HALF WAY REPORT CARDS!!!
IMO whenever a player moves from a team he's become familiar with, to a new team and a new park, there will definitely be an adjustment period in terms of both their hitting ability AND if they're a pitcher, their pitching ability I also feel that Cabrera is a perfect fit for this team, however I am unsure how he feels about signing a new deal with us. With that said, a healthy Richar+Lexi at 2B+SS would not upset me. It's just that OC finally looks like he fits in well with the other players, good chemistry with that said, I feel Swisher's worst days are behind him (sub .240 BA, low SLG/HR totals), I think he's getting used to hitting in the cell, as early on he wasn't letting that swing go and now he's just crushing the ball, taking hard swings at straight fastballs, i think he'll have a nice career in a sox uniform

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 01:18 AM) Tigers are scary. Twins are amazing. I think Detroit is the team to beat and will probably win the division. Hope I'm wrong. why, because they're on a hot streak? i understand hunches, but the things you would be basing your hunch on are a bit premature. the tigers have been hot over the past month, but that pitching staff will not carry them to the playoffs, at least ours has many believing it can given their peformance thus far all i'm saying is don't get carried away with a team on a hotstreak, at least wait until august to make predictions on how you think the teams will end up in divisional rankings

Live and Die by the HR
couple days ago i heard it was 46% of runs scored are from the longball, so we're scoring ~the same amount of runs (slightly, anyway) via singles/doubles (loltriples) as we are with homeruns

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) It's so funny that you say this. I mean, for years -- seriously, years -- I've watched that piece of garbage Aramis Ramirez make stacks of money because pitchers don't pitch him on the inner half. I seriously wonder what these advance scouts do at the park. he wasn't 0-for tonight because we pitched him inside, it was more because Mark kept Aramis honest by not pitching to the same part of the plate (outside) with the same velocity (fastball) like we did at wrigley. mark was going in/out/in/in/out/out while changing speeds on his pitches, and not allowing aramis to focus on one area of the plate, that's how you get any hitter out. mark was absolutely dominant tonight

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) If our hitters could actually shorten their swing on 2 strikes, and make contact it would be great. The amazing whitesox popup attack. the only hitters in our lineup that actually do that are OC, Dye (to an extent, sometimes he keeps the long swing), Toby, and CQ
-
Cubs @ Sox - Game 3, 7:05 PM, 06/29, ESPN
gonna see a lot of high strikes here to Alexei, that's my prediction, they exposed his swing yesterday with those high fastballs edit: first pitch swinging, i kinda wish Alexei took more pitches, he just seems overconfident that he can crush anything pitched to him, and that will catch up to him sooner rather than later

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) Come on Joe, got get one in and one over. Do your job here, shorten up the swing and knock it. crede always has only about 1 and a half hands on the bat, his bottom hand is hanging off the handle, he has one of the longest swings in our lineup, he needs to seriously consider shortening it up a bit if he wants his average to go up and with that said, crede couldn't handle the high heater, K
