Trade deadline be comin. July 25: Twins 5, White Sox 2. Dylan Cease had a rare bad start on a rainy day on the South Side. Cease (4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 3 K) was a victim of two long balls by Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano, and the Sox offense could only muster six hits and two walks. Eloy Jimenez and Nomar Mazara both had doubles - the only extra base hits for the Sox in this one. After the game, RoboHahn would send down Codi Heuer for Matt Foster. Tyler Johnson was also called up to replace Alex Colome on the active roster. Will the Sox move anyone else before the deadline? Maybe. 45-59 July 26: Twins 9, White Sox 1. Not even competitive in this one. RoboRenteria would use Matt Foster as an opener in this one, and after allowing a walk, a double and a walk, he was replaced by Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez wasn't much more effective (4 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 BB, K). Tyler Johnson, Kelvin Herrera and Bennett Sousa would all also allow one run apiece in relief. Zack Burdi was the only reliever not to allow a run, but he did manage to walk three in two-thirds of an inning. Yoan Moncada went deep (22) to account for the only Sox run in the game. If anyone is curious, Cody Bellinger is at 46 home runs - on pace for 70. RoboHahn would trade out Bennett Sousa for Codi Heuer after the game. 45-60 July 27: White Sox 8, Tigers 4. Eh, I still think the Sox are better than the Tigers, despite being in last place. Michael Kopech (4.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, BB, 7 K) was good enough, and Tyler Johnson, Matt Foster and Aaron Bummer would cover the final eleven outs of the game without allowing a run to secure the win. The Sox would get home runs from the regular big boppers - Jose Abreu (21), Eloy Jimenez (24), Nomar Mazara (9) and Seby Zavala (2). Jimenez and Mazara had the two multi hit games for the Sox batters. 46-60 July 28: Tigers 4, White Sox 2. Maybe the Sox still suck. Lucas Giolito threw a quality start (6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, BB, 11 K) but another lackluster game out of the Sox offense - six hits, no walks and and fifteen strikeouts - doomed any chance of a win. Derek Fisher's fifteenth home run of the year accounted for one run, and a Tim Anderson RBI single accounted for the other. Zack Burdi threw a perfect third of an inning. 46-61 July 29: Tigers 17, White Sox 4. Leury Garcia threw effective eighth and ninth innings in this one (1.2 IP, H, 0 R, BB, K). Yoan Moncada went deep (23). Dylan Cease was ineffective in relief (2/3 IP, H, R, BB, K). The Red Sox dealt Andrew Benintendi to the Yankees for Mike Ford and Dayro Perez. After the game, RoboHahn would send down Matt Foster for Bennett Sousa. 46-62 July 30: Indians 11, White Sox 10. With a 10-2 lead in the seventh, you could probably understand Sox fans thinking this one is over. Granted, they were correct. The Sox built their lead on the strength of thirteen hits, including home runs by Derek Fisher (16), Tim Anderson (10) and Nomar Mazara (10). Every Sox starter with the exception of Jose Abreu had a hit, and every one of those starters with the exception of Yasmani Grandal had an extra base hit. Gio Gonzalez lasted just one hitless inning, but outings in the backend of the pen from Tyler Johnson (0.1 IP, H, 3 ER, 2 BB) and Ian Hamilton (IP, 5 H, 6 R, 2 BB, K) doomed the Sox as the Indians walked it off in the ninth. 46-63 July 31: Indians 20, White Sox 6 Leury Garcia: 1.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, BB, K Adam Engel: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB 0 K Zack Collins: IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, K 46-64

Terrible. When I went to college and only had the option to listen on the radio, I couldn't understand his appeal. Then it got to the point when it was annoying when he wasn't on the air because I was so used to him. This sucks.

Rodon still has four more weeks on the IL, he suffered a setback earlier in the year. Burger has moved to first base for Winston-Salem. He's hitting .283/.370/.479 with 18 HR and 62 RBI in 95 games. Dunning has been abjectly terrible in Charlotte, going 3-11 with an ERA of 8.25.

