Official 2008-2009 NFL Offseason Thread

Guys, how can this not be a surprise? I heard they were talking about adding a new rule next season that Tom Brady isn't allowed to be sacked period.. you cant touch him at all. There were also rumors about the Patriots getting 16 home games, take it for what its worth. GMAFB first the tuck rule, then the defensive back contact rule, and now this rule? Could the NFL love Tom Brady and the Patriots any more openly than they already do? -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) Bills open the season against the Pats on Monday Night Football. TO signing is bad, AS IF I thought it was funny that he didn't even show up to their first team workouts, sure its voluntary, but still. -
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) Just finished watching it, very enjoyable movie. "I'm gonna run a train on these chicken fingers" haha my favorite quote from it was "I just spent the afternoon in middle earth with gleep glop and the floopty do's, gimme a f***ing break"

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) Schefter says their more likely to sign Jason Taylor, which is probably just as bad in the short-term with how successful the Pats have been with veteran players who appear to be a bit over the hill. That report about Peppers has to be total bulls***.. when I first heard it and they were like "The Panthers would rather have the Patriots second round pick rather than their first because they don't want to have to pay a lot of money" I was disgusted. -
Knight you need to try a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich its amazing.. Also, the new BBQ Chicken pizza there is badass as well. Next time you order the three deal you can get 2 pizzas and a sandwich for the same price. They are both $5 each when you order in three +

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) This is brilliant. Soccer??? Honestly, I’d rather watch paint dry. Soccer seems to be more about keeping the ball away from the other team than actually trying to score. I like your views and would like to subscribe to your newsletter

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) wow, TRU you need to relax.... I think the great majority of people differ from your opinion on the signing. Fact of the matter is, the Eagles and Cowboys both got better TO's first year there. He also was perfectly fine in the locker room his first season there as well, and the Bills were smart about it and only gave TO a 1 year deal. So unless he gets an extension mid-season, there is no reason to think that this was anything but a good signing. Also, while still f/a needs to be signed and the draft, Id definitely give Bills better odds on making the playoffs over Miami next season. The Eagles were a good team before Owens got there The Cowboys were also good before Owens got there They both made the playoffs, they both won nothing.. therefor, what exactly did TO change on these teams that were already good anyways? Nothing. All he did was create a media circus within the organization. I find it ridiculous that ANYONE can say "it was nothing but a good signing" when this guy has been pretty much run out of every city hes played for. The fact that he had to sign with Buffalo for 6.5 million on a 1 year deal should pretty much tell you enough. No one wants to deal with this guy anymore, the only thing I will agree with is it was smart to only do a 1 year deal. How do the Bills get better odds than Miami to make the playoffs now? Miami hasn't lost a single person of significants from their division championship team.. They resigned all their major FA's, they upgraded their FS, they upgraded their OLine and they still have 4 of the top 100 picks in the draft. Whatever bro, im sure you thought the Jets were a lock last year as well. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 08:14 AM) I will also call your ass out and say that you #1 - would realize that TO would easily be the best receiver on the Dolphins #2 - would have said that this would have been a perfect high reward signing for the Dolphins if they had signed him, because I do not recall you making a negative comment towards either a free agent signing or draft pick, give 1 or 2, ever. Not that it applies particularily, but TO has made the playoffs - in large part because of his presence - the last two times he has made a team change. That has nothing to do with the Bills chances next year, but they jumped enormously with this signing. once again, LOL YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH #1 - Obviously, talent wise, there is no argument to say that he wouldnt be the best WR on the Dolphins right now. Dont know what you are attempting to call out there. #2 - I wouldn't have been for a TO signing in Miami and also it would have never mattered because Parcells would never let it happen. All he does is b**** and complain and cause problems for whatever team hes on. I wouldn't want him in Miami. And give me a f***ing break, you are the biggest f***ing homer on this board for your team. Like when you actually tried to defend trading up to take John McCargo, stfu wite. There is zero chance Buffalo makes the playoffs. They don't have a QB, so it really doesn't matter what WRs you have on the outside. Lee Evans production will now go down, and I give it 1/4 of the season before Owens is b****ing about Trent Edwards and how he wants the ball. The only "plus" you got from this is that its a 1 year deal so he could try to repair his image for a better gig next year but I doubt he makes the entire year without a problem. Sorry wite, but no one is worried about a 35 year old WR who has caused a distraction on every team hes been on. Good luck with that -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 08:18 AM) I guarantee Belichick is not happy about this. I think you're wrong. No one would ever choose Buffalo over New England. All he signed for was 6.5 million, if some other team wanted him they could have had him but the problem is no one wants this guy regardless of 1000/10 (Which has been done with the likes of Pro Bowl QBs throwing to him.) He has been kicked out of the last two cities hes been in, and now playing with a pretty bad team I don't see any way he doesn't cause some sort of issue there.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 01:11 AM) Reviews like THIS make Rotten Tomatoes lose a lot of credibility. And one more thing on movie reviews. Please, shut the f*** up about leaving the theater in the middle of the movie. It doesn't make you look cool, or like a badass. To the contrary, it makes you look like a douche, and a moron. Pay money for your tickets (and probably food/drinks), only to leave without seeing the entire body of work all while pissing off the people in the theater who are actually paying attention and give a s***? That's smart. I hope you walked out of the theater right in front of a speeding train. /rant yeah I agree with that as well.. why would you just leave a movie in the middle of it because you haven't liked what you've seen so far? Its pointless.

