  1. Im gonna need a little more info on what ur talking about...........cause I've only done Yahoo free stuff....... keeper leagues are leagues where you keep the same league each year..and the owners keep their same team from the previous season..kinda like franchise mode...the one i played in for a while only let you keep 4 players each year..i thought that wasnt enough....you should be able to keep about 10 imo..with the rest going back in the draft with the new players and free agents from last season..and the draft then is reverse order from how the previous season ended... the cool think about this kind of draft are guys like borhard and prior move way up the ladder...some owners will draft for this season and try and win while others will draft future starts and look to build dynasties...do you draft barry bonds or austin kerns???...mark prior or curt schilling???... owners that dont come back you can just assign new owners to those teams for the next season...or just kill the franchise and all players go back in the draft...if the league grows you can add expansion franchises and set your expansion draft as you see fit... where you play at???...i think cbssportsline has keeper leagues..probably at espn , sandbox too..not sure if anyone has free ones (yahoo??) so soxnet would either have to sponsor or owners would have to send whoever pays the league fee the money for their franchise...im sure they are not that much...sandbox has leagues starting at 4.95(?) a team..ill bet they have keeper leagues at that price...if we get enough interest id be willing to do the research for you good thing about keeper leagues is if we have to pay..people usually stay interested ..you dont get owners who quit as soon as the season starts thanx
  2. ummm..you wanna explain that one in a little more detail marlon???

i bring those points up because marriotti is not objective...he never balances out the negative with the positive..he doesnt have to balance out in this column but he never will in future columns either...every article is negative , negative , negative when it comes to thomas....if the sox were down 3-0 in game 7 of the world series and frank hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th to win it marriotti would still find a way to spin it negatively....saying frank didnt high 5 his teammates enough or in his post game press conference didnt give enough to credit to his teammates , thats its all about frank, blah , blah , blah.....if shamme had this same press conference marriotti would be spinning it by saying shamme was 100% right on cubs management and they havent won a series since '08 blah blah blah.......he is nothing more than a glorified tabloid journalist...
  4. im not jim of course but i did read in the papers when rowand showed up the first day his teammates would sneak up behind him and yell "crash"..lol
  5. i had the same thought when i was in venice...what a s***hole!!!..and i found that veniceans (sp?) are 2nd only to the french in terms of snobbyness...i was really disappointed in venice..a gondola ride with the one you love with all that stench and floating garbage is so romantic :puke most of italy was beautiful..especially the italian alps...that place is heaven on erth..but venice was a huge disappointment
  6. not pizza though...man their pies suck..still cant chicago for the best pizza!!!
  7. "That's a slap in the face. I earned the right to be at a certain level and I'm not there anymore," Thomas said. what exactly does thomas mean by that???..its not very clear...he could be saying he is mad at KW and JR for invoking the DSC becasue he feels what he has already accomplished meand he should get preferential treatment... it also could mean that he knows he is not there anymore and it was a slap in the face to him...that he earned the right to be at that level but lost it...that he is mad at himself and thats why he is working so hard this off season... frank isnt the most articulate guy around...its hard to figure out exactly what he means at times baggs, I agree with you that comment could be interpreted differently and may have been meant differently. But it really fits with everything else he said, so it is easy to assume the obvious. thats true...we never know with frank...marriotti ripped franka new one today...it's getting harder to defend him...he had alot of valid points..but they never come out right with frank...i wish he would just shut up and hit...
  8. thanks SI1020...appreciated very much...you just got to get here a little earlier ...beat us to it...you know us sox fans will jump all over those kinds of remarks im sure whatever you would have wrote both me and CW would have been happy to co-sign...

the problem with marriotti is he never tells both sides of the story..he fails to acknowledge that thomas could have left the south side after a huge 95 season for greener pastures in new york ala jason giambi..but he chose to stay here for much less money and help the sox rebuild...then he has to watch the sox give up the ghost only 3 games out of first place in 97 in the infamous white flag trade... there are two sides to frank thomas...one..he is baby huey like jose valentin said..but he also has shown loyalty to the sox in a business where loyalty left the building with catfish hunter in 1975... marriotti is pretty much on target with his facts about frank..but he never tells the whole story
  10. well lets see..im 41, getting a divorce, got 3 kids, just got laid off, had major surgery, and wont be able to get back to work for atleast 6 months due to complications that might never be resolved...let me tell ya. hot chicks are just lining up ready to kick my door down just waiting to take me to town how the hell do i get it to post in green???...boy , i cant see why a dumbass like me aint getting laid

  12. since alot of us have been here together for more than a year now and we seem to be breing ing in new devoted fans to this site..this might be a real good group to try a keeper league with...i think most of the owners would come back year after year...any chance soxnet could sponsor that iof the interest was high enough???

