  1. Wilson to the Angels - Rangers get desperate for pitching and do something stupid for Danks? Damned Gio / Beane - taking away our leverage.
  2. Yup - a developing market indeed. When you're selling parts - you don't want to rush into it - extracting value is key. We haven't seen Kenny in a rebuild role and I'm personally going to give him enough rope here to prove himself. What we've seen over the past 4 years out of him don't make me optimistic. Edit: Now we're seeing reports that KW is holding the current starters and shedding payroll elsewhere. Could that signify mailing out Q and calling it a day? It's the winter alright - conflicting reports abound. I sure hope that we dive in and actually rebuild.... hoping Kenny is just throwing miss-information out there to drive up prices. When Wilson signs - someone is bound to get desperate... right? Oh, that's right - our good old friend Gio Gonzalez is rearing his head again.
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Where are all the people on this board who said there will be a market for guys like Thornton, Quentin, Danks, and Floyd this offseason? There is one. It's called a developing market.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) lol yeah ok i forgot we live in a magical world of black and white where there can only be ONE reason and ONE reason alone for making any given decision. Thanks for the reminder. You made a funny.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) I assume it has to do with complimenting Buehrle. I'm guessing no other news. Sounds right to me.
  6. Hey guys - this thread is for Sox rumors and discussion - not a Tulo vs. Hanley war.
  7. KW reportedly talking to media in 15 minutes - soruce, Cowley.
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind. I can't argue that. If you are indeed doing what I think - referring to Buehrle in the female form - then that is a classless shame. I will say this about the Marlins signing - I'm very happy that JR didn't step in and play favorites. Hopefully it's a sign that we are indeed going to be seeing a true rebuild. Trade em all.
  9. I wouldn't doubt it if we discussed something like this with the Reds: Chisox send: Q, Danks, Thornton Reds send: Grandal, Alonso, Baily, +2 pitching prospects
  10. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Either way, most of Kenny's acquisitions over the past few years have been terrible and I tend to believe this is another one of those bad moves. I believe Santos will thrive in Toronto and hopefully Molina won't languish in the minors or be relegated to mop up duty and can actually become a viable middle of the rotation starter. I wonder if KW will have enough time to see how Molina develops. If Santos turns into a stud closer and Molina busts - it could be his downfall. Then again - who knows if he's got enough time on the clock to be around that long.
  11. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Gio Gonzalez is haunting KW at these meetings. Compromising Danks' value for sure. Yeppers.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Got that backwards. Kris-Cross gonna make ya jump - jump!
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) I don't support drunks on this site. Go away. Hypocritical?
  14. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Stop. Are you reciting song lyrics or directing communication to a board member?
  15. Lilinator on the move with aRow as a 4th outfielder with a chance to win a FT gig with Rios going to the pine? Spring training invite? Doesn't make sense to me if we're rebuilding - unless it's on a 1 year deal which they think Rowand can infuse some drive into the youngsters.
  16. I wouldn't be entirely surprised seeing Konerko dealt with us acquiring alonso yonder and yasmani grandal from the reds in a separate deal.
  17. Surprised that only 1 spec is coming back as a return. Seems like a classic KW gamble to me.... Go big or go home. Reality seems to be that this kid either turns out to be DLS part 2 or a potential top of the line starter. There's no in-between or modesty in KW synapses.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) ESPN winter meeting special it is sad to see for Sox all it says is shed payroll through trades, that gets people excited for 2012! KW will be fleeced again! I'm just itchin for this all to go down. Can't wait - will be glued to screen for months. Is it March yet?
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) I meant it makes no sense to give daily playing time to those 2 old guys in a rebuilding situation. No sense at all. If we are stuck with them, don't rebuild for a while. Retool. There's a chance Dunn might close his eyes and swing hard enough to hit 30 home runs and drive in 110. And Rios might be interested enough if the team has a good April to hustle into a .280 batting average with 22 homers and 94 ribbies. Playing those 2 guys with all young prospects around them and a horrifically young, bad pitching staff makes no sense. Or you could say this.... It makes sense to give daily playing time to many young guys while Rios and Dunn ride out their contracts. You hope that they turn it around at some point and if they do - you trade them. If not, oh well - by the time that the injected youth matures - we'll be primed to pickup a good DH and CF in the free agent market. Hell, by that time - we could draft for those slots now and have a replacement there.
  20. QUOTE (supernuke @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) I hear J4L like to cuddle after he's done. Nuke? The Nuke??
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) So, we've acquired two guys to evaluate talent from teams with good minor leagues so far? I like. From all we've done thus far this off-season... a rebuild era seems to be upon us.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) How come nobody in favor of a complete rebuild will address the fact its a non-sequitir to "rebuild" when 2/9 of your order are named Dunn and Rios?? The fact we have them dictates we put rebuilding on hold a while. It is absurd to play those 2 when we are totally rebuilding. Their salary together is what - 30 million? A rebuild with them on the books is not out of line or absurd in my mind. You forgot Peavy too - maybe because it's the last year of his contract?
  23. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) If St. Louis is in it, it's over. Word is that they're looking into a trade to open up a spot in their rotation... wait... was that stated in this thread already?
  24. Marks gonna get mucho phat offers. I think it'd be cool if he wound up in St. Louis. Miami would be cool - here would be cool. Niiiiiice.
