  1. The division isn't good enough for that to happen. If they were in the AL East or West, then yeah I could see that.
  2. Now that Cease is gone, our starting pitching is just downright awful. I voted 62-70 but I feel like its probably a better bet to take the 56-61 range. Either way, I have already accepted this is going to be a long brutal season.
  3. Since everyone loves spring training takes here... Jake Burger - .139/.162/.412 1 BB 13 K's in 37 PA's Woof.
  4. I actually like that logo, but agree they should have gone with Spiders too
  5. Well for one, the manager of the team said as much. The owner of the team said essentially the same thing. It also appears as if they are going to prioritize keeping these veteran players on the roster for the time being. What makes you think any differently?
  6. I think they’ve already made it pretty clear they’re trying to win games over development at the MLB level. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.
  7. It was always a dumb trade because the Sox were in no position to trade a pitching prospect for a 26 year old OFer with a low ceiling. Makes no sense.
  8. Do people think Iriarte is just some arm that can't hit the zone? He had a better whip and avg against than Nastrini last year and most people seem to think very highly of him.
  9. Oh the rebuild working and creating sustained success over multiple years is pretty much the biggest kick in the nuts to me.
  10. People are just tired of the same old bullshit with this organization. Everyone wants the White Sox to be good and hope they are, hopefully sooner rather than later. Even Balta.
  11. Hey what part of "hope" didn't you understand buddy
  12. Man I forgot about Terrell Tatum, I hope that dude becomes something.
  13. If you are registered to post on this website (with the exception of some Baltimore assholes) you are a small fraction of the White Sox fan base. If you're here, I would consider you a die hard fan. That being said, we had to deal with years of a rebuild that had promises of parades and money being spent. No parades, no money being spent. Everyone here certainly has a right to be pissed off and negative about this franchise because we were lied to.
  14. Well, the A's won 50 games last season and had 29 saves, I don't know how many they blew so might be in the 30's as far as those opportunity. If you think the Sox are going to be a 60 win team, he should have chances late in games.
  15. That's the mindset why people are going to be disappointed with the trade. "This trade sucks, why didn't they just go get Spencer Jones??"
  16. This means nothing if they aren't going to sign a marquee free agent. I don't care about adding 5 middling players at $10-12 million a year. Been there, done that. Its not working.
  17. At the time of the trade, he was like a 45 FV guy and the third piece. That's filler.
  18. Ill disagree with that one, but I guess were a few weeks away from finding out.
  19. The Padres had to give up 3 legit prospects (One top 50-60 and the other two in the 100-150 range) and a good reliever for one guy. I would consider that pretty steep. There was no filler in this trade. There are no Basabe or Diaz in this one, there are no Matt Rose or Bryan Flete. All players sent to the White Sox are promising or useful now.
  20. People are sleeping on Steven Wilson. Its easy to see "29 year old reliever" in the trade and be like WTF? But this guy is actually pretty solid and by all accounts a great teammate as well. If he can have a great half year and be flipped for even more that's just a bonus.
  21. Yeah and so does Luis Robert sometimes. It’s not a death sentence.
  22. I voted A. From the Cease side of things, he’s a good SP but is he Cy Young contender consistently good? Maybe, he’ll need to prove that this year. There’s as much risk that he’s more 2023 Cease than 2022. I would expect him to have a good year for the Padres as I think 2023 was more of a the team was the problem situation more than Cease just not being as good as we saw in 22. From the White Sox side, you get 3 legit prospects and a potential flip candidate. The three legit prospects to me is a big deal. The reality is we were never getting those top 10-15 guys that were fantasized about around here. What we did get is a top 100 prospect plus two more guys who have been in and around the top 100 within the last year. Thorpe is a nice prospect, he has an outstanding changeup and great control. And he’s close to being ready. Iriarte is an electric arm with a high ceiling. Zavala is a toolsy OFer with a high ceiling. These guys aren’t lotto tickets they are legit prospects. This is a major boost to a system that’s lacking high ceiling talents and especially starting pitchers. For a team that’s not going to spend big in free agency this to me is an ideal trade to try and have this team headed in the right direction in the next few years. I much prefer this type of deal over one super prospect and then some fillers. This seems like the type of trade everyone is going to be happy about once they cool off from expecting way more than they should have and get to see some of these kids perform.
  23. Man way too many of you guys got got by the idea teams would trade a Wyatt Langford or Jackson Merrill in these deals. That’s not happening for anyone.
  24. Yes, but in 15 years or so
  25. When people in the industry use the term steep I kinda roll my eyes when “palehosefan321” posting on Soxtalk says the deal stinks.