Major desperation move by the Bills. You bring in the biggest cry baby in the NFL who has ripped apart the locker rooms of three teams (49ers, Eagles and Cowboys), who has seen his production drop. He drops a lot of passes lately and he belittles his quarterbacks. He got under the skin and had fights with three Pro Bowl quarterbacks in Garcia, McNabb and Romo. Now he will be catching passes from a mediocre quarterback in Edwards. Yeah, that will mesh real well. This was a move that both sides had to make though. No team really showed interest in TO and wanted nothing to do with this team destroyer. From the Bills view, they needed something to get the attention of the nation and help a dying franchise. 35 year old head case just joined the Buffalo Bills. Funny that the Patriots, Jets and Dolphins are the ones celebrating.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 05:05 AM) In what circumstance can fans rush the court when they win a championship anyway? Almost all championships are won on neutral floors. Are you saying that only mid-majors that clinch a tourney spot should rush the floor? Never, that's when. Unless you're Illinois, then you can rush the court whenever you want. -

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 07:51 AM) Yes, they should take their entire student section to Indianapolis and then rush the court in the first game they win (if they win one at all). Genius idea. I mean seriously. It's Penn State basketball. When was the last time they were anything other than terrible? Are you really going to whine about them rushing the court after beating one of the better teams in the Big Ten when their season was over if they had lost? Now they have a real shot at making the NCAA Tournament for the first time in forever, rushing the court was definitely acceptable. Dont really give a s*** about what you think is acceptable or not Rush the court when you win a championship or upset a #1 team.. your excuse that "Well they have a better chance to make the tournament now" is hardly a reason to rush the floor. Im not whining about it, just saw no point in it bud -
Here in Houston there are commercials for this place called C&D Scrap Metal and they are awful. Their big thing is they pay you in $2 bills, like who the f*** wants two dollar bills? Anyways, its this guy and his two kids and they do the commercials.. they are pretty damn bad.

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) Or they rush the court because their chances of making the tournament are dramatically higher, assuming they hold their own in the Big Ten Tournament. Then rush it in the big 10 tourny I saw no point in it tonight, maybe everyone should rush the floor when they win with a last second shot regardless of who they were playing. Its stupid. -

Thank god Illinois didn't really need this game, but they are pathetic sometimes.