July 16: OFF DAY July 17: Tigers 4, White Sox 3. I guess we're not going undefeated after the break. Detroit got out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Sox managed to tie it in the sixth on the strength of an Eloy Jimenez home run (22). Lucas Giolito had a decent enough start (5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 7 K), and he was off the hook after the Eloy blast, but the Sox bullpen once again let their loyal fans down as Alex Colome came in for a non-save situation and promptly gave up two hits and a walk to give the Tigers the win on a rainy evening. Jimenez and Yasmani Grandal both had multi-hit games for the Sox, who struck out only 15 times in this one. 44-54 July 18: Tigers 6, White Sox 5. Maybe we won't win after the break. Dallas Keuchel would only last into the fourth (3.1 IP, H, 2 R, 3 BB, 2 K) before being pulled with elbow pain. The Sox would get home runs from Yoan Moncada (20) and Zack Collins (8) in this one, but they would never hold the lead at any point. Collins got the start in this one at first base, and Danny Mendick would start at DH, so maybe RoboRenteria is going to get even more froggy with the lineup as we go along. The Sox would get 14 hits in this one, but nine men left on base and a lot of bad timing cost the Sox in the game. Moncada would have three hits in the contest, while Eloy Jimenez, Derek Fisher, Collins and Mendick each had two hits. The Sox have a strong grip on last place at this point. 44-55 July 19: White Sox 7, Tigers 2. Feels like the first time in a long time. The Sox got a much needed and surprising strong start from Gio Gonzalez (5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K) and Jose Abreu would go 3-4 with a home run (20) and four RBI to pace the Sox offense. Brian Dozier would give the Sox an early lead on a solo home run (8) and they would never look back. Danny Mendick would also have three hits to push his average back up over .300 (.304) for the year. The Sox would actually go up 7-0 in this one before Codi Heuer gave up two runs in the eighth. After the game, RoboHahn would send down Heuer and Adam Engel, recall Tyler Johnson, and activate Luis Robert from the IL. 45-55 July 20: White Sox 8, Cubs 4. Dylan Cease (5 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K) was out pitched by Jon Lester, but a seven run outburst against the Cubs bullpen in the top of the 9th gave the Sox one of their most thrilling wins of the year. The Sox strung together six of their eight hits in the inning, including a double from Eloy Jimenez and a triple from Yoan Moncada. Craig Kimbrel and Jeremy Jeffress were, obviously, awful in relief and would only retire a combined one batter. RoboHahn would celebrate the big win with a number of moves, sending down Tyler Johnson and DFA'ing Cheslor Cuthbert, and recalling Codi Heuer and Adam Engel. Fun times on the South Side. 46-55 July 21: White Sox 3, Cubs 2. Holy crap. A sweep. Sure, it was a two game series, but it still counts. The Sox did all of their damage in the second, as Seby Zavala hit his first home run of the year - a three run shot against Tyler Chatwood. This would prove to be the margin until the 9th, when Ian Happ would hit a two run home run against Alex Colome. Colome was subsequently pulled, and Aaron Bummer would retire the next three batters without incident to secure the win. Michael Kopech had his best start of the year (7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K). He did go 0-4 from the plate, however. 43-58 July 22: OFF DAY- Cody Bellinger is now up to 46 home runs on the season, and baseball is now paying full attention as he is on pace for 72 home runs. He is on pace for a 15 WAR season, which sources tell me is "good". July 23: White Sox 4, Twins 0. This is becoming more enjoyable. Lucas Giolito was dominant (7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K) and Ian Hamilton would pitch two perfect innings in relief as the Sox coasted in this one. Eloy Jimenez opened the scoring with a solo shot (23) in the first, and it would prove to be enough. Tim Anderson would also go 2-4 in this one with an RBI, and Jose Abreu would push the final margin to 4-0 with a two run single in the ninth. Cheslor Cuthbert would receive his assignment to Charlotte after the game. 44-58 July 24: White Sox 5, Twins 4. The Sox would get another win against the division-leading Twins as the White Sox bullpen would cover the final four innings of this one without allowing a hit. Dallas Keuchel would have another mediocre performance (5 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 4 K) before being pulled with shoulder issues - may it be time for an IL stint? The Sox offense was paced by Yoan Moncada (2-2, HR (21), 3 R, 2 BB, RBI), while Jose Abreu and Derek Fisher also had two hit games. Eloy Jimenez would also contribute with a two run single. After the game, it was announced that Alex Colome was traded to the Cubs for minor league pitchers Brad Depperman and Ramon Fernandez. Neither pitcher wold seem to figure prominently in the Sox' future plans. 45-58

Light update this time with the ASG coming up: July 9: OFF DAY July 10: Diamondbacks 5, White Sox 3. The Sox lost by two in this one, but the greater concern was when a shaky Lucas Giolito (2.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, BB, 4 K) was pulled in the third inning with back stiffness. While he is thought to be just day-to-day, its still enough to raise some flags. Both Codi Heuer and Tyler Johnson would allow a couple more runs in relief, pushing the game out of reach. Yasmani Grandal (11) and Eloy Jimenez (20) were responsible for all three Sox runs with home runs, but it wasn't enough against Zac Gallen. Jose Abreu was the only other Sox player with a hit in this one. After the game, RoboHahn would send out Heuer for Bennett Sousa. 40-54 July 11: Diamondbacks 9, White Sox 1. Can we tear it all down yet? I guess there isn't that much to tear down anymore. Nomar Mazara knocked in Tim Anderson (who walked) win an RBI double. Leury Garcia also doubled. That was the extent of the Sox offense. Dylan Cease was chased in the fifth (4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 6 K). Bennett Sousa (1.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, K) and Zack Burdi (0.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 K) made sure the Sox could not even become remotely competitive in this one. The Sox would strike out 14 times in this one. After the game, it was announce that Cease and Yasmani Grandal would be the Sox two representatives in the All-Star Game. Andrew Vaughn (.309/.442/.510, 204 AB, 8 HR, 176 wRC+, 1.6 WAR in Birmingham) is the Sox Futures Game rep. The Sox celebrated by sending down Tyler Johnson for Codi Heuer. 40-55 July 12: Diamondbacks 8, White Sox 3. The Sox celebrated the beginning of the All-Star break with home runs by Yoan Moncada (19), Jose Abreu (19) and Eloy Jimenez (21). These accounted for all three Sox runs. They would strike out eleven times in this one and only manage four more hits. Michael Kopech had a quality start (6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 7 K) in one of his better efforts of the year, but Aaron Bummer, Kelvin Herrera and Ian Hamilton would allow five more runs over the next 2.1 IP to push a 3-3 game to the final margin. In the Futures Game, Andrew Vaughn started at first and hit sixth, going 2-4 with two singles, one run and one RBI to go with two strikeouts. July 13: OFF DAY July 14: Joey Gallo wins the HR Derby July 15: NL 7, AL 6. Yasmani Grandal was named MVP in a losing effort. He was not a starter, but his pinch hit solo home run in the 6th cut the AL deficit to 5-4. He would hit another solo home run in the 8th to cut the NL lead to 7-5. Dylan Cease would pick up the last two outs of the eighth for the AL pitching staff, walking one and striking out two. The Sox would celebrate Grandal's MVP performance by activating Seby Zavala from the IL and optioning Yolbert Sanchez to AAA.

