  1. Clayton Richard is awesome, right Coop? lol
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Ozzie obviously made a bad decision playing Konerko, but if you actually think Ozzie is an idiot, than your the idiot. The reason this team is not up by 5 or 6 games is the pitching, not Ozzie. You're an idiot if you think he ISN'T one. I can do that too, see? jesus christ.
  3. Clayton making sure we're gonna be 0.5 back tonight. Thanks dawg~
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) 5-35 in his career against Greinke now. Ozzie is an idiot, it's just that simple. He's managed this team about as bad as anyone could in a pennant race. I could name about 5 or 6 things he's done, as i'm sure anyone else on this board could as well, that were terrible decisions
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) Hopefully Clayton gets both good defense and good luck this time out. He has pitched a lot better than the stats say. I'd like to see him get his first win and then help us in the pen from here on out. If he does well today, management will really shorten the leash on Contreras's 3-inning beatings. he's shown to be a 2-time through the lineup pitcher, 3rd time he gets lit up, just like what happened to danks last year hopefully ozzie pulls him before that happens, let the kid leave with some confidence
  6. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) So Tribe up 5-1 7th inning, do we even deserve to be in first? do the twins? tigers?
  7. 5-1! I still stand by my statement about Slowey's control. Cleveland is just hitting the ball where it's pitched, whereas our hitters seemed absolutely clueless how to connect on his slider Go triiiiiiiiiiiiiibe (Drum Drum Drum Drum)
  8. I might've spoke too soon! 5-1 CLE after the top of the 5th. Tribe hitters have a nice approach to Slowey, they are hitting everything to right field, even the righties
  9. twins gonna win this one just laid down 3 straight bunts, 2 successful, 3rd was a sac. just sick. i can't wait to watch these guys get dominated on that road trip.
  10. watching the twins game slowey is GOOD. my god. his control is f***ing amazing, pin-point stuff. we have nobody on our staff as good as this guy right now.
  11. i'm not ready to throw in the white flag yet, or proclaim the twins better than the sox, but these next 19 games will be important and will probably decide our fate, it's easy to be pessimistic after a loss like today but you have to remember our team is not playing at 100% right now, with our starting rotation running 4/5 of what we had when the season started, Crede and Linebrink are also both on the disabled list and Konerko is playing like a Rookie A-ball player, probably due to lingering injury(injuries?) we play a lot of home games coming up, with a few road games in between. i'd like to see us go 13-6 over that span or 12-7 (or hell, 14-5 would be amazing). we've played awesome at home this year, one of the top 5 teams at home in all of baseball, and the twins are terrible on the road just like pretty much every other team
  12. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 11:43 AM) So the Lineup is .. OC Griff Quentin Dye Thome Konerko Ramirez Hall Uribe ????? I filled out the bottom 3, but that can obviously be different. god no, ozzie leave this sh** like it was yesterday, my god. konerko does NOT need to be playing right now when we're only 0.5 f***ing games up! unreal
  13. Tony Gwynn, Johan Santana, A-Rod, Soriano
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 01:33 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Agg3...o&type=lgns Griffey's increases out post-season chances. Without Griffey, we had a 54.9% chance to win the division and a 58.5% chance to make the playoffs. With Griffey, we have a 58.4% chance to win the division with a 63% shot at the playoffs. i'd love to see the calculations for those stats. lol
  15. If Griffey turns out to be incapable of playing a prolonged (2+ month) CF, you could see his playing time cut into Thome's in the DH spot, this could possibly limit Thome's PA's enough to block his option If that happens, I want Griffster as our DH next year And I know I'm totally basing this off my manlove for Griffey and not on any stats or anything, it's good to be a fan
  16. there still tension between jd & oc? that attempt to steal 3rd with 2 outs with JD at the dish was f***ing stupid
  17. christ I cannot tolerate listening to Lawrence Holmes, i had to turn the score off after listening to him praise the twins and cubbies *vomit*
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 08:17 AM) It's probably not the smartest thing to do in the middle of the season but JD seems like the perfect fit for 1B. He has the same long limb build as Derrick Lee. I can picture him being a vacuum at first. his first step is atrocious IMO, and that's just based off what i've seen in RF, imagine him at a position where reaction time is even more important
  19. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 06:51 AM) Hopefully we can get things going in the right direction against Kansas City. at least we don't face Meche in this series, and doesn't paulie absolutely destroy Greinke? I might be thinking of Gobble their RP
  20. our bullpen is terrible on the road, especially in the hump, they have no confidence after they hop on the plane
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 05:49 AM) You'd be right. Swisher is pretty awful with 2 strikes on him. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?playerId=5937 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?playerId=3747 perhaps what that tells us is Nick goes into a mindset where he is trying to do way too much rather than letting the game come to him, could be that he's trying to impress his new teammates, who knows.
  22. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) Out of all the years he's pitched, and the 83 career saves he has, you bring up the 23.0 IP he threw in KC? i refuse to put any more relavance in his closing stats with the astros and A's, than I would with them for the Royals, none of those teams contended i mention the royals as that was the last team he was a closer for
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) As bad as Swish has been, Konerko isn't even on his level, which says just ho bad Paulie has been. one area, and this is just from my own observations.... i don't have the stats to support it (they are probably out there though) konerko seems better with two strikes than swisher does
