  1. paul harvey used to do these all the time i remember one about a guy that on a sunday afternoon walked into the guys house pointed a gun at the first person he saw and yelled freeze...ends up he was a cop and he was having a party wirth his cop buddies and about 15 off duty police officers drew on the guy.. i remember one where a guy went to rob a bank and used his own deposit slip to write the stick up note on a guy went into a 7-11 and bought a candy bar and gave the clerk a 20...when he opened the cash register the guy jumped the counter , pushed the cleck out of the way , grabbed a handful of cash and ran...leaving the 20 and the candy on the counter...the guy got away with 17 dollars in cash:) another guy saw a cop pulled this lady over and was giving her a ticket...the cop left his door open so the thief thought it would be funny to jump in the cop car and take off...so he does...as he takes off down the street he looks to his right and is starring at the cop's partner..and his pistol pointing at his head... a guy robbed a store after it closed and got locked in with a couple of security dogs so he called 911 to get him out.. this happened when i lived in oregon...a couple robbed a bank and it was so easy the very next day they robbed the same bank..got away with it both times
  2. not me ill be moving to jamaca to taste the fine crons over there i wont fight a war. So you'll try do be a draft dodger, and you support this war? Pardon me if I'm incorrect I simply don't follow the logic if that is it. Pardon me for a second but I am going to throw my own brand of fire starter. We (as one representative of the non U.S.A.) are constantly bombarded with this notion that the U.S. consider themselves the country that has twice saved the world from hostile occupation. The problem I have with that is that American troops in the first world war spent less that 100 days in actual combat. A contribution that was invaluable and a sacrifice that can't be repaid for many, however to take credit for the outcome of that war is very self serving and insulting. Likewise in the Second World war where the U.S. take credit for the liberation of Rome and have declared themselves winners of that war despite the fact that the months of fighting the German occupation to make the liberation of Italy possible was done by Kiwi's, Aussies, Brits and Canadians. The politics of the situation ordered that American troops take Rome and with it the credit for the liberation. Forgive me if I am incorrect as I will defer to the fact that I am not officially a high school graduate and therefore my history could have been misrepresented to me. My eventual point is that the American Empire may in fact be untouchable today, but to have this notion that your country was resposible for winning the Two World wars (the assault on Japan not withstanding), does not do the situation justice. The U.S. by most people outside America's account is not batting 1.000 in forein wars. WW I- Not much of a factor WW II- decisive victory over Japan upon development of Nuclear Bomb. Korea- Victory in South Korea, defeat in North Korea Vietnam- Brutal defeat. Again I reiterate that I am not looking to offend, merely give a different opinion on the debate ongoing. you seem to be equating time with invovement...just because the US wasnt there from day one doesnt mean you can lesson the role played...90,000( i beleive thats the number , please correct me if im wrong) american soldiers are buried in cemetaries in france as a reminder of how "minor" our role was
  3. morgan hasnt been a starter in years..he is a middle reliever now
  4. aarons only problem is he is listed at 5'8 but really is more like 5 '6..its the same s*** david eckstein went through..its not that eckstein was a late bloomer as jerry manuel said but that there is prejudice(not racial) in baseball and when your as short as miles you dont get taken seriously...just like eckstein
  5. if we keep JP and daubach then the final spot comes down to rios and harris...i think that decision comes to down to if rios can play CF..if he can then you send harris to AAA where he starts in either cf or 2b...if rios cant play CF i say we trade him or cut him..im not a rios fan so its an easy call for me...id get rid of rios..daubach basically takes his position on the team and does it better... i would try and work my roster to keep JP...because like you i think sandy is finished