July 1: Blue Jays 14, White Sox 3. Feels like we are whistling through the graveyard at this point by now, huh? The Sox took an early 1-0 lead after a Nomar Mazara solo shot (7) in the first, but that was approximately one third of the offense in this one. Eloy Jimenez (17) and Brian Dozier (5) also hit solo shots, but unfortunately, the Sox still fell twelve solo home runs short of a victory in this one. Dallas Keuchel dropped to 7-4 (2.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 BB, K) and left in the third after not being able to find the strike zone. Luis Robert was hit by a pitch in the foot and will miss three weeks after a fracture was found. Gio Gonzalez came in in relief in the 8th and would go on to allow four runs to pump his season ERA up to 7.96. Before the game, it was announced that RoboHahn had traded Evan Marshall and minor leaguer Davis Martin to the Nationals for minor league pitcher Tanner Driskill and minor league CF Dominique Collie. Neither is regarded as much of a prospect. After the game, the Sox would send down Zack Burdi, recall Cheslor Cuthbert and Bennett Sousa, place Luis Robert on the DL and call up Tyler Johnson. 36-51 July 2: White Sox 10, Blue Jays 6. Sure, the Sox were up 7-0 in this one, but lets take these Ws where we can get them. Michael Kopech was downright mediocre while picking up his third win (6 IP, 5 H, 5 R, BB, 5 K, 3 HR) and Tyler Johnson was spotty in his major league debut (1.2 IP, H, R, 2 BB, 2 K) but a well balanced attach by the Sox offense was enough in this one. A pair of three run shots by Derek Fisher (14) and Jose Abreu (18) would pace the Sox in this one. Yolbert Sanchez has been decent in the leadoff spot (.294), and the Sox 2-6 hitters would go 8-22 with all 10 RBI in this one. Hey, at least the Sox only have the second worst record in the AL, and they visit the team with the worst record in Texas (30-58) next. 37-51 July 3: White Sox 6, Rangers 1. Lucas Giolito is pretty decent. He picked up his second win of the year (6.1 IP, 3 H, R, 0 BB, 11 K) and gave the Sox plenty of room tow work with as the Sox bats carried over the warmth from the previous game against the Blue Jays. A Yoan Moncada three-run home run (16) and a Brian Dozier two-run home run (6) were more than enough for the Sox in this one. Yolbert Sanchez went 2-5, pushing his average to .318. Elvis Andrus had three of the Rangers four hits in this one. After the game, RoboHahn would send down Codi Heuer for Zack Burdi. Can the Sox make it three in a row for America tomorrow? 38-51 July 4. White Sox 10, Rangers 7. Yes. They could make it three in a row for America. The Sox battered Corey Kluber and chased him in the third to give him his tenth loss. The Sox went with a bullpen day, and while it didn't go all that well (Tyler Johnson picked up the win with 1.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 K), seventeen hits for the Sox helped in this one. Home runs from Yasmani Grandal (10) and Brian Dozier (7) provided some of the offense, but the Sox got multi-hit efforts from Derek Fisher, Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu and Danny Mendick, as well as Grandal and Dozier. Adam Engel and Nomar Mazara were the other starters, and they went a combined 0-10 with 5 K. After the game, Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo announced he would be retiring after the season. 39-51 July 5: White Sox 10, Rangers 0. Another big win for America in this one. Dylan Cease was masterful (5.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 9 K) and Ian Hamilton, Aaron Bummer, Bennett Sousa and Tyler Johnson would allow just four hits the rest of the way. Yoan Moncada (18) and Eloy Jimenez (19) would both go deep twice in this one, and Tim Anderson would add a home run of his own. The Sox 2-3-4 hitters (Mazara, Jimenez, Moncada) went a combined 10-14 with 4 2B, 4 HR and 8 RBI. Adam Engel contributed a HBP and SB. After the game, RoboHahn celebrated the sweep with more bullpen roulette, sending down Bennett Sousa and Tyler Johnson for Codi Heuer and Jace Fry. 40-51 July 6: OFF DAY. The Sox would sign international amateur RF Jordan Ruiz from the Dominican Republic for $4.44 million. July 7: Cubs 6, White Sox 4. Dallas Keuchel continued regression to the mean (5.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 6 K) and Kelvin Herrera continued being what he is as he picked up his fifth loss (1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K; 7.33 ERA on the season) after giving up a two run home run to Jason Kipnis in what proved to be the final blow. The Sox would scatter just five hits in this one, and both Eloy Jimenez and Zack Burdi would leave the game due to injury. Jimenez appeared to hurt his thumb, while little is known of the Burdi injury at this time. 40-52 July 8: Cubs 7, White Sox 2. Can we get the Rangers back? The Sox fell behind 7-0 in this one, with the only runs being pushed across on a two run home run by Nomar Mazara (8) in the bottom of the ninth. Eloy Jimenez would return to the lineup (0-4) and the Sox would string together just seven hits. Gio Gonzalez was straight up not good enough (5.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, BB, 5 K) to win this one, as he picked up his fourth loss and his ERA ballooned to 7.96. After the game, RoboHahn would send down Jace Fry and call up Tyler Johnson. I can think of some other pitchers that need to go away too. 40-53

