  1. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) also on CSN Yay! I can watch it. DirecTV's sports package rocks balls. Channel 665.
  2. I met Chris Stewart 4 years ago when he was with B'ham. He's a hell of a nice guy and a workhorse behind the plate. I hope he gets the backup job.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) better than nothing for a b game There's no box score on MLB.com.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) I believe it came from a story about how many Georgia honey's he's had. Then maybe it should be "HPV Slayer." Remind me to either throw the pen away or just tell Gordo to keep it when I get his autograph.
  5. Well, if he is in B'ham and the first time he walks up to the plate, his walk up music is "Raining Blood" by the band Slayer or any other one of their songs, then I will call him "Slayer."
  6. Well, I know the perfect walk up music for him..."P*ssy Crook" by Mystikal.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) I hope that Gookie gets a slot in the minors somewhere, because I love that name. He was with Charlotte for a month in 2008, but they cut him loose. He put up good numbers for Omaha after that.
  8. ...do you guys mind if I call him "Slayer?" Would he get it or is that an inside joke?
  9. I know about the NRI players, I'm talking about non-NRI, non-40 man veteran players who aren't technically on any of the minor league rosters either.
  10. I know Keith Ginter, Erasmo Ramirez & Gookie Dawkins are in Minor League camp with the White Sox. Anybody know of any other veteran players in minor league camp?
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 10:08 AM) White Sox vs. Australia on March 6. Who do I root for? Me, March 6th is my birthday.
  12. So many to choose from... The very beginning of "Jambi" by Tool The very beginning or very end of "Scream" by Avenged Sevenfold "Walk" by Pantera cued to the "...walk on home, boy..." part. "Faithless" by Injected "Goodbye, Horses" by Q Lazzarus & Garvey "Clown On 'Em" by Official Drop Boyz (David Cook's choice for walk up music) "Last American Cowboy" by The Bled "Move Back" by Birmingham J "I Don't Like The Look Of It" by Da Back Wudz And, finally... "My D***" by Mickey Avalon
  13. Okay, so if you guys were baseball players, what would you want for your walk up music? Sub question: Is there any specific part of the song that you'd want played?
  14. Seattle resigned him.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) Impressive that they already have the kid pegged as the starting SS in Birmingham this year. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about him if this is the case. I just got my Baseball America Prospect Guide, it had Beckham pegged for half the season at A, then the other half in AA. Since Greg Paiml would be the only other possible starting SS at B'ham this year, it's seeming more likely that Gordo my spend all 140 games with the Barons. I'll be more than happy to give all of y'all first hand reports on him if he's in B'ham.
  16. Beckham article
  17. Because of all the women in B'ham he nailed, yes. Because of his baseball skills, no. I watched him play in person, he blew hard. He was rude to everybody and insulted B'ham after he left.
  18. By the way, Getz has a speaking voice that would put Barry White to shame. My theory is that they may actually be distantly related. Getzy's from Michigan, Morneau's Canadian, interesting...
  19. You be the judge...
  20. He shouldn't be a free agent for long, he'll be signed by someone to play a AAA. Just thought he'd be a low risk pickup for Charlotte, almost like trading Griffey for him.
  21. QUOTE (hogsmom @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) Due to unforseen crap like work, I won't be able to get out west for spring traing. Does anyone know of any games that will be televised? Thanks in advance. There are going to be 50 games aired on MLB Network, I'm sure some White Sox games will be on.
  22. ...just released by Seattle. He absolutely raked in AA in 2008. Michael Wilson 2008 Minor League stats
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) Rogers also stated that Getz is way in the driver's seat to be the starting 2nd baseman. I like how he stated that if Getz can leadoff, then Anderson would be the starter and hit 9th. I think that's the scenario we all would like to see the most. I can believe that. Maybe David Cook should play CF and hit 2nd. Then you got two guys on or Getz in scoring position for 3, 4, 5. Championship...
  24. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) I just ordered tix to 3/1 against the Dodgers. Can't wait to see the new facility and, as a bonus, the Dodgers glorious home whites. It'll be like the '59 Series all over for my Dad. This time its personal. It's just business, nothing personal.
  25. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) Jesse Rogers saying Poreda WILL BE in the bullpen in 2009. He was very emphatic about it, like he's heard something about it officially. Well, I'm glad I got his card autographed then.
