Method, I can't buy the "phantom DL" argument for Sandy. The player's union would never allow it. I know it is done in the Minor Leagues, but the player's union is too strong to allow that to happen. I have never heard of that happening in the Major Leagues. Perhaps it could, but I would be hard pressed to see it. I agree with everyone about keeping only two catchers. I think JP would clear waivers on his way to Charlotte. There are a lot of veteran catchers out there that will end up in AAA that would be better options than JP. If they lose him, they can always pick up another catcher via trade. It would merely cost them a "player to be named" or a mid-level Minor Leaguer. Rios is on a Major League contract where Daubach is on a Minor League deal. The Sox do have some room to add to their 40-man roster (2 spots, I think?) so Daubach is a possibility, but I can't see him instead of Rios. I think they will keep both Daubach and Rios. Harris could be a candidate to be sent down, but I think they would prefer to keep him and Graffy. A lot depends on JM's desire to carry 12 pitchers. With all of the off games in Apri, I don't think that is necessary, but he and Coop know their pitchers and what they can do in colder weather better than I do. there is no doubt in my mind ritchie wasnt hurt when he went on the DL..he was on pace for 21 losses at the time...any pitcher that close to 20 losses in a season mysteriously ends up on the DL...the legend known as brian kingman will live on forever!!!

A difficult situation, but one any manager would love to have.... Yes, it could be a very nice problem to have. It would be interesting to see what the Sox do if Joey B does make the team. Would they trade Lee? Rowand? Thomas? Well....I think alot will depend upon how Rowand produces....If he looks as if he can be a good productive ML-level CF, then I think the organization should consider what they might be able to get for Lee...that of course assumes JoeyB continues to hit....I mean, right now, Carlos is a pretty marketable commodity and might be able to get us another LH bat or some serious minor league pitchers prospects.... I'd hate to see his bat go, but if Rowand and Borchard are the goods, then you've got 3 guys for 2 positions, and we might want to move one of them to improve ouselves elsewhere by moving one of them... But there's a long way to go before this all happens.... dont go trading anyone away yet... joe will come up when HE feels hes ready.... kw already discussed that at soxfest.. he said that joe came to them and said he wasnt ready yet....therefore im feel that they will go with how he feels instead of trying to rush him... espically since there is not a need to rush him up here just yet... of course i cant stand the yard gnome being out there but he will do for a while till joe works out whatever it is that he feels the need to and comes north........hopefully when all is said and done we see the yard gnome headed out of the sox field and he can take a few others with him............ carlos will never be marketable then he is right now..he is coming off his best 4 month stretch in his career...he has turned some heads...but he still sux in the ouitfield and cant run the bases...TRADE HIM NOW...we will never get more for him...because if he does show he is for real he will get 6 to 8 mil in arbitration next year...we wont pay that and that brings down his marketability...if he does what i thin khe is gonna do..good half /bad half and a 270 average with 25 -30 homers and 80 -90 rbi he will have all but gaurenteed himself being labled as a guy that cant put together a full season and his value drops.. this is why KW should have traded foulke last year if he didnt want him long term..imagine what foulke would have brought coming off of a 42 save season with his credentials???...you trade high..not low...billy beane figured that one out a long time ago..thus we trade for koch comming off his best year while we trade foulke comming off his worst...so who wins???if you guys dont think lee will be here next year..TRADE HIM NOW...if we wait till next year we might not be able to get a bucket of batting practice baseballs for him

if the bears actually start doing things right they are still 3-5 years away from true superbowl contenders...and thats a big if...so why do we want kordell stewart??..so we can go 8-8 or maybe 9-7 and sneak into the playoffs anly to get ousted 42-7 in the first round???..its time to r eal;ize there are no quick fixes...draft leftwich...he will be a star...start him and let make his mistakes (ala joey harrington ) as well as some great plays (ala joey harrington) and let him take the normal 3 years to develop..in those three years we can then draft (and add through free agents) the kind of players we need to develop a top notch defense and put quality people around leftwich to help him reach his potential... if we go with kordell and keep trying to win now with the personnel we have , in 3 years we will still be 5-11..just like we were 3 years ago...jerry angelo cant seem to grasp that logic...so we will suffer with kordell this year..maybe detmer next year anda rob johnson the year after that..just wallowing around looking up the asses of mediocrity

well chirac and france seems to think they can knock us down a notch or two i think when the US finally does collapse it will be from economic failure and not from war...and when we go under if the world ecomony was the same as it is now a whole lot of other countries would go with us...kind of scary

