QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) Yeah, as much as UIC is still there too.... Barnes still utilizes Iowa State's practice facility, works out with members of the team, plays with members of the team, has consulted with McDermott after visits, is the son of an ISU player, has a mom that works for Iowa State and has expressed extreme interest in the possibility of playing with Craig Brackins next year. He attended a number of ISU games last year and grew up an ISU fan. To say he won't come to ISU is fine, but he didn't put ISU in his final six as just a formality.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) Insane recruitment of Barnes, now sources are saying that Duke is out, and it's between UNC and Kansas, with UNC in the clear lead. I'll believe it when it's finally over next Friday. Pft, Iowa State is still there...

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) How exactly is Gilstrap the pre-season Big 12 newcomer of the year? We're talking about a conference that's adding Avery Bradley, Wally Judge and Xavier Henry. That seems quite dumb to me... Not sure, but he was the coaches pick. I'm not sure if it can't be a freshman or what, but he won it.

IF it's not Duke, ISU has a legit shot again, but who knows. Announcement will be on ESPNU.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 12:38 AM) You finished 10th in the big 12 last year, and ISU only lost to Kansas St. who finished 4th in the big 12 by 4 pts in the last minute @ Kansas St. last year(Iowa St. lost by 15 @KSU). Therefore I'd say your statement is based on nothing. Well, this year we have in Craig Brackins an HM Preseason All-America and one of only two unanimous preseason All-Big 12 first team picks. Marquis Gilstrap is Big 12 preseason Newcomer of the year, and despite the fact that they're picked for 8th in the conference, they SHOULD be an NCAA team. I've watched Iowa State teams for a long time, and they've got the potential to be more dangerous than the '05 team that went 4-3 against teams in the Top 20. That and ISU's Hilton Coliseum is easily a tougher place to go into than Normal. Maybe Jimbo will even back me up on this, crazy ISU-KU voodoo notwithstanding.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) "Come to Black Hills State and be on our basketball team! And any other team you wanna be on!" ISU beat the everloving crap out of a decent NAIA team tonight, 96-47. Marquis Gilstrap is as good as advertised. You can already tell this is a much different team than in years past.

Iowa State should have its starting RB (who is leading the Big 12 in yards per game) back against Texas A&M. That goes a loooooong way towards trying to get bowl eligible... Arnaud may be back too, despite having fractured his hand two weeks ago.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) I like the way you think. The nice thing is, looking at the schedule, there is a good shot that every team Iowa played (with the exception of UNI and Arksans State) could be bowl eligible and finish with at least a .500 record. s***, ISU-OK St is under consideration for the ABC primetime game next Saturday. It's between them, OK-Nebraska and Kansas-Kansas State. When Oklahoma beats K-State, and if ISU beats Texas A&M and Oklahoma State beats Texas, it'd be a matchup of the two division leaders..... A man can dream. Seriously though, check this out. Who wins the north? 1. Kansas State 3-1 - @ OU, vs. KU, vs. Miz, @ Neb 2. Iowa State 2-2 - @ aTm, vs. OK St, vs. Colorado, @ Miz 3. Nebraska 1-2 - @ Bay, vs. OU, @ KU, vs. KSU, @ Colorado 4. Kansas 1-2 - @ TTU, vs. KSU, vs. Neb, @ Tex, vs. Miz 5. Colorado 1-2 - vs. Miz, vs. aTm, @ ISU, @ OkSt, vs. Neb 6. Mizzou 0-3 - @ CU, vs. Bay, @ KSU, vs. ISU, vs. KU Mizzou might very well win the North, despite being winless and in last right now.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) It is crazy that Iowa ranks 1st in the country in the combined computer tabulations in the BCS polls. It is why I think if they win-out, they'll jump Texas because they would have to go up in the human polls if they win out (especially considering one of those wins, would be a road win @ Ohio State). I still think Iowa loses at least one more game, but a man can dream can't he, haha I couldn't fathom winning road games @ Wiscy, PSU, MSU, and OSU in one season. Here's what you do then, Jason. Root for Iowa State to win the North and then take down Texas in the Big 12 title game. Not only does it get the Horns out of your way, but your computer rankings will...um....get even better?

Heading out the door to Lincoln. Chances are we'll have our backup QB going, who, if anyone cares, is our fastest QB since Seneca Wallace. Not as good of a passer, but he's a better runner. Hopefully he gives the Huskers fits.

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) The Harrison Barnes courtship is really getting to a fever pitch. Duke and Coach K. had the last scheduled in home visit, but then the Barnes family requested that Roy Williams come back that night for a second in home after Coach K. left after his afternoon visit. Speculation is running wild. It does seem that Duke and Carolina are the last two standing for Mr. Barnes at the moment and ole Roy has made up so much ground UNC may be looking good right now. Or, you know, the intown school is still an option. Chasson Randle visiting Iowa State this weekend, any of you guys have any comment on him?

Signed up for my Iowa State - Duke ticket at the United Center for January 6. Starting to get excited. You'd think a team possessing one of only two unanimous All Big 12 picks as well as the Big 12 preseason newcomer of the year would be decent.
