  1. kip this and kip that... wahhh.. face it he sucked.......deer in the headlights........lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol ..................... he sucked because he wasnt mature enough after 1/2 year in the minors...but kip doesnt suck anymore..and todd ritchie , there isnt a word strong enough to describe how bad he sux...we could sure use kip as our number 3 starter this year
  2. so what should we do??...become bandwagon fans???...should we be angel fans this year until they lose..then go on to the next winner??? none of us like losing ...we hate it..if you dont think sox fans hate losing then explain the post strike/white flag trade drop in attendance..how many sox fans really tried to shove it to reisndorf for putting other things above winning?? its crazy to say we are losers because the team we follow hasnt had much success..or if we stay fans we must love losing...thats beyond rediculous...one year, hopefully will im still on this earth , the sox will win it all..and that WS will mean more to sox fans then all 27 or whatever they are combined mean to yankee fans...because we will have been rewarded for all our years of loyalty through the long lean times... show me a d-rays fan sitting in the outfield all by himself rooting his team on at the trop and thats a guy ill go sit with and buy him beers all game...thats a true fan..and one thats definately not a loser.. a loser is a guy that changes his alliegences whe things get tough...i imagine a guy like that will also be one that runs out on his family when times get tough...if you have loyalty..youre no loser
  3. these same thing were said about ted williams and joe dimaggio..hell look at babe ruth and all the crap that surrounded him...he gehrig went like 4 years w/o saying a word to each other... frank is no different then most superstars..
  4. too bad nobody thought about this when kip wells was here...we rush the guy to the majors with less than 1/2 year of professional baseball....then are shocked when he s***s his pants after some rough outings and loses confidence...give up on him and now are once again shocked that he doing so well in pittsburgh but disguise that fact with kip was a bust and would have never done that well here..he had to have a change of scenery
  5. I think Liefer may surprise some folks if he gets the chance to play everyday Baggs. I'm pretty happy with my team. Baggs, I know one thing, every time you were picking I was telling Gary that I was hoping you wouldn't take the guy I wanted. So many times you took one of the guys on my list, lol. I like my Thome/Mo Vaughn first base combo i hoping for that on liefer...i gues hattaberg is a good safety net though..considering i drafted him in the last round jas..thats cause great minds think alike
  6. no one does mckay is best remembered as a WR at brigham young...he is a real good athlete...just cant put that athletic ability to good use...
  7. those have to be old quotes...those are the exact same things both guys said last all star break...too much of a coincidence both guys would say the exact same thing the same day again.. god frank will you shut up and just hit the ball...every paper in chicago is gonna rip you tomorrow...when will you learn???
  8. after the way his ex has acted it would be funny as hell if frank pulled a curtis enis and retired then went to work for 6 bucks an hour..then call up his ex..oops baby..the gravy train's over
  9. so what did frank say...anyone hear it???
  10. i thought i did pretty well in the draft..except for my jeff liefer /scott hattaberg first base combo...hahahaha
  11. i guess somebody will rise to the forefront..i got a feeling it will lieberman by default though
  12. I love it when you rewrite history! Your versions are so much more exciting than what really happened! Could you give me the new version of what happened in Georgia in last year's Senate election when Bush went there and accused Max Cleland of being soft on protecting America and homeland security - and supported a candidate who wouldn't serve in Vietnam because of the old trick knee - while Max Cleland, the soft on homeland security Senator according to Bush, lost his limbs in Vietnam - and why was Cleland soft on security? Because he wanted civil service protection for the new cabinent department, you know, civil service, which was instituted to eliminate patronage - but I am sure the revisionist version of that election will be so much more exciting than the truth, just as the revisionist theory of the 2000 Missouri election is. so where am i wrong?? did ashcroft not stop running ads?? did democrats not flood the state with ads calling ashcroft a racist because he was tied to some southern history group or whatever it was??? did the polls in st louis not stay open late in hugely democratic districts?? was ashcroft within his rights to call for a recount but choose not too??? where am i revising history??? you cant even give a republican credit when he helps one of your own...im not asking you to buy into his politics...but cant you agree that he did an honorable thing with how he treated the carnahan situation???
