to the draft..

First of all, this was a GREAT post. I hate the idea of us having to go to war, but this son of a b**** left us with no alternative. Saddam is only interested in his own glory and power. He has been dispicably abusive of his own people, to say nothing of his attempted genocide of the Kurds. Saddam is pure evil and I resent the French, German, Russian, Chinese, Mexican govt's for making the US look bad when we are the ones sending our young people over there to end this madman's regime. It's all politics and money when it SHOULD be a world standing united against this dispicable tyrant. unfortunately yasny this is nothing new with the UN...they never agree on anything when it comes to actually enforcing one of their long winded speeches denouncing a evil regime..

So, like, hypothetically speaking, if I make movies that entertain and/or make people feel and think, that's NOT "contributing"? If yes, then get off your high military horse. And don't get me started on paying high taxes and consuming as a way of "giving back"... a little defensive arnt you?? youre not making any sacrifices making a movie..its what you want to do..probably what you love doing...its your choice...giving back is sacrificing two years of your life to help this country....look at the make up of the young men and women who are defending your right to make your movies??...your freedoms shouldnt be defended only by kids who dont have a rich mommy and daddy to put them through college... military isnt the only way either...volunteering at fire depts , police depts , humanitarian organizations...these could all be used to fullfill that obligation too if you disagree thats fine..but thats how i see it

I'm sure the amount of INTEL made available to the US about terrorist Organizations worldwide and within France is gargantuan in scope to Israel, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc. blind hatred and ignoring the compelxities of reality is one way to go - it feels so visceraly good - go for it, you seem to enjoy it so. nobody is ignoring the complexities of reality...if that was the case we would also be calling for boycotts of germany , belgium , china and russia...the difference is imo france worked against us to make us look bad in an attempt to prop themselves up in the eyes of the rest of the world...in doing so they went back on their word to colin powell making him look like a fool...the other countries opposing us didnt take it that far...so neither did we
-
I am not a veteran, though I regret that decision today. I agree with this statement. Not everyone is "able" to. most countries that have a draft also have other alternatvies for those that cant serve or claim conscientous objector status...i just think everyone should give back a little to this country