The Sox sit at 36-44, 9 games back of Cleveland in fourth place in the AL Central. Are we going to start making a push? Or will we maybe sell some parts off? Lets see. June 24: Tigers 8, White Sox 4 (14). The Sox held a 4-3 lead in the ninth before Jeimer Candelario hit a solo shot against Alex Colome. This wasted a spotty but effective start by Dylan Cease (5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K). The Sox had been paced by three solo home runs in the regulation portion of the game, with shots by Yoan Moncada (14), Jose Abreu (17) and Nomar Mazara (4), but 17 strikeouts and three errors helped make sure the Sox gave away another one. Bennett Sousa picked up the loss in this one (2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 5 BB, 2 K) with terrible control as he let across four runs in the top of the fourteenth. The Sox sit just a half game out of last. Moreover, the Sox would find out that Reynaldo Lopez has torn his labrum and will miss the next year. The hits keep coming. RoboHahn would adjust by placing Lopez on the 60 day DL, sending down Bennett Sousa, calling up Codi Heuer and purchasing the contract of Matt Tomshaw. 36-45 June 25: Tigers 10, White Sox 7. Last place is cold and dark. Dallas Keuchel was hit around (4 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, WP) as he would quickly relinquish the 7-1 lead the Sox had built after two against Casey Mize. Nomar Mazara, hitting in the two-spot, would hit two run home runs in the first and second (6) as the Sox would build that early lead, but Keuchel and Codi Heuer (2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, BB, 4 K) would push this one out of reach for the Sox. The Sox would get two hit efforts out of Luis Robert, Mazara, Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson. RoboHahn would trade out Heuer for Bennett Sousa after the game. 36-46 June 26: Athletics 21, White Sox 8. These get less and less interesting to do when you lose every game, but, hey, four Sox position players would pitch in this one. Michael Kopech got the start (0.2 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 3 BB, 4 K) but I know you want to know how the Sox position players pitched. Adam Engel (1 IP, 0 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 0 K) Seby Zavala (0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, K) - pulled due to injury (sprained ankle) Zack Collins (0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 0 K) Danny Mendick (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K) Yoan Moncada would hit his fifteenth home run in this one. Moncada, Jose Abreu, and Yasmani Grandal each had two hits . After the game, Zavala was put on the DL, and Bennett Sousa and Matt Tomshaw were sent to AAA. Gio Gonzalez was returned from his rehab assignment, Codi Heuer was recalled, and the contract of Yolbert Sanchez, who was hitting .261 at Charlotte, was purchased. 36-47 June 27: Athletics 8, White Sox 3. Michael Kopech would start for a second consecutive day for some reason (0.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 BB, K) and he would give way to seven different relievers. Kelvin Herrera would drop to 3-4 (0.2 IP, H, R, 2 K, 7.50 ERA) as the White Sox would push across just three runs on 9 hits. Two of the runs would come courtesy of Eloy Jimenez's fifteenth home run of the year. Yolbert Sanchez would go 1-4 in his major league debut, hitting leadoff. Will he be the answer to the Sox problems? Probably not. But the Sox only struck out four times in this one, which is an improvement. Across baseball, Aaron Nola is out for the year with a torn UCL. RoboHahn also made his normal moves, as Lucas Giolito returns from rehab and Kyle Kubat goes back to Charlotte. 36-48 June 28: Athletics 8, White Sox 5. Starting to wonder if we'll ever win again. The Sox led 5-3 after 7. Lucas Giolito was strong and shaky at the same time in his return from injury (7.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 10 K on 119 pitches) but Aaron Bummer would pick up the loss (0.2 IP, H, 2 R, 2 BB, K) in this one. Brian Dozier would hit his fourth home run for the Sox, and Yolbert Sanchez was again decent in the leadoff spot (2-4, 2 RBI). Nomar Mazara would also have a three hit game. He's 7-24 in his last five games. The Sox have now lost 7 in a row. 36-49 June 29: OFF DAY June 30: Blue Jays 6, White Sox 1. Make that eight losses in a row. Eloy Jimenez's solo shot (16) was the only real offense for the Sox as they would only muster four hits in this one. Dylan Cease was strong in this one put would only last 83 pitches (5 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 9 K), allowing two solo shots in the process. Evan Marshall and Zack Burdi would both allow two runs in relief in this one. Leury Garcia would be ejected in the eighth after arguing a strike call. 36-50 Batting leaders: Tim Anderson .284, Edwin Encarcion (still - he's 0-12 with the Padres) 18 HR, Jose Abreu 17 HR, Yoan Moncada 44 RBI Pitching leaders: Dylan Cease (7 wins, 2.61 ERA, 127 K)

