NY Rumors about Vazquez
all i know is that we will have a good team come 2005. KW is not done, something will happen until then all us here at soxtalk will speculate, breath new life into rumors, post every rumor from every source possible, bash kenny williams, bash rinesdorf, piss eachother off, make eachother laugh... and bit our nails with gut renching antisapation. something like that GO PODS! KICK ASS IN 2005!!! hit over .300, steal over 50 bases... GO VISIANO!!!! pitch at least 70 innings, give us an era of under 2.50!!!! go KW, use that 6 million very wisely!!!

fifth starter
shoey is a little punk... yes. shoey is a whining b-i-t-c-h... yes. shoey was 7 - 1 and looked great at the start of 2004.... yes he would have probably been about as good if he could have stayed healthy.... yes if he is healthy now, and comes at the right price.... i say yes... bring him in and el duque and let them both start if needed... they both are good pitchers if healthy, but both have health troubles... so if they both arent having to carry full loads... i dont see why they both wouldnt be able to make at least 15 starts.

Anything new on Perez??

Open tryouts for the Sox
if scotty schoe could pitch like he did for the first 8 games of 2004 for the entire 2005 season, id say hell yeah, put him at #5... i just dont the he has a starters endurance.

Rosenthal: 4th team in RJ Trade Now
i would be fine with paulie to the dodgers for javy v. because paulie is due 8.5... javy v. makes the same if im not mistaken... that means we would still have the 6 from the lee trade to spend on some offence.... penski (the SF catcher guy)??? ciaro to help willie vs LHP??? etc.... i like this move a lot and i think it opens up a lot of options for us knowing we would have the rotation settled from 2005 - 2007 cool

Remaining FA Starting Pitchers
how much u think we could get him for?

Remaining FA Starting Pitchers
whatda u guys think about el duque?

*Official* Clement to Boston
clement is a better pitcher then his record or carrer era indacate.... this market is pricing all pitching very high so we have to sign a #3/#4 guy for a lot... thats just how it is... the reason im jumping all over this guy is simple have a pitcher we a ton of tallent, a lock on numbers 1 - 5 in our rotation... or have 1 - 4 locked up... with an assclown fest fighting for number 5 hummmm i wonder
-
*Official* Clement to Boston
he's trying harris, i promise look, here he is now... its KW everyone: well, minus the whitness of him, believe me, its KW
-
*Official* Clement to Boston
i just heard on KROQ that they are going to play the mars volta and then announce that clement signed with the chicago white sox if you cant tell already, this is a bulls*** post... even thou it isnt in green, you should have been able to use your best judgment and tell, that yes... i am full of s***.

Our offense in 05
the completely optimistic progection: Cf=Podsednik (.300/130runs/70SB) Lf=Rowand (.315/110rbi/100runs) 1b=Konerko (.300/100+rbi/100runs) Rf=Dye (.300/100+rbi/90runs) Dh=Everett (.290/90rbi/80runs) SS=Uribe (.300/90rbi/80runs) 3b=Crede (.280/85rbi/75runs) 2b=Harris (.275/60rbi/85runs) C=Ben Davis (.265/50rbi/50runs) the pemestic progection: Cf=Podsednik (.240/90runs/40SB) Lf=Rowand (.280/90rbi/90runs) 1b=Konerko (.270/90rbi/80runs) Rf=Dye (.260/80+rbi/80runs) Dh=Everett (.260/75rbi/80runs) SS=Uribe (.250/60rbi/70runs) 3b=Crede (.230/60rbi/70runs) 2b=Harris (.250/50rbi/65runs) C=Ben Davis (.230/40rbi/40runs) the realist progection: Cf=Podsednik (.290/110runs/55SB) Lf=Rowand (.315/110rbi/100runs) 1b=Konerko (.290/100+rbi/95runs) Rf=Dye (.280/85+rbi/85runs) Dh=Everett (.275/80+rbi/80runs) SS=Uribe (.285/85rbi/80runs) 3b=Crede (.280/85rbi/75runs) 2b=Harris (.260/55rbi/75runs) C=Ben Davis (.250/50rbi/50runs) i think we will see something like the third, with potential to go either way listed above.... id be happy with the "realist projection" but hey, if he get something like the optimistic projection... look out.... if we get the bum projection.... we're in for a long year i think we'll be fine... the white sox will be a better team then last year and will suprise a lot of people.

WSCR reports on Clement
i dont understand how you cant take his SB total into regard thats ubsurd! say he gets 50 SB's... thats like having 50 doubles instead of 50 singles stolen bases or even having a threat like that on base is such a huge positive im intrested to see next year how many times a pitcher will give up a gopher ball because hes focusing more on Pods then he is on the hitter agree to disagree and we'll see how our acquisitions pain out for now, ill go try to learn how to spell =D
-
WSCR reports on Clement
aside from pedro.,... who were the other ace starting pitchers out there? i dont think its a fear of signing the big guys for big bucks thats driving up the middle guys asking price... i think its the lack of true high quality pitchers... theres more #3/#4 guys then #1/#2 guys
-
WSCR reports on Clement
i think that sPods is by far not below average... i mean the guy stole 70 bases last season.... in the interview i saw with him today.... he said that he changed his approch at the plate last season, was trying to do more then he should have... and in 05 he will be going back to the approch he used in 03... i can easily see him hitting .280+/110 runs scored/45+ SB... he isnt going to win a gold glove.. but he will be more then adaquit as a fielder... hes not below average... sorry, just the way i see it thou and ive been wrong once or twice =D

WSCR reports on Clement
"A player’s actual value, of course, comes from his performance on the field. In a perfect market, the best players would get the most money and it would continue on down to the fringe major league types making the league minimum. However, as we all know, MLB is not a perfect market. There are inefficincies that can be exploited for a competitive advantage." that seems to be the premise of that entire post... maybe i read it too fast but i dont agree.... if there are say, 10 teams that feel if they get a #3 or #4 pitcher to strengthen their rotation... that they will then have a very good chance of winning more and making the playoffs.... now... say there are 4 #3 or #4 starters.... those 10 teams are going to want those 4 players very bad and will naturally compete against eachother to win the services of those players... its not like they say.... "oh, well clement is only a midlevel performance guy... so we are going to offer him 5 million...." then team b says the same thing... same thing from c... etc.... its not like those 10 teams are going to offer what he is worth and then let clement CHOOSE what team HE wants to play for.... the team wants to make the CHOICE for him, hence him getting 10 million instead of the 5 or 6 he is "worth" i think its an easy concept to understand and its just part of the game

WSCR reports on Clement
i would have rather had clement... hes got better numbers though his carrer... have better stuff IMO... and will probably do better in our park both of those pitchers arent worth 10 million compared to what other pitchers who didnt sign this year are getting paid but this year, we need someone like clemente or pavano... so we have to pay it
-
WSCR reports on Clement
i dont think that some people here understand the concept of supply and demand there arent that many middle of the rotation starters out that in the FA market and TONS of teams need them so, all of them are naturally going to get into bidding wars with eachother its just what needs to be done, every starter will get a lot more then hes worth this season, look back... and wait to see as well perez, lowe, clement.... they all will get TONS more then they deserve
