White Sox vs. Royals, 4/23/07 (W)
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) I don't hate Brian Anderson. I just think he's a great example of ego when it isn't called for, poor hitting and poor approach to hitting. It is obnoxious to see people gush about him. Just watching him at the plate makes it clear he has no clue what he's doing. It was clear last year, all year, and it's continued. But that's Ozzie's fault!!!!!111111111111111 I do like the cute attempt to insinuate that my mother has nuts. Your clever lulz!!111 You know that's a joke. Brian will never improve unless he gets playing time. He's still a better option than Erstad right now, because he can ground out three times a game just as easy. But since that won't happen, he needs to be in AAA getting at bats.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) Totally granted. I'd just say that Erstad's 6 years of pretty poor hitting should come into the discussion at some point as well. Anderson also did not have an OPS below .554 during any month last year.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) What a crock. Post September, April, May and June. LET'S GO WHITE SOX I'm just wondering, but do you hate Anderson because other people like him, or did he like kick your mother in the nuts or something?

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) Yeah, absolutely. Mizzou needs a better non-conference schedule and this is a nice step towards that. I'm not expecting a lot out of Mizzou this year (8-9 wins at most, the defense is a joke), but that should be a fun game. You have absolutely no room to talk to say 8-9 wins at Mizzou is not a lot.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) L-A-M-E I went up by you the past couple of nights to see Saliva and Mike Jones. That was OK, but VEISHEA doesn't compare to Unofficial. I was at both as well. Mike Jones blew. Hell, I probably saw you on Central Campus.

I pray that Kenny trades Erstad for a $1 bill
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) I know that last I heard he's still had issues but I don't know if that cleared up or not (I thought one of those issues was documented in an article in the paper a week or two ago) but Ozzie is playing hardball with him hoping that him not just handing things over will have an effect and get Brian's head on straight. But I also think that you got to take those comments for what they are worth as really the only people that are truly completely privy on the situation are those that are consistency in the clubhouse. You're as connected as anyone here, so I wondered if you'd heard anything. There was that thing about the guys watching TV, which sounds like it might be BA, but you never know. If the issues are on his end, I have an issue with him, but we don't know.

I agree. The Aardsma thing today was just the occasional blip. They've really got me encouraged.

I pray that Kenny trades Erstad for a $1 bill
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) I know the Sox like Terrero (both Ozzie and Kenny) but Its just my opinion that its going to be Terrero or Logan (long term and thats something they'll discuss when Pods gets back). But I expect Ozzie to try and get BA some playing time this week before the Sox make a final decision on whether Terrero comes up (and at that point I wouldn't expect to see BA until Erstad goes down or BA makes a couple adjustments and gets himself more ready to succeed at the major league level). If Terrero comes up than he'll be trying to show he'll be more useful than Ozzie (who really likes the idea of having an extra pitcher on his staff cause he feels it will keep everyone more fresh and when you have the depth in the OF the Sox have you can't blame him; however I think its a bad idea because he's going to have to start giving Erstad some extra days off if he wants to keep him healthy and I don't really want to get used to seeing Mack out in CF). I meant in regards to Brian's work ethic and attitude this year.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) I expect Terrero to be up soon and I think Terrero will be a much more valuable bench player too. But I could give a crap what Anderson thinks. I hope he realizes he needs to start busting his ass and proving to everyone that he's learned from his rookie mistakes (and I'm not talking about his play on the field...that part is obvious, but to make process in that he's going to have to improve in how he handles himself and how he prepares for the games and works on fixing his flaws). Have you been hearing something or is this general conjecture from last year or what?

If Ozzie refuses to play him, he has to be sent down. You have to agree he needs consistent atbats.

I'm really happy we got Gio back. He's got a chance to make an impact.

My god, it's almost like he doesn't have a goddamn hit trying to pull aside from that hr. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) I pray that some of you stop slurping Brian Anderson. I pray that our managerial staff stops slurping Darin Erstad as the Jesus of the Outfield.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) You don't need one. He has hit two balls to the OF, 6586893679035 to 2b, and the rest have been K's. i wanted a visual, but yea

Where can I find a spray chart for him? Of course, then the justification for Brian not getting time is his one at bat every 8 games.

I pray that Kenny trades Erstad for a $1 bill
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) He's had some very hard hit balls. Especially today. I've seen a metric f***ton of groundouts to the right side as he tries to pull balls on the outside half. His approach has been disgusting to me. If he possibly tried to stay back on the ball a little more, I don't think it'd be an issue. I didn't see today's game, but I do know that he had three hits. I remember he had one in the infield. Anything he gets any air under gets caught.

All of Erstad's hits have been placed, not hit hard in any way. They are just groundballs that find holes. You can't count on that.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) Dude, you might want to focus on a Big 12 Championship first. Baby steps, Heads, baby steps...... I'm talking about a change in our recruiting philosophy. He's trying to bang with the big boys for recruits, and even if we strike out, at least he's trying.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Your passion translates well and you are certainly the most informed Cyclone fan I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with--believe it or not, there was another! I know I'm giving you a hard time, but, there seems to be reason for optimism in the cases of both of our belov'ed collegiate football programs. And, although I can not speak to the Cyclones to the extent in which you do, I think both programs are about to turn the program...if only our head football coach had the football IQ that Chizik possesses (Illinois would be a perennial contender). It's clear that Chizik is changing the recruiting philosophy. We're mentioned with numerous four and five stars for next year, or at least guys that will be.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) I'm sorry, Heads. But, any time you post in a collegiate thread regarding ISU it reminds me of the obnoxious girl at the party that constantly interjects in the conversations of others hoping they elect to dignify her with a response. You know I'm not calling you an obnoxious girl, A. But, it cracks me up. Hell, I still feel uncomfortable talking college hoops with accredited Indiana, Duke, or Kansas posters (save one Soxtalker) because in some way I still feel like Illinois is an inferior program--and we went to a Final Four three years ago. Hey, we were totally ranked 9th in 2002. You're gonna have to deal with it. I live and die with the Clones more than any other team. I would trade any World Series for a Cyclone national championship in football or men's basketball.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Any particular reason or have you just started doting on men with authority? Pretty much. He's taking charge. Plus, he's got the nation's leading tackler in a scheme that suits him perfectly.

I'd love to see a hit out of Erstad that isn't a nicely placed groundball.