June 16: White Sox 10, Tigers 2. Isn't it nice when you can get an easy win? Home runs by Tim Anderson (8) and Danny Mendick (8) helped pace the Sox as they ripped 16 hits to back surprise starter Kodi Medeiros (3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K). Sadly, both him and reliever Codi Heuer were pulled due to injury. Heuer looked to be pulled with a blister, but there is more concern about Medeiros after 46 pitches. The Sox got two hit games out of Anderson, Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu, Brian Dozier, Derek Fisher and Mendick. Every Sox player with the exception of Luis Robert would get a hit in this one. After the game, the Sox would send down Zack Burdi, Seby Zavala and Jace Fry for Ian Hamilton, Adam Engel and Bennett Sousa. 34-39 June 17: Tigers 9, White Sox 7. This team just can't get out of its own way. Trailing 5-3 after 8, the Sox would score four runs in the top of the 9th off of home runs by Yoan Moncada (13) and Nomar Mazara (3), but Aaron Bummer could not record an out in the 9th (0 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 0 K) and would ultimately give up a walkoff grandslam to Tigers centerfielder Victor Reyes. The Sox got a decent enough start from Reynaldo Lopez (6.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 7 K; 5.17 ERA on the season) but it wasn't enough for the Sox to overcome themselves. The Sox have fallen to 6.5 games back in the Central. RoboHahn would make a few moves after the game, DFAing Cheslor Cuthbert, and sending down Bennett Sousa and Ian Hamilton, and replacing them with Jace Fry, Seby Zavala and Zack Burdi. We are also still waiting to hear back about Medeiros. 34-40 June 18: White Sox 2, Tigers 0. Hey. A "win". Dylan Cease was awesome (5.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K) and the bullpen would allow just one hit the rest of the way (Fry, Burdi and Colome) to lock up a nice win. The Sox would open the game with a Yoan Moncada double, and he would come around to score on an Eloy Jimenez double. This margin would stand til the 9th, when Brian Dozier would hit a solo home run for a measure of insurance. After the game it was announced that Kodi Medeiros would be placed on the 60 day DL with shoulder discomfort, and he was expected to miss 5-6 months. He would be replaced on the roster by Kyle Kubat. RoboHahn would also send down Jace Fry for Bennett Sousa. Around baseball, Cody Bellinger has already hit his 30th home run. He is on pace for 66. 35-40 June 19: Indians 8, White Sox 4. Dallas Keuchel would not make it out of the fourth (3.2 IP,7 H, 5 R, BB, K) and Codi Heuer and Bennett Sousa would allow another three runs. Both Zack Collins (7) who started at first base and Leury Garcia (3) would go deep in this one. Danny Mendick's 2 for 4 day pushed his average back up to .300 on the year. The Sox also got two hit games out of Collins and Seby Zavala. Oh, Bellinger went deep again (31) too. In RoboHahn news, Cuthbert was assigned to AAA Charlotte, and Bennett Sousa was sent down, to be replaced by Ian Hamilton. Also, Lucas Giolito and Gio Gonzalez are both headed towards return from injury with possible rehab assignments ahead of them. 35-41 June 20: Indians 4, White Sox 2. Ho-hum. Ten strikeouts and zero walks helped make sure that the Sox could not score more than two runs on seven hits in this one against Carlos Carrasco. Michael Kopech picked up his sixth loss (4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K), and rumors of issues in the clubhouse have started to mount and make people wonder if he will be one of the first ones out when Gonzalez and Giolito return from injury. Every Sox starter but Jose Abreu and Derek Fisher would have a hit in this one, but no one had more than one hit. Maybe Mendick should have played in this one. In All-Star voting, Yasmani Grandal is second at catcher and appears to be the Sox only real chance at a starter. Across baseball, old friend Nate Jones will mis four months with bone chips in his elbow. Some things never change. After the game, Gio Gonzalez was sent to AAA Charlotte to begin injury rehab. The Sox also signed first round pick Patrick Bailey, agreeing to a signing bonus of $4.4 million. 35-42 June 21: White Sox 7, Indians 3. A win, but not without the usual issues. The Sox built a 7 run lead on the strength of 11 hits and six walks, but on a bullpen day, Ian Hamilton added to his ERA (now at 7.58) by allowing two runs in 1.2 IP. Codi Heuer got the surprise start (2 IP, H, 0 R) and Zack Burdi would pick up his first win of the year. The Sox also stole four bases in this one, and got multi hit games out of Yoan Moncada, Brian Dozier, Tim Anderson and Luis Robert. RoboHahn got busy after the game, sending down Codi Heuer for Jace Fry and sending Lucas Giolito on a rehab assignment. 36-42 June 22: Tigers 6, White Sox 4. The Sox spotted the Tigers a six run lead in this one, and despite a home run from Derek Fisher (13) and a three hit game from Eloy Jimenez, it simply wasn't enough. Reynaldo Lopez dropped to 0-9 (4 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 5 K) and also may have a rotation set in jeopardy once the two Gio's return. Danny Mendick had a rare 0-4 in this one after getting the start at DH. The averages from the lineup are less than inspiring. Moncada at .244. Robert at .241. Jimenez at .257. Abreu at .224. Fisher at .228. RoboHahn would obviously address the offensive issues by sending down Jace Fry and Zack Burdi for Codi Heuer and Bennett Sousa. 36-43 June 23: Tigers 5, White Sox 1. The Sox have fallen into fourth place and only are one and a half games out of the cellar. Strangely, shuffling the bullpen has not resulted in increased offense. The Sox mustered just four hits, and despite drawing six walks, could only push across one run as Yoan Moncada plated Danny Mendick with an RBI double. Kyle Kubat got the start (3.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, K) and would only last 61 pitches before giving way to the bullpen. The bullpen would not allow another run the rest of the way, but the Sox could not overcome themselves yet again. RoboHahn would respond by sending down Codi Heuer for Zack Burdi. The Tigers announced after the game that they would be trading Ivan Nova to the Cardinals for two minor leaguers. 36-44