  13. what is an asshat? that is not a phrase used in western Michigan and the picture in my mind is too bizarre for words - help me out here, please! And I will agree that Ashcroft is one, whatever it is. It is just a random slang term making fun of somebody. Ashcroft thinks that calico cats are harbingers of Satan....this is true. He also hailed a confederate southern magazine (that sold t-shirts celebrating the assassination of Lincoln) for "setting the record straight". The voters of Missouri were right...They were faced with the decision for Senate: John Ashcroft A 7 week old rotting maggot ridden corpse And the corpse won. That should say something. that is just total horses*** apu and you know it..when carahan's widow decided to run ashcroft said that out of respect for mel he refused to run any ads...the democrats then blitzed the media after they said they wouldnt with ads against ashcroft calling him a racist and all kinds of other crap..still ashcroft kept his promise and didnt run any ads...on election night the cheating dem bastards in st louis kept the polls open in democrats districts 2 hours after they were suppose to close..remember that???..how many extra votes did gore get there???...3 precincts that were in the poorer neighborhoods and were 95% democrat..ashcroft could have called for an investigation but didnt..he also could have called for a recount since the widow carnahan's victory was within the margin of error.. but he didnt...saying it wasnt the right thing to do after all that happened..this was after he personally attacked relentlessly by the democrats of missouri..and this also knowing that he was giving a 50/50 senate and the dems some power im not an ashcroft expert..im not sure about his politics...but what he did on election night 2000 earned my respect...it shouldnt be belittled like that guess al gore wasnt watching that when learning how to lose gracefully
  14. Oh, common...I'd understand the outrage if you had said we belonged in the top 7, but top 18? That's only 4 places higher than current 22. That's, like, nothing...And the ranking isn't EXACT science, you know. Not by a long shot...but you are welcome to PROVE why exactly the Sox FS is better than 22nd if you can. Maybe I am missing something. . 1. Rauch isnt NEARLY as tauted after the surgery as he was a year ago. 2. Malone had a REALLY bad year comparatively. Yes, he was hurt, but that's no excuse as far as whoever making the ratings is concerned. In fact, injury factor makes it worse. 3. Honel is 20 and a low A ball player. Enough said. 4. Olivo is really good, but he hit just 260 in his 3 years before this one and the fact that Billy Beane (read: God) traded him away doesn't make his stock rise. Besides, he GOT PROMOTED. 5. Borchard's AAA days are numbered and scouts know it. (So far, you are 0 for 5) Lemme see: Ginter is a bust and Biddle has done NOTHING of note and is injury prone; Kip Wells, Mark Buerhle and Fogg as well as Garland and Wright are no longer in the minors as you might have heard by now. Ditto for Crede and Rowand and Harris. Stumm had a serious operation as did Barcelo. Bobby Valentine is traded and Mario Valenzula suffered a SERIOUS shoulder injury. Brooks Kieshniek is no longer with the club and both Ulacia and West have dissappointed scouts while pitching in a pitcher-friendy stadium. Tim Hummel had a terrible year and Fernandez was traded. Casey Rogowski had an injury-laden year. Ditto for power-throwing Kyle Kane...I mean...WOW, is our system depleted or what?! (Munoz, Ring, Almonte and Miles were the only ones who impressed scouts very much and I doubt they are going to be in the minors for long (either brought up or in case of 26yo Miles traded). The thing is that they are relief pitchers. Not nearly as important as position or starting pitchers) Only additions of Cotts and Diaz as well as progress of Anthony Webster kept us from sliding into the Bottom Five in my opinion. So, you see why Sox farm system circa 97-2000 (that also had Maggs, Lee, Crede, Sirotka Parque as well as highly touted Barcelo and power-hitting Leifer and AA AllStar Jeff Abbott) is NOT nearly the same as the one we have NOW as far as Major League scouts and professional writers are concerned. Look around you, man. There are other teams besides besides the Sox with talent to boot. And for the love of all that's holy, stop pretending that Sox were "snubbed" or "insulted". Maybe Jim Fainter was right about fans' blind optimism afterall hey i said 22 was about right
  15. i hope the feeding frenzy trickles down to wright and garland...they are the key..if they both improve we walk away with the division
  16. i read the transcripts of what sinclair said..it ws written at a time when american was really taking heat both from inside and outside the US...i believe he made his statement when the US decided it was time to pull out of vietnam in 73 i think...i wish i kept a copy of it...it was a great speech
  17. thanks cw..so does that make up for me saying yes to the maggs /lee - griffey /dunn trade ???
