    5/4 Games

Fry and Guerrero still to come tonight. Given the state of the big club, I'm finding solace with the kids. I saw that Larry over at SSS doesn't think much of JG, long-term, but other reports have been more encouraging. Would be nice if Brooks fX data gets expanded to milb sometime soon - would really add a lot to all of our "scouting" abilities.

    5/4 Games

QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Tim Anderson's strikeout rate is 17.6% with over 100 PAs hitting a true .300. Sure we'd like some more power/OBP but a nice start for the top prospect to be. Jacob May has BABIP well into the .400's. Hit the breaks on the bandwagon although I do like him overall. Danish keeps doing it. Young for high A AA but more than holding his own. 2.66 BB/9 and 9.22 K/9. 3-0 with 2.63 ERA. Very small sample, but no surprise with his arm angle - he's getting hit by the lefties. This can be mitigated, hopefully, with further refinement of his change. I thought I read he was the youngest player in the Southern League. Edit: Funny, we were both typing the same thing about improving the change, and both used the word mitigated. You're awesome, raBBit!

Danish has been less ground-balley this season, but has averaged 9K per 9. Also increased his K rate going from A to A+. It's a nice bonus that he's a fifth infielder, has a terrific PO move, and is tougher to steal against than most LHP. And he has all the makeup/mental intangibles in spades. Would like to see the GB rate back up, as well as the XBH % back down - but likely adjusting to the much tougher AA competition. Still, 5 starts with only one allowing more than 1 run isn't bad for a pup making the biggest milb leap. I think the best is yet to come.

    5/3 Games

QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) 3.1 innings for Montas, and he's done. Hopefully he's not injured, and it was a pitch count limit based off of whatever kept him out last game. Yeah, hopefully just stretching him out again. 57 pitches.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) Roster meant nothing when evaluating Robin in 2013 and 2014. It was the team's record was all that mattered. Why should this be different? Better roster, same mistakes. Robin the common element.

    4/30 games

Davidson wins it for Knights with a HR. Keep it going, MattyD, we needs ya.
  7. Not all on Robin by any means, and especially these last two games where our top 2 made poopypants. But, the team needs a wakeup call. Is RV capable of delivering one? I do not think so. Sometimes change, for the sake of change, is what's needed.
  8. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) sucks Was it close?
  9. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150430 Drabek for Knights - getting roughed up J. Guerra for Barons - Hawkins back in lineup R. Leyer for Dash Peralta for Kanny - also getting roughed up
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) i want to say something that may come out bad. i totally agree with you, this short success doesn't mean he is over the hump, but i look at it as you need to learn how to walk before you can run. baby steps of, what i hope will be a huge turn around. That came out just fine. And we're on the same page - gotta start from somewhere.
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) yeah it was great seeing that EJ and Davidson having a huge day. It's nice, but we need to see a huge couple of months. Alternating between big games and sombreros won't work. Seems like we want to get excited over anything good he does - I get it, the big club needs more power/offense. Without a significant, sustained improvement in contact skills, he's sub-Mendoza in the bigs. But maybe it's a start.
  12. The Royals are a legitimate contender, to be sure, but I'm enjoying the continuing struggles of Yordano "Diapers" Ventura.
  13. Adams out already after 1.2 innings. 6 runs, but only 1 earned after 3 errors. Had to be a frustrating outing, but seems like a quick hook.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) His lack of power is astonishing Well, he HAS the power - saw it in ST. But, most likely, he's making some major compromises to get more contact. I'll stop before I start making broad brush statements on our hitting development.
  15. Barnum has vastly improved his K and BB rates this season. OTOH, he has sacrificed virtually all of his power in doing so. Only moderately encouraging, if that.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Lakso said Black's error should have been a double play. Not excusing Johnson for a bad inning, but it's a factor. Well, one of the runs has to be unearned, so the ERA they're now showing needs an adjustment. And as I write, adjustment made. Not a bad outing overall, still. Confidence may be an issue, and that could be problematic.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) Looks like he hit the wall. Hessman doubled, 2 more runs. Me and my stupid jinxes.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) We'll see what happens, but if EJ has his confidence back, I think they should strike while the iron is hot. Yes, EJ, the 2013 and possible current version, is a few levels in talent above Scott Carroll, who I view as more of an "emergency" type. Either way, EJ's comeback can give the staff depth we didn't think we had a few weeks ago.
  19. Thx for info 'field. Angelos is growing on me. He's made terrible FA decisions in the past, and his medical nixing of trades has given him a further PR obstacle, but he did make a terrific hire with Buck - changed the whole culture of losing they'd fallen into. And calling the O's a last place team right now is absurd. They're one under, like the Sox, in a division with nothing but highly flawed teams. The Red Sox, for one, are going to need about 20 capable relievers to make it through the season with that dumpster fire of a rotation.
  20. I hold out hope that Danks can be moved by pitching respectably over the next several starts, in combination with injury related needs that arise: Wainright, BMac, etc. And Erik Johnson's resurgence is making me more confident that this is something they should do as soon as such opportunity arises. He's having another strong day in Charlotte. Tiny sample sizes, yes, but the scouting reports seem to back up a return of his stuff. It was only 13 months ago that we all pretty much had the guy penciled in as a MOR. They're not going to save all of the ~$26M JD is owed from today, by any means, but things just might be coming together nicely.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) I'm a little nervous about what's going on with Montas. Hopefully it's nothing serious on/off the field. Kinda weird still no word.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) don't think they thought that slogan through... Ya hear that ladies?
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) At this point, I wouldn't be completely shocked if Barnum put it together and passed Trey. For some reason, he seems like he's going to end up close to Brent Morel statistically. Just a hunch. Hope I'm wrong. Trey was probably rushed a bit. Still a pup.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) Rongey just called out the Orioles on Facebook for this entire mess. Said they refused using the nationals park out of pettiness. He also said the Sox have no say in the matter, it was entirely the Orioles decision. The MLB could override the Orioles but chose not to. The fact that they didn't even talk to the Nats is something the commish should address - if he weren't a well-compensated puppet.
  25. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) This really just screws the White Sox so bad in May. Now the Sox have to fly to Baltimore on their off day after playing Toronto to play 2 games in one day and then fly to Houston after the double header The game in Toronto on May 27 should be made a day game to screw us slightly less. Know it won't happen.