My layman's take is - why would the players and owners not agree to that part of the deal? Owners save money, and what is the downside if you're a player?

So, a couple years ago I started using Vanguard to fund a ROTH as well as, eventually, just a normal brokerage account. When my mom passed away last year, I inherited half her retirement thru Ameriprise. (A ROTH and traditional IRA as well as a brokerage). I talked to them today, as this year I was supposed to start taking RMDs (which is now apparently delayed til 2021 due to the stimulus). I know the benefits of using a company like Vanguard and using low cost index funds, etc. However, during my call today they pitched consolidating my stuff into Ameriprise. Do any of you feel there are real benefits to having stuff your stuff managed as opposed to using a company like Vanguard?

June 9: Indians 3, White Sox 2. RoboRenteria made a few changes, sliding Luis Robert into the leadoff spot and dropping Yoan Moncada into the cleanup spot. And it looked like it worked until the Sox bullpen did what it does. Two solo shots by Moncada (12) gave the Sox a 2-1 lead, but the Sox pen couldn't add to a solid start by Michael Kopech (5 IP, 3 H, ER, 3 BB, 4 K) as Zack Burdi would give up a solo shot to Carlos Santana in the seventh, and Alex Colome would give up a solo shot to Domingo Santana in the ninth to give the Indians the edge. The Sox would mage just four more hits (and 13 strikeouts.) 32-35 June 10: Indians 11, White Sox 2. The good vibes came to a halt today for Dallas Keuchel (3.1 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 2 BB, K) as he was rocked for his second loss. He would depart in the fourth inning and Ian Hamilton would let across three more runs to push the deficit to 9-0. Eloy Jimenez added a solo shot (12). Luis Robert would go 2-4 from the leadoff spot. RoboHahn would respond by sending Bennett Sousa and Ian Hamilton to AAA for Kodi Medeiros and Jace Fry. Deck chairs on the Titanic it seems, even though the Sox are still somehow just 5 games out. 32-36 June 11: Indians 7, White Sox 4 (12). Some teams make their own luck, while some others suck. Home runs in the 12th by Franmil Reyes and Jose Ramirez broke open a deadlocked game and pushed the Indians to a sweep of the Sox. Reynaldo Lopez was decent (5 IP, 6 H, R, BB, 5 K) but the bullpen would still allow six runs (Bummer 3, Herrera 2, Heuer 1). Home runs by Eloy Jimenez (13) and Nomar Mazara (2) paced the Sox, who suddenly had Mazara batting cleanup. The duo of dongs would account for all of the runs driven in by the Sox. 32-37 June 12: White Sox 6, Astros 3. The Sox continued their odd tradition of showing up against the Astros with a win via the bullpen of all things. Dylan Cease was done after three innings (3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K, 81 pitches) but Heuer, Fry, Bummer, Burdi, Marshall and Colome would allow just three hits over the final six innings. Jose Abreu (16) and Danny Mendick (7) went deep for the Sox, and endick leads the team with a .291 average. The Sox still struck out 16 times but the 4-1 lead they built after the third inning was enough. RoboHahn would switch out Codi Heuer and Jace Fry for Ian Hamilton and Bennett Sousa after the game. 33-37 June 13: Astros 12, White Sox 3. That makes more sense. RoboRenteria got into some bad acid before the game, starting Bennett Sousa (IP, 2 H, R)in what seemed like a bullpen day. The parade of bullpen pitchers kept on coming as the Sox kept it close until the eight inning. Entering the bottom of the eighth down 5-3, a clearly overworked Alex Colome was left in four a second inning of work. He would finish the eighth having thrown 66 pitches (1.2 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 4 BB, K), without retiring a batter. Dallas Keuchel would then come in and strike out the side to finish the Astros 8th. Derek Fisher hit a home run (12) and Yoan Moncada went 3-5 with a double as the Sox picked up ten hits but struck out 15 times. Yasmani Grandal leads All Star vote getters at catcher. Somehow the Sox batters have only struck out fourth most in the AL. 33-38 June 14: Astros 8, White Sox 3. Michael Kopech allowed four runs on four hits and four walks, as well as four strikeouts as he picked up his.....fifth loss of the year. He had to throw 115 pitches to help out an overworked Sox bullpen and he's really lucky that it didn't go worse than it did. The Sox would pull to within 4-3 before Ian Hamilton allowed three runs on four hits in one-third of an inning to make sure it was out of reach. Brian Dozier hit his second dong with the Sox, and Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert had two hit games. 33-39 June 15: OFF DAY - RoboHahn would exchange Sousa and Hamilton to the minors for Codi Heuer and Jace Fry.