  18. atleast you get one game.. and yes..ordering scrubs tickets area disaster..just like the park
  19. did you get kicked out of WSI again??
  20. Listen, season-ending trades suck sometimes and fans do suffer, but, common, if you think Danny Darwin-led team was going to catch the Indians powerhouse (that eventually was 2 outs away from winning the friggin' championshiop!) that year, I have a nice bridge...Hawk is a FRANCHISE announcer, but so what? He is a funny and insighful commentator (I don't think anyone who praised Steve Stone can contest that; he may not have the academic vocabulary down, but this aint academia-land), so what else do you want? For him to take JR to task? Even our GM's can't do that, FCOL. the indian powerhouse that year that came within 2 outs of the world series won 86 games..they only had two pitcher win more than 10 games and out of their starting 5 eras's ranged from 4.28 to 5.65....that was no powerhouse... had we traded at that deadline for help instead of dumping..we could have easily caught the indians...plus..its a PR disaster to give up only 3 games out of 1st....after the sox, no team in baseball will ever do that a..no matter how hopeless they feel the situation is...hell, teams 8 -10 games back are trading to improve..and look at st louis in '01...8 games back..trade for woody williams (who they still have) and he catches fire and leads them to the playoffs...you never know if we would have traded for someone to help that team if he would have been our woody williams... plus the indians winning only 86 games but going to the series only emphasizes how weak the AL was that year and how good are chances were if we just got in it... plus,plus...who do have left from the white flag trade 6 years later..all those prospects??..no one..and what did we accomplish with them when we had them??..one division title and a 3 and out in the playoffs worst move for the sox since the players in '19 threw the series...
  21. Those guys aren't well liked in either party, haha. I mean Dubya is a boozehound coke addict, his wife killed somebody running a stop sign after which she got busted for DUI's and Dick Cheney's been busted for DUI's and has that whole energy scandal. bush should be commended for kicking his drug and alcohol addiction..how many years has it been???...if he had made even one slip up it would have been in the press...he 's an example to all those who are addicted that there is hope...calling him a boozehound coke addict is very cheap
  22. Cubkilla, don't give me this s***. Am I speaking to any NY fire fighters or police officers of NY port authority people here? No I am not. My first cousin was an LA deputy sheriff killed in the line of duty, my former partner was a 30 year fight fighter, now retired due to age. So I won't take any s*** about who risks their lives. Who are the big go to war people here who I am addressing? College students? 20 somethings who think others should fight wars they shoot their mouths off about? You believe in something, you back it up with your life. You don't ask others to fight your wars. Unless you are a hytpocrite or only believe in war when your ass is safe in bed or on a bar stool. i already did..for 7 years..alot of us that did serve believe we need to take out saddam...take him out now and we will pay a price..if we wait..we pay a bigger price
  23. That's because Hriniak told Soso to lose the Mr. T Starter Kit
  24. My thoughts exactly(UNLESS it is a player like Lofton that we are trading and we would be getting two pretty good arms in return). It wouldn't hurt getting a good defensive catcher that is coming out of college....give him 2-3 years, and he would be able to be up. Also in that round we could be getting a very, very good player with raw talent. And every once in a while, you'll get lucky and get a 38th round draft pick and he turns out to be your ace. Damn! Why weren't you guys here when that trade was made? Everyone ripped on me saying that we'd have gotten nothing for Ray if we didn't trade him. I was saying we'd be better off with the pick instead of a 6.+ ERA pitcher in Adkins. i was here right with ya ripping on that trade..for about 2 days..then i got so pissed off at the sox i quit watching the rest of the season...just couldnt take KW's incompetence anymore
