White Sox close to acquiring Soriano
We're essentially moving starters #6 and #8 from our organization. Well, Brandon should be starter #4, but that's different. We better be getting some goddamn good talent in the near future.

Boone Logan
I know a lot of you don't want to see him again, but he recorded another save, striking out the side today. He's given up 3 hits and 2 walks in his last eleven innings, which means people are batting under .100 against him. He's an actual prospect at this point, racking up saves at Charlotte. It didn't work out for him the first time, but I would expect him back in September.

High school baseball in Iowa
Talking to someone who knows..... Iowa high school baseball players who are drafted can sign at any time, and when they do they forfeit eligibility. Also, the season will not be moved as long as "native Iowans" are in charge, according to my editor. If baseball was moved to the spring, it'd kill track, tennis, golf, and baseball all at once. If golf was in turn moved to fall, it'd still kill golf, because the best golfers normally play football.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Twins
I didn't think we'd predicted a sweep at all this year...so I went for it.

ACLU at it again.
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) There are alot of you, most just don't want to admit to it. You are a brave soul. Whatcha got? Remington 12 and 20 gauge that are the only guns I use regularly. I also have a .22 and a thirty-aught-six or however you type that out that I haven't gotten a chance to shoot yet. ---- Via LCR:

High school baseball in Iowa
Shut up. Yup, state baseball is starting now. Practice (for good teams) happens year round, but games start in early May and end in July, and it won't change anytime soon. There's 4 sports seasons here. Fall: Football/X-Country/Volleyball Winter: Basketball/Wrasslin Spring: Tennis/Golf/Track/Soccer Summer: Softball/baseball Also, if I can remember this straight, Sweeney had the option to finish out his HS career and sign after he was done with the season, but chose not to. The Sox probably didn't want to risk him getting hurt in the next two months after they signed him. And, again, I reiteate....it won't be changed anytime soon because of how other sports seasons set up.....I don't think the IAHSAA wants to screw with what they percieve to be a system that's humming along. The IAHSAA is a good ol' boys system that is a prideful bunch. That, and it's tradition.

Sox games and MLB TV
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) You should be able to get them. I'm almost positive. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) I don't think you'd be able to get them because you live in the Chicago area, which means the mlb.tv games would be blacked out. Oh spiff.....showdown.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Twins
By Alex E. The White Sox will be looking to take a strong pitching performance from Jon Garland and Matt Thornton and translate it into a strong series showing with the Minnesota Twins. The White Sox will miss Francisco Liriano in the rotation for this series, but will face off against Twins ace Johan Santana in the middle of the series. READ MORE...

Sox Acquire Alomar for Lamura, Widger DFA'd
Buehrle with Widger catching: 33 ER in 53 IP : 5.60 Buehrle with AJ catching: 34 ER in 80 IP: 3.82 At a time when we need the old Mark back, if we have a backup catcher that he always enjoyed throwing to, instead of Widger, it could be a boon to our southpaw.

Well, if it helps get Buehrle's head outta his rear, that's a great start.

Sox Acquire Alomar for Lamura, Widger DFA'd
I remember when it got to the point where ESPN reported the Erstad trade as being official, or at least not saying according to sources. Until I hear more, it's still a rumor.

Sox Acquire Alomar for Lamura, Widger DFA'd
QUOTE(rowand @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) great move, I love Sandy... he will do great here. you "fans" doubting this move... let me know another catcher who knows our team, city, and pitching staff, is a great stable leader in the clubhouse, and is batting .323 (albeit in limited ABs). otherwise shut up please. No one is saying that he won't do all of those things. People are concerned that he's going to turn 40 and has worse knees than my mother.

Sox Acquire Alomar for Lamura, Widger DFA'd
So the last 5 times I've heard about Widger on the Score....no mention of Alomar.

Channelling Geoff Blum...reincarnate into Alomar if he's indeed coming.

Has anyone heard Alomar for sure though? Or is the Score just mumbling out it's rear?