June 1: Off Day. RoboHahn used this opportunity to send down Ian Hamilton and Matt Foster for Jace Fry and Zack Burdi. Across town, the Cubs made actual moves, trading C Victor Caratini and minor leaguer Brailyn Marquez to Tampa for Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow is 1-5 with a 6.18 ERA. Sure. The Cubs are 34-27, and apparently they think Glasnow is what is missing. Oh, and Jose Quintana tore his UCL. June 2: Royals 8, White Sox 7. Once upon a time, the Sox were up 5-0 in this one. And 7-5. And while Dylan Cease had another good start (5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 5 K; 2.88 ERA for the year) bur RoboHahn's latest bullpen "fixes" Zack Burdi (2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 0 K) and Ian Hamilton (2/3 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, HBP, 0 BB, K) would give up 5 runs in relief, teaming up with Kelvin Herrera (1.2 IP, H, R, K, HR; 7.76 ERA) to make sure the Sox didn't win this one. Abreu (13) and Mendick (5) went deep in this one. Abreu and Robert (.243) also had three hit games. And remember that David Freitas trade I made fun of earlier this year? He went deep. At least Heuer has been activated from the IL and sent on rehab, I guess. Can we please win tomorrow? 28-33 June 3: White Sox 5, Royals 1. Maybe I just need to ask in the future. Home runs by Abreu (14) and Jimenez (9) helped pace the Sox as Michael Kopech easily had one of his best starts as a Sox pitcher (7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K). The only Royal run would come after a Salvador Perez (!) triple. He would be knocked in by an Alex Gordon single. The Sox lineup is still middling however, due to subpar batting averages out of the likes of Moncada (.225), Encarnacion (.257), Jimenez (.252), Abreu (.233), Grandal (.240), Fisher (.250) and Robert (.244, which, granted, is way better than it used to be). I guess some small solace would be some regression to the mean out of some of these guys, especially Moncada, would bump the record up a bit. 29-33 June 4: White Sox 8, Royals 5. Two in a row? Why not. I think the 7th inning grand slam (10) out of Eloy Jimenez helped in this one, as well as the two run shot (6) out of Danny Mendick, but it was another strong start out of Dallas Keuchel (7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 7 K; 7-1, 3.16 ERA) that got the Sox off to a strong start in this one. A three run outburst out of the Royals against Bennett Sousa in the eighth made the game as tight as it was. Luis Robert has also ascended to second in the lineup, and he responded with a two hit performance. Abreu, Anderson and Mendick also had two hits. So did Cheslor Cuthbert, but, sadly, he came in after Yoan Moncada was injured throwing a baseball. Moncada is day to day with some wrist soreness. Lets try for another win tomorrow? Please? 30-33 ROBOHAHN BREAKING NEWS RoboHahn has had a big few days. On June 4, the first year player amateur draft occurred, with the White Sox selecting NC State catcher Patrick Bailey with the 11th pick. Bailey is hitting .266 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI for the Wolfpack. For some reason, RoboHahn spent 14 of 35 picks on catchers, and 10 more picks on second baseman. It appears there was a strategy this year, I guess. RoboHahn has also been taking notice of some criticism that he might be asleep at the wheel, sending down Alex McRae, Bennett Sousa and Adam Engel for Kodi Medeiros, Seby Zavala and Jace Fry. He also sent Ross Detweiler from Charlotte to Winston-Salem for some reason. BUT THAT WASN'T ALL. He would send Edwin Encarnacion and $700,000 to the San Diego Padres for Brian Dozier. Dozier is making league minimum for the Padres and was hitting .194 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI in 33 games. Maybe RoboHahn was told to cut salary? June 5: Tigers 6, White Sox 5. The shakeup didn't shake up much. The Sox would jump out to a 3-1 lead after 4 on the strength of an Abreu solo shot (15) and a 2 RBI double from Danny Mendick,but the bullpen would provide the letdown after a decent start from Reynaldo Lopez (5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, 3 BB, 6 K). Jace Fry would face three batters - and no retire one, and Kelvin Hererra would let all three score, plus another run the next inning (7.80 ERA on the year) to saddle the Sox with another loss. Nomar Mazara would get the start at DH in this one, and Seby Zavala would go 1-3 in his 2020 debut. 30-34 June 6: White Sox 7, Tigers 6 (10). Gracias, Eloy. A tenth inning blast would prove to be the difference after another blown lead by the Sox bullpen. It was a bullpen day anyways, for the Sox, with Ian Hamilton getting the start (1/3 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, 0 K, 2 HR) and after Hamilton and Jace Fry allowed five runs in the first two innings, the rest of the pen was nails until Alex Colome blew the save in the ninth. Thankfully, Eloy would prove the difference. He was aided along by dongs from Derek Fisher (11), and two from Zach Collins (6), who got the start at DH. Brian Dozier also ingratiated himself to his new squad with two doubles. It was an iffy win, but a win nonetheless for a team that needed one. After the game, Fry would get sent to AAA for Bennett Sousa. In other news, Christian Yelich is out for six weeks with a fractured finger. 31-34 June 7: White Sox 7, Tigers 1. This is better. Home runs from Tim Anderson 2 (7) and Brian Dozier (1) were more than enough for the Sox as they faced former Sox starter Ivan Nova. Anderson would go 3-4 with 4 RBI, and Yoan Moncada and Luis Robert would also have two hit games. Dylan Cease was masterful in this one (5.2 IP, 3 H, R, BB, 9 K) and Bennet Sousa and Aaron Bummer would allow one baserunner the rest of the way. Luis Robert was caught stealing twice, however. After the game, Kodi Medeiros would be sent down to make room for Codi Heuer. 32-34 June 8: OFF DAY

There would likely be a condensed "spring training" so you could at least see more pitchers allowed on a roster as they build up strength, for one.

