parent club does have a responsibility to atleast attempt to put competitive teams on the field for their minor league affiliates...about 2 years ago the owners of the charlotte franchise were so pissed at the sox because they were losing money because the talent level was so low...i remember we added for major leaguers brooks kiesnick and damon buford to appease them...so thats what all these signing are..keeping charlotte competitive so they can draw

i tallied up all the rating and here are the averages.....20 soxtalk fans voted so far .. i just added up the numbers and divided by 20..so the lowest number is the guy we best feel will have a break out year crede 33 points for a 1.65 average konerko 42 points - 2.1 rowand 60 points - 3.0 olivo 77 points - 3.85 harris 87 points - 4.35 soxnet posters pick joe crede to have a bust out year..konerko to bounce back atleast close to his all star form...we seem to be on the fence as to what aaron rowand will do...hopefully harris and olivo picked up some college along the way cause soxnet posters dont think they will have very long careers thanks guys..we will have to check this at the end of the season and see if we should start our own pyschic network

can you provide a link to any article that said durham was a clubhouse problem??..all i heard was great things about him...i remember durham being reported as the go between when manuel and thomas were having difficulties in '00..manuel said durham really stepped up that year and started to take on a leadership role.. sometime acting like a leader could make you unpopular...but i honestly dont remember anyone saying anything bad about ray...if thats true it would actually shock me...

his career after???...both is obp and BA were higher than his career average since he got traded...he got hurt early on last year and missed a significant amount of time for the first time in his career...but when he was playing his numbers (other thanSB's being down which is accounted for by his hamstering injury) were as good or better than his career numbers..durham hit 30 doubles last year in 110 games...average that out over 150 games and he was on pace for about 45 doubles...durham last year 110 games , 410 ab , 61r , 117h , 30d , 5t , 8hr, 33rbi , 285avg , 366 obp.. you think willie harris will even come close to those numbers???

i said JB's era was the lowest of his career when he got traded to the dodgers...you come back with this... "You were shocked that Baldwin's ERA was lower in L.A.? "....how do you jump to that conclusion???..where do i say i was shocked?? as for the 2 years at 7 million...no it doesnt it make it fact but combine it with what what came out of williams' own mouth..that they were negoiating to sign baldwin and couldnt come to an agreement it doesnt seem to far fetched to think that the reports of a 2 year 7 million dollar deal from the sox and baldwin wanting about 5 million a year were really stretching the truth...the numbers might have been a little different but they seem to fit the situation at that time...and i didnt say it was fact..i said it was reported.. biddle had 34 saves last year..koch had 11...and imo koch is not an effective closer...effective to me would be above average...he is average or functional at best...at worst he is what he was last year...his number are horrible when matched up against the best closers in baseball..kieth foulke blows koch out of the water...if you want to argue that ill give all kinds of data to back that claim up...but how anyone can argue any different is beyond my comprehension... is biddle great..no..he was decent last year for montreal..id have accepted decent from koch..that was all i was hoping from from him anyways..couldnt even get that..btw..everyone but LA knew baldwin was hurt and done???...well one thing is for sure..evidently everyone but KW knew art howe abused billy botch down the stretch in oakland..ask Mathew from this site..i remember him saying that and many agreeing with him.. good trades kw made were... marte and colon...every other trade was horrible to little or no help at all...how anyone can argue wells for sirotka was a good trade for the sox , again , just throws me for a loop...wells was expected to win 20 games for us and lead us farther into the playoffs than in '00..instead he goes 5-7 and gets hurt and because sirotka never pitched again due to injury that made the wells trade a good one???...i dont follow that logic at all..does that mean the clayton trade was a huge success too because myette failed to live up to expectations???..if thats youre reasoning then i guess you wouldnt be able to see 2 bad trades for 1 good one.. one thing on wells..he had 12 decisions winning 5...if he could have performed up to par before the injury..going maybe 8-4 or 9-3 before being shelved , we would have been right in the thick of the rae...remember..before all the injuries of '01 hit the sox were playing horrible baseball...after wells went down the team's performance improved...not saying he is totally at fault for that but if the team played.600 baseball until thomas and wells went on the shelf..we would have probably won the division..or atleast been well in the hunt..that team won like 20 games in june after the injuries hit...even w/o those injuries...that team was already underperforming.. you keep saying that i look at things in retrospect...evaluating on anything but results leads to making excuses for losing and also gives excuses to lose in the future..williams has been here 4 years now..how else are we suppose to look at them???...he is paid a huge salary for results..not excuses....crying poor is crap..he was with this organization as a player and in management for how many years???...he knew the financial constraints when he took the job and in his own words he said he considers anything short of a championship a failure...so do i...again you fail to acknowledge he recieved a 33 million dollar increase in the '01 payroll...how is that poor???...KW pissed it all away.. as for schu as GM..he failed too...especially with the white flag trade..perhaps the biggest mistake in baseball history since harry frazziere traded babe ruth to the yankees...

you really dont get my point...you keep thinking this is blind hatred...i supported kenny williams whe he was first hired..i went on the toronto baords and defended the wells trade...eventhough i thought the premise was stupid..i was giving him the benefit of the doubt...i applaulded him on the marte deal , still do..i liked the colon move , i said last year any move williams makes to bring in veterans in to help the team win i was for it..i loved the everett deal and think we should have kept him.. i dont buy the arguement about a small payroll because other teams including minnesota in our division have gone to the playoffs with a smaller budget..if the budget is so small how do you explain that??? i have a philosophical difference with how kenny williams builds a team...and i believe it cant work for us year in and year out...he believes in trying to lock up home grown talent between years 3-6..regaurdless of position...getting them to take less for long term deals...i dont agree with that.. corner players i let go to arbitration...then either trade them or let them walk and get draft picks for them...it cost too much for players that dont play key roles...so where would i be??...way ahead on these guys..konerko would be making practically nothing this year..koch too...ordonez i dont think would get 14 million in arbitration either...i might end up paying lee more.. starting pitching, he did good locking up buehrle..i would i could have done the same...no one else on that staff thats under six year should have a long term deal... the money i saved would have been spent up the middle..durham would still be here..he wanted to stay here and is the only veteran that left that i emember didnt have a bad thing to say about sox management...they wernt that far off in money..probably about a million a year if reports where right in '02..and id still have money to go the free agent market to get another player up the middle..irod perhaps last year..how much better would last years team had been with irod , durham added to the beginning roster??? i dont have blind hatred for KW..outside of the sox he's probably a good guy... my next door neighbor's a great guy too but i wouldnt want him running the white sox... good post...you know whats funny..if reinsey would just go all out and actually win a world series...he could then go back to his miserly ways and still reap the benefits of about 2.5 million fans a year...just one world series is all it would take..just to be able to say we got one and the scrubs dont... it would then be much easier to support a team like this one..
