  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) I want Fulmer and Kevin Duchene. As an Illini, would love an Illini. Where's he projected? Tyler Jay climbing the boards. Damn, there's a lot of kids named Tyler these days.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) I think one thing that is being lost is there are plenty of good cops out there., even in Baltimore. There were guys that certainly didn't deserve having rocks and bricks thrown at them last night. Absolutely. But the relatively low bar of entry into the profession is going to allow more bad apples in the bunch.
  3. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) I live in Denver - while I won't opine on the quality of the police force here (no complaints from my end), or its reputation nationally, I do know that they only require a high school diploma or GED to get on the force. http://denvergov.org/Portals/590/documents...203%20Final.pdf And this is part of the grim reality of the situation. You simply aren't going to get the "best and brightest" risking their lives on a daily basis for $35K a year. Paying more means raising taxes locally - good luck with that.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) Jonathan Mayo ‏@JonathanMayoB3 1h1 hour ago Jonathan Mayo retweeted Mike Riley I think that's right about where he could go. 1 or 2 teams interested above, but 8-15 seems reasonable. #mlbdraft Jonathan Mayo added, Mike Riley @OneOfTheMikes @JonathanMayoB3 Will Kyle Tucker still be available at 8 for the @whitesox? I like this, even though he's a HSer.
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) The Orioles should have to forfeit. I'm starting to come around to this. If the owners are too pissy to even discuss the possibilities, they're in the wrong. This should be a "pull together " moment.
  6. Got a couple crazy-low ERA's going at WS and Kanny. Very intrigued by both LMartinez and Guerrero at Kanny, and hoping Dykstra sees AA soon. Anything on Frankie? Still nada on Barons site.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) This is gonna screw us later on in the season. We're gonna be playing double headers on our off-days. Also, this. Especially if they can't play two tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) If they can't find a way to play two games tomorrow, they dragged their feet too long. There have been games rained out the day before a scheduled off day, where you lose the off day. Not that much different if they changed venues. This
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) And we decided to get rid of him In fairness, his inability to play any position other than 1B was going to require the development of significantly more power. But yeah, it seems like the org undervalues the rare guy who actually shows a quality approach.
  10. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) That's one I got wrong. I wanted to sign him. Also guilty here. Fooled by his 40 doubles season in Boston.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) Nobody is going to take his contract plain and simple. Of course not, but if a team will take 60-70% of it, that could be worthwhile.
  12. The HR rate is a killer for Danks and Noesi.
  13. QUOTE (almagest @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) Danks looks fine, especially for where I expect him to be. The problem is the offense. This. Wished he looked this good every time.
  14. Melky delivering quality ABs lately. Keep it up.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Poor Danks threw 20 pitches. He isn't going to last very long today. If he throws 5 shutout innings I'll be ecstatic. Pen is rested.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) Announced: The day/night DH will be Friday, July 17. Opening the second half with a doubleheader. I like it. Hate the ASB, so starting 2nd half with two games sounds fun.
  17. QUOTE (SouthWallace @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) Chicago White Sox @whitesox See that #walkoff #SoxWin in gif mode: https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/5923998...7730816/photo/1 I'm not on the twitter, but someone please tell that JewellAllAmerican about pot-meeting-kettle.
  18. QUOTE (SouthWallace @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) Bloop single to score Melky from 2nd. Gameday called it a line drive.
  19. Avi needed that even more than us fans. Let that be the "turnaround".
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) well there's one LOVE it. Let's get the other one now. Royals dominance is OVAH!
  21. 10 K's in 4 innings for the Knights. That's not easy to do.
  22. The regulars to this thread who have a spot reserved for Jorge Soler in Cooperstown may want to take another look. I said last year that his crazy-fast rise through their system didn't allow any kind of "book" to be formed on the guy. Now that such a book is developing, he's K'ing at a 40% clip and the OPS is plummeting. He's a great talent, but still a long way from a surefire star. Now watch him go on a tear, thanks to me.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 08:52 AM) I say you can't force things. Paying out the wazzu for one hero, much less loading up with 35 year old "proven" veterans, won't make the difference. Some of the moves over the winter were premature. The foundation isn't complete. As for Lucroy, his offense is excellent...for a catcher. But you pay a ridiculous premium for that offense from a catcher. Much better to accept catcher as an offensive hole, and use the resources to improve other areas that can be improved more efficiently. Agreed that the foundation isn't complete, but the position player side of Buddy's Farm isn't going to complete it either. So far, to his credit, RH hasn't sacrificed anything too significant in this rebuild (Semien, 2nd and 3rd Rd picks this year debatable). Trading some quality MiLB pitching will be a necessity, imo. And I don't see old, expensive veterans as a big part of Hahn's wish list. I don't think anything was premature. They do need some offensive help, and they're not playing to their level of talent. The pitching can become a greater strength as the season progresses, both in the rotation and the pen.