  6. what bugs me most about manuel is two fold...first, like heather says he tinkers with the line up way too much...one of his ST quotes so far has been he wants a left handed pitcher in the 5th spot if possible because it makes the other manager use different line up....not neccessarily true jerry...just because you tinker with the line up everyday doesnt mean other manager do too...he changes the starting line up way too much for me... 2nd reason..and this one has me baffled because of his tinker....he never uses his bench in games....how many times did royce clayton hit in the 8th inning when we wre down a run or two and graffy was on the bench , sometimes hitting almost 100 points higher then the choice???..or what about lee in the first half of the season when he was struggling batting late in the game against a righty pitcher when liefer was on the bench??... i want the exact opposite in a manager..i want a guy to find our 9 everyday players and stick with them except for the occasional day off every starter needs...but i want him to liberally use the bench as game situation dictates...jerry seems to think if he tinkers with the pre-game line up that once the game starts he can nod off resting his head against the bat rack in the dug out (i actually think more than once he was sleeping in the corner there...head against the bat rack, arms folded , hat pulled down , doesnt move for 2 innings - doesnt take a detective to figure that one out ) jerry has it backwards..i hope he figures it out this year as for handling the pitching staff..other than his complete screw up of the foulke situation ..i think he does a good job there...i like how he tries and gets those lefty-lefty / right -righty match ups late in the game..i wish he would do it on offense too... in the clubhouse he needs to keep his word more..he reminds of the parent in the store with a whiney 2 year old who wants a candy bar and because mom said no the kid throws a tantrum...mom threatens to ground him , spank him ,whatever if he doesnt stop and he keeps crying anyways..a few minutes laster you see them in the checkout line and the kid has a candy bar in his hand...thats jerry...
  7. cw and hsc...hahahaha...very funny just go to the white sox mlb and look under the daubach thread...there are about 5 posts from beantown fans who will tell you everything you need to know about daubber...this guy is gonna really help this team alot..on the field and off
  8. I GO TO THE STORE FOR 1 HOUR AND THIS IS WHAT I COME BACK TO!!!!!!!!..all of you get in the corner NOW ...and no dessert for you either!!!
  9. sounds like trade bait to me! Hmmmmmm what to trade for what to trade for? you wont get anything for a 26 year old minor leaguer that never played above AA...but if he beats out jimenez..he could bring something in trade
  10. this one sounds the best thus far. 20 bucks, i could afford that. but no way to pay it no credit card:( in order to get it at 20 bucks a team one person has to pay for all of us...so if murc or whoever at soxnet does it anyone who wants to join can just send them the 20 bucks via check or money order...so no problem if you dont have a credit card...
  11. why is it when i click on my book mark for soxnet i get chisports radio???....RPS..did you hijack soxnet??..

    Crede

id go with hudler's numbers..maybe even a little less...its his rookie year(well first full year) and he has been hyped forever...under a lot of pressure..lets cut him some slack
  13. im pretty sure since jose has been here...on all games where he started at SS we are playing over 600 ball
  14. i checked cbs sportsline..they dont have keeper leagues but for 139 bucks a season..10 teams...you set all your rules just like sandbox..and if we want it a keeper league murc or whoever will have to keep a record of rosters for next season...if i remember right cbssportsline uses every teams 40 man roster so we could make our own farm reports and still get the players that would be in keeper leagues.... be alot more work but its cheaper
  15. murc..this league sounds real good...sandboxplus...it cost 140 bucks for 7 teams...so if we go 10 it looks like 200 bucks..maybe a little less...i believe its also 4.95 a month to keep the account active......but they let you set up the league anyway you want...ill keep looking for more.. ive played sandbox before..its a nice set up...very professional SBX Baseball Features You set up Your League – Your Way * Choose customizable Roto, Fantasy Point, or H-2-H * Powerful live draft - you pick the time limit per pick! * Hold off-line drafts with open- and multi-list options * Set-up AL only, NL only, or standard full league * Divide your league into divisions * Use Farm Roster to hang on to prospects * Use Injured Reserve to hang on to injured stars * Create new keeper leagues or * Import your previous Full Count keepers * Set your own games-played-per-position requirements * Set your league to vote on all trades * Pick the number of votes needed to veto * Change league parameters in mid-season * Customize your waiver wire set-up * And More…. 17. where is your family from molto???
