QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) I heard he's in the running for our leadoff spot Unfortunately, Paiml's big weakness is strikeouts.

Paiml!!
-
The Cardinals could use him.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Gartrell, Cook, Kroeger and Negron are the only ones who POTENTIALLY will get a whiff of the majors after 2009 with the White Sox. Negron has actually gotten quite a few appearances this ST, more than any of them but Kroeger. Restovich and Raines are just filler. Owens is just insurance in case KW can't find ANYONE else in the entire world, but I can't see them going to him unless he's hitting .350 with a .425+ OBP and 85% conversion rate on stolen base attempts (or an injury to Wise/Anderson). In all my stumping for David Cook, I forgot that Miguel Negron is a CF who hits leadoff. He was the Barons MVP in 2008. Plus, he's absolutely hilarious.

Yay!!! I sparked conversation.

Comes out on DVD in June.

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) The guy from the 5th element? That would be "Corbin Dallas."
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) We're a team who's 1 season away from needing a LH DH. Are you implying that McPherson would be a good replacement for Thome?
-
Caleb Gindl or Steffan Wilson would be a nice return for Sergio Miranda.

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) How is Derek Rodriguez pitching for us? I thought he was rule V drafted by Tampa. He was returned.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) They should have a Kenny Powers night. I know!
-
I s**t thee not, the Barons are having "Todd Jones Tribute Night" on May 2nd. He's from B'ham, so that's the connection, but that doesn't justify it.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) By the way, who the heck was the player from the box score yesterday that has never been seen b4? He pinch hit and got one AB. I think you speak of Salvador Sanchez.
-
Seems like he'd be a good fill-in for A-Rod with the Yankees.
-
This clutters up the Charlotte outfield. Now they have Cook, Restovich, Kroeger, Owens, Raines Jr., Negron & possibly Gartrell. I guess this means Negron and Gartrell return to B'ham for 2009 & Raines Jr. is possibly cut outright.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) The same way a guy clears waivers the year before, and is later penciled in as a leadoff hitter/CF for said team. This situation is dripping with irony.

...and has been outrighted to Charlotte. Owens to Charlotte
-
Maybe for Charlotte? He was released by the Marlins.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) People wont believe me but... I met T.O. a while back and he was super friendly. I walked up to him and he shook my hand and we talked for a minute about the 49ers ( i had a shirt on, and this was when he was on them). Just super nice, and didnt seem annoyed. I believe you. He's a Bama native like us, it's in there somewhere. I just think he's turned into a clown over time. McNabb was probably the one that caused all the problems in Philly.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) Unstoppable, is the word your looking for... That's how the Barons roll... -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) Hey man, I don't know. For all I know, he's got hundreds of tattoos all over his body, and if he does have "gang related" tattoos, who knows if they're on his arms? True, although my response was to the implication that the tribal stuff on his arms was somehow "gang related." It's entirely possible that he does have gang tattoos somewhere else.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Ray Durham was one of the most fan friendly guys I have ever met. Definitely, I met him when I was a kid when he played for the Barons.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Pierzynski has always been the one guy who has signed for fans before games. Last year in KC, he was the only one who did, talking with the fans also. Even Wassermann said "no" for f***s sake. Strange, Ehren was the exact opposite in B'ham.

QUOTE (FranktheTank35 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 06:05 PM) Off topic a bit, but what other athletes have you guys met that were nice? By far the nicest one I have ever met was Corey Bradford, a WR for the Green Bay Packers (and later the Texans I think). I went to the hotel where the Pack was staying in Chicago (I'm a diehard Cheesehead..) and we were standing in the lobby in the autograph section (my dad and I). We were maybe two out of five or so people there (I was the only kid) and he came over to me, signed my helmet, and then sat down at a table off to the side of the lobby with my dad and I and just talked to us for about an hour. It was awesome! He also let me wear his solid-gold, diamond studded "#85" necklace! It was definitely the best experience I've had with a professional athlete. I don't even know how the guy could afford the necklace though.. he wasn't a superstar. What about you guys? Micah Schnurstein gave me one of his $200 gloves, Gio Gonzalez is just about the nicest, friendliest guy ever & Fernando Hernandez is very down to earth.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) This is sincere...I hope Owens catches on elsewhere and has a good career. He seems like a great guy. If he was 10 years older, the Dodgers might've taken a look at him to boost their offense.