I'm starting to feel like best case might be sporting events in front of no fans, starting this fall.

If we have a 2020 season, I'd be shocked if rosters aren't as big as 30.

May 25: Orioles 7, White Sox 3. Losing is bad enough. Losing to the Orioles is worse. Reynaldo Lopez with another mediocre start (5.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 5 K) and three runs given up in relief by Aaron Bummer (.2 IP, H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, K) was more than enough for the Orioles to overcome another anemic effort by the White Sox offense. The Pale Hose had just six hits with two from Jose Abreu. At least Luis Robert has pulled his average up to .190. After the game, RoboHahn demoted Steve Cishek from AAA (2.35 ERA) to AA for some reason, and switched out Bennett Sousa and Kyle Kubat for Alex McRae and Ian Hamilton. But maybe the bullpen isn't the big issue in this one? The bats in Charlotte aren't much more inspiring, and Nick Madrigal is back from injury but has been suspended for fighting. 25-29 May 26: Orioles 6, White Sox 5. Alex McRae made a start (5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K). Eloy had three hits. Jose hit a home run (11). Maybe the ten strikeouts and the nine men left on base hurt the Sox in this one. Could have been the four home runs allowed by Sox pitching. But, hey, at least Connor Sadzeck pitched a scoreless inning. He was rewarded with a DFA (to be replaced by Bennett Sousa) by RoboHahn. And Nick Madrigal was sent to AA. So this is what shuffling deck chairs looks like. 25-30 May 27: White Sox 12, Orioles 7. They did it! I mean, they blew a 7-0 lead after five, but they still won. The bottom five in the Sox lineup (Mazara, Fisher, Anderson, Robert and Mendick) went a combined 13-24 with 11 RBI and eight runs, as well as homers by Fisher (9), Robert (4) and Yoan Moncada (9). Robert is now hitting .206 and finished a double short of the cycle, and Nomar Mazara is hitting .261 in limited action. Maybe should play more? Dylan Cease had a quality start (6.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 10 K) and while Ian Hamilton, Jace Fry and Bennett Sousa gave up five runs late in the game, Alex Colome ended the game without many fireworks. Around baseball, it was announced that Justin Verlander would miss the next 11 months with elbow issues. Oh, and the Orioles are 34-22. 26-31 May 28: Orioles 6, White Sox 2. Tough to keep up with the O's these days. Eloy had three of the Sox ten hits in this one, but the cluster luck was nowhere to be found. Michael Kopech had another bad start (4.2 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, BB, 6 K), while Adley Rutschman made his 2020 debut with the Orioles and hit his first MLB home run. Hopefully, some day the Sox can hope to contend with the Orioles. In the Central, the Twins found out that Kenta Maeda would miss the rest of the season with elbow ligament issues. Might not matter for the Sox. 26-32 May 29: White Sox 10, Twins 4. The bats woke up! 17 hits! Dongs by Moncada (10), Collins (4), Mendick (4) and a double dong by Encarnacion (18), as well as three hit games from Moncada, Luis Robert and Collins paced the Sox in this one. Luis Robert is up to .221 and is starting to like like the guy that was advertised. Tim Anderson was the only Sox starter without a hit. Dallas Keuchel pushed his record to 6-1 with a good-enough start (5.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 7 K). After the game, RoboHahn flips Jace Fry to AAA for Matt Foster. This is literally all he ever does anymore. 27-32 May 30: Twins 13, White Sox 5. The Twins paid back the beating they got yesterday by sending Reynaldo Lopez to 0-8 (3.1 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, BB, K). Giolito and Gio need to come back soon. Matt Foster came back and immediately gave up three runs, as did Kelvin Herrera (who now has an ERA of 7.90). The lone bright spot was Luis Robert (2-4, 3B, 3 R, RBI, SB) as he is now one of the most dependable performers in the lineup. And, hey, the Sox were three-for-three stealing bases. After the game, the Sox got more bad news as it was revealed that Carlos Rodon would miss three more months with his shoulder injury. Giolito and Gio are still three weeks out as well. Should RoboHahn try a little harder and maybe try something new with the pitching staff? Let's see if he makes any moves before the end of the month. 27-33 May 31: White Sox 9, Twins 7. At least a few positive vibes at the end of the month. Home runs by Derek Fisher (10), Jose Abreu (12) and Leury Garcia (2) against Homer Bailey helped pace the Sox, and Alex McRae limited the damage, I guess (6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 7 K). Fisher would lead the Sox with three hits, while Danny Mendick and Yasmani Grandal each had a couple singles in this game. After the game, RoboHahn sent Ian Hamilton to AA and recalled Jace Fry from Charlotte.