I'll agree that the colon deal was good........ but I think Kenny had less to do with it then we all think..... Although I really like the Jimenez deal. 21 year old alex fernandez is battling for a CF job with the padres after hiotting 299 in AAA last year..would much rather have him than jimenez....we dont have a legit , go get um , CF due to show up until '07 in webster...we have a s***load of 2nd baseman..hell aaron miles might beat out jimenez

i dont know if id call it the bible...but i like their approach..especially with minor leaguers...they are pretty cynical so if you get a good report from them you know thats a special athlete...unlike BA..where every team's top ten prspects are the 2nd coming of babe ruth

cant call ray the best defensive 2nd baseman but in '00 when jose was on SS ray was awesome...jose at SS really seemed to pick up ray's game....they were the best DP combo in chicago i ever saw...man they could really turn it..i never saw fox and aparicio together but ill you have to go back to those guys to find a keystone combo better than jose and ray in a sox uni...

consistency is what will tell how far konerko's game improves..he needs to put together 6 months of consistent baseball...thats hard to do..but if he can learn to do it , he will move into the upper echolon of first baseman

nobody could say manuel wasnt patient enough with clayton or lee ..why he was so quick to dismiss foulke when he accomplished more in his little pinky then those guys put together is beyond me...i thin kthat one came from above... i think for jerry to really get the respect of his players he will have to stand to KW next time KW makes a move he disagrees with...players need to see thats its manuel and not KW that run this team

minoso's lifetime OPS is only 37 points behind magglio's..minoso played in a era when pitching was a lot better..he also was a gold glover while maggs is a little above average defensively...for that era , minoso was very comparable to maggs...plus he also started his career at age 28 not doubt due to the color of his skin...he should have gotten in
-
im not jim of course but i did read in the papers when rowand showed up the first day his teammates would sneak up behind him and yell "crash"..lol Hey baggs, Little do the rest of the Sox know that we have been calling Rowand "Crash" since mid- last season on sox-and-roll . ...Or maybe they do? we should have pattened that phrase
-
if you can - to keep it up for a whole month would even be a little, ah, hard for me and I'm Italian! they have good drugs for that now

thanks greg we have 2 good candidates in the system...nick leyva, who mangaed the phillies i nthe early 90's has been in our system for quite a while..he managed the puetro rican champion winterball team this year that had jose valentin and harris on it... the other is ex-met 2nd baseman wally backman...who has been honing his craft in our minor league systems and has been picked by a few minor league baseball pubs as a guy that should get a MLB job soon..

Those liberals with their damned slantoric and propaganda of lies and deceipt. And their facts. I don't think anyone can sincerely argue that US (along with Canada, Aussie, etc) didn't play a HUGE role in preserving Allies victory in 1944-45. Those 90,000 human sacrifizes were as clutch as any in history of warfare (well, except for the courageous 3rd and 10, 12-yard run-n-slide by Jonn Elway with the game tied with 2 minutes to go in the 4th Q. to keep the ball out of Farve's hands during the '97 Super Bowl...but I digress). Trust me, you don't want to imagine Hitler winning those pivotal battles in the Western theater...But then there was the rest of the world having it's blood drained out of it and saying that US "graciously bailed the now ungrateful UN out many time" is either disingenuous or deeply fact-ignoring or both. Stop hatin' on France in other words. can we all agree WW2 team effort???...minus the french