  14. what do you mean we are oblivious to the facts..and also that were oblivous to the fact that this season might blow up in our faces...no offense but are you nuts???...i was 18 when the '79 sox staff of kravec , baumgarten , trout and wortham were going to lead the sox to WS after WS for the next 15 years and then watched in horror as each guys arm fell off the next season.... we all know all too well about disappointments...

  21. here is my line up as of right now..this is a 15 team league 2b ray durham LF trot nixon SS A-ROD CF ken griffey 3b eric chavez CA jorge posada RF tim salmon DH reggie sanders 1B jeff liefer/ scott hatteberg bench - Ca damion miller pitching SP - freddie garcia , odalis perez , randy wolf , josh beckett , kip wells RP - scott williamson , vald nunez back up starters - dan wright , paul wilson , brett tomko back up reliever , ramerio mendoza good , bad , indifferent..besides first base..i know they suck
  22. i could use a first baseman..if anyone wants to make me an offer
  23. sox could win w/o magglio too...
  24. when i make a top ten...i look at positions that are weak overall and rate those players higher..even if their stats are a little less then lets say a first baseman , a position thats loaded.. it used to be catcher and SS that id always make sure i got with my first two picks...i changed it this year to catchers and 2nd baseman because we seem to be heading into a dry spell with 2nd baseman as far as fantasy goes... as far as pitchers go they go up and down so much i usually dont draft a highly rated pitcher...i consistently pick up and drop pitchers based on recent performances throughout the year..i find by doing some research i can find sleepers all over the place....you cant do that at other position..if your catcher sux , then you either trade , live with him , or pick up a guy on the waiver wire that just as bad...there are no sleepers at catcher...anyone who even remotely looks like he might get you some points out of that position will be on someones roster...pitchers, all season long guys are coming up from the minors as guys either get hurt or fail miserably in their roles..can always find a pitcher...atleast thats my theory.. with that in mind my list would be a little different than yours... a-rod would be my number one pick..soriano would be in my top 5...piazza has to be high up on my list too...depending on the league closers could be really valuable...especially in leagues like sandbox...that also has something to do with rating fantasy prospects..how does your league score??? you got the top point getters up there..but if you spent your first 2 picks on an outfielder and a 1st baseman..youll get screwed at the thin positions...jmo
  25. while frank gives the media ammunition against him..they run with it for all they can get...when sammy sosa ,who is by far a much less diserable person then frank , does the same stupid things , the chicago covers it up or puts a positive samme spin on it...thats where the unfairness lies..thats what bugs the s*** out of most sox fans did frank ever beat his wife with a rum bottle?? did frank ever say another teammate, a guy that had more in hits in the decade of the 90's , was totally worthless??? did frank ever set up phoney charities, take the money from that charity, then use it to put up his family in hi-rise expensive apartments?? did frank ever take money from said charities to hire a captian to bring his yatch from the dominican to the states???... did frank ever use money from a chairty to buy his yatch in the first place...causing a government investigation where frank had to pay back 4 million dollars to the charity??? did frank ever tell reporters , welcome to my clubhouse?? does frank year after year report to spring training late because he is tooling around the carribbean in his yatch??? frank ever leave 10k in a towel at a hotel then when a reporter found out about it claim oh i lost it???? did frank ever act as bad as smamme did and does concerning his contrat..has frank ever demamnding that the sox trade him immediately??? did frank ever tell a 5 year old boy who told him he might be the greatest player ever someday , "hey , i thought i already was" can you imaigine if frank did all these things what the chicago press would do to him???..yet sosa gets it all covered up or gets a positive spin put on it