  18. It's funny but I remember Kip was 91-94 on the fast radar gun (the only that registered Baldwin at 95 and Foulke at 94 and Colon at 102) in the 3rd ining...wow, he must have gotten a whole new arm on E-bay. Besides, velocity means s***. Just ask Matt Anderson and Keith Foulke. as soon as wells showed up in pittsburgh they changed his delivery and told hm not to think...just trust his stuff...even pirates gm dave littlefield said we knew we could get mph from kip because we saw his mechanics were messed up in chicago..but even we didnt think his arm was this good...thats what he said after with the sox..kip came up throwing 95-96 in'99..by the time nardi got threw with kip was all screwed up...that was after an 8 innings 2 hitter
  19. kip this and kip that... wahhh.. face it he sucked.......deer in the headlights........lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol ..................... Talent-wise, Kip Wells was the best pitcher we've had in a looooooooooong time. double m you did not just go there ... paaaaaa leassseeeeee.....dont tell me you just said that kip was one of the most talented pitchers we had in a long time....i suppose mark is chopped liver????? hes way better than kip will ever hope to be.. and he wasnt supposed to be much at all remember..... kip wells was throwing 97 mph last year in the 8th inning of some games....we have one guy on this team thats come close to accomplishing that (not counting bartolo who didnt come through our system)...that would be danny wright..throwing 96 mph in the 9th inning of his shut out against boston last year...you can probably count on one hand the number of pitcher who can go into the 8th of ballgames throwing 97 mph or better
  20. thats in a 15 league..that team will compete fine...probably better than mine
  21. nobody is bashing wunch..he's a great guy... i wish nothing but the best for him...but if arnaldo munoz outpitches him in ST he will knock kelly off the roster... kelly then will either have to agree to go to charlotte or be cut loose or traded...kelly even acknowledged as much in an article earlier this year with only carrying 11 pitchers it really makes it a liability to have a lefty specialist....if munoz can get lefties out as good as wunch could plus have the ability to get out righties better than kelly and pitch 2 or 3 innings when needed..he gets the job...its that simple...when jerry said the sox were only gonna carry 11 pitchers kelly's job became in serious jeapordy...he really has to pitch his ass off this spring and prove he can go for more than just 2 or 3 batters tops...we can not afford "the lefty specialist kelly" on an 11 man staff..the other 10 guys then have to pick up the slack and that leads to overworking the bullpen...kelly has to expand his game let me ask you this...if it came down to carrying kelly as the 12 pitcher and eliminating a position players spot which would likely be brian daubach...who goes???....bye bye kelly
  22. me too..aaron seems like a good guy...hopefully he makes the most of his shot...this could be his one and only
  23. better question might be will the third place team in the division even win 62 games???...wouldnt that be cool if we had 3 - 100 team losers in our division
  24. the only shot would be if someone played on the '06 - '17 - 19 teams...highly unlikely
  25. You're definitely entitled to one good exciting mid life crisis. Don't give up. I almost bit the dust in 2000. I'm very stubborn. The average sixth grade kid would take one look at me and figure I can kick this guy's ass. I worked real hard to get strong again. My bench press is in the 300 pound range. I don't know what happened to you, but don't give in to infirmity. By the way, I couldn't get the frikkin green to work either. i hit like 39 and everything just stopped working...lol....i had surgery to repair a blown disc in my neck and came out of it with myl eft arm paralyzed...ive gotten alot of movement back since but no stregth whatsoever..i cant even lift a gallon of milk yet with my left arm..been in rehab and am doing the exercise and i see a little progress but it seems likeits taken forever..its been 2 months now...it sux but its life.. im not giving up..too much to live for despite the crisis..just fun to b**** about every now and then
