I need to see Vargas do it again next year, he was practically worthless for 4 years and 300 games and then finally had a huge year. Doesn't mean it was lucky or that it can't be repeated, I just want to see it.

I always picture that infield pop fly that hit him in the head, hopefully he wins it. I think he's arguably our best overall player.

He was awesome, and today all I remember about him is being a POS and getting knocked out by Jose Ramirez after trying to act like a tough guy. Very sad.

While im sure Venable and Getz names will be in contention, Tampa Bay is probably more deserving of manager and executive of the year awards. They won 77 games last season, and this season win 98 in a much better division and are currently in the ALCS and almost certainly will make it to the World Series. Chad Tracy also did an excellent job taking over the Red Sox and getting into the playoffs after their 10-17 start.

I think its very unlikely that everything returns from this season.. they're going to sign some players, im sure there will be trades made. Something will be different. I hope they finally bite the bullet and release Benintendi. Its the final year, that's usually when they make that move. Id prefer them to do it before the season to improve the roster flexibility. There's no reason to carry him for a few months getting nothing from him just to cut ties in May/June. My guess is Bonemer is going to take an OFers spot when he eventually comes up, most likely Peters or Antonacci. Even if Roch takes a full year in the minors, someone is going to have to be moved as there aren't enough spots to go around and if you have a valuable excess chip it only makes sense to cash in on it. Someone has to be moved eventually to help improve the starting rotation.

The offense is definitely a concern if Colson is cooked and Mune has been figured out. We can't have two players in the lineup hitting .190 and striking out 220 times. Tristan Peters is a question mark to me, Teel hasn't been all that impressive but he was coming off injury so who knows. Does Braden Montgomery take another step? Antonacci loses value because he can't play left field, so were capped on how much he adds to the overall. You can pretty much only feel really good about Vargas and Meidroth. Were going to have essentially the same players back next season until we have the debuts of Cholowski and Bonemer.

You're certainly entitled to feel that way

There are 15 losing teams in baseball and the White Sox played every one of them, I called out 2 of them outside of their own division. Not exactly cherry picking.

This team went 33-19 against their own division and still couldn't win it largely in part because they went 44-57 against everyone that wasn't an AL Central team, the A's, or the Rockies. Nevermind the CBA issue looming, there are massive question marks on this roster and over the organization. Colson Montgomery hit .163 with a .557 OPS in the second half, Mune hit .185 but at least he had a .750 OPS. Tristan Peters came back to earth in the second half. Can you count on him to be a guy who is going to push 4WAR next year? I can't. I like Sam Antonacci, he's not an outfielder. They still are going to be rostering that bum Benintendi who can only play DH and doesn't have the bat for it. They have Vargas and Meidroth and that's about the only two players you can probably feel really good about. The pitching, that's a whole mess itself. I feel like the acquisition of Castillo was their idea of spending money on next years team, just half a year earlier. We know how that is looking currently. I don't expect them to make any truly meaningful signing money wise. There's just a ton of questions. It doesn't take away from what the 2026 team was able to accomplish, but in no way am I ready to assume this is now a contending team and were in for another great season in 2027.

Dude, they won 84 games and beat the only team in MLB history to make the post season without a winning record. If they can win Saturday and somehow make it to the World Series, then we can start talking about historic. I agree that its stupid to call for Getz to be fired after this season, but this thing isn't even close to turned around until they show they can repeat it next season which to me, is a major if at this point in time all things considered.

Seriously, had Mune not gotten injured the Sox would hold spots 1 and 2 for most K's in a season.

This team probably should have won about 75 games this year, there were zero playoff expectations. They massively over achieved and won their first playoff series in 21 years. Coming off 3 straight 100 loss seasons and getting the season we got this year, I don't understand how you can have the opinion that Chris Getz deserves to be fired. I don't like Getz, I think he sucks at his job. I can't wait until he is actually fired but even I can't say that I think he deserves to be right now. You can thank a lousy division and a down AL for that.

Yes, I would say for the Chicago White Sox having an overachieving season, making the playoffs, and advancing a minimum of 1 round shouldn't cost their GM their job, even if I think he's not a good GM. We aren't the Yankees man.

Chris Getz is not a good GM, this isn't even really debatable. That being said, there is zero chance he gets fired after the season we just had and it's an incredibly wild take to even suggest that he should be fired.
