  1. I mean in terms of value to the team. I know Ramirez is hot, but having watched both he and Uribe, I think their offensive and defensive games (in sum) are equal to one another.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) He's only had one really good year. What historical stats can we pull from 3 full seasons in the league? He's not a proven vet, he's a young guy who's had one very good year. Why does he get to keep starting? I have no idea what statistics you are looking at.
  3. QUOTE (Hanky Panky @ May 31, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) I recently added Ian Stewart to my NL-only fantasy baseball team and I was reading... Some news is that Garrett Atkins is available and could be traded soon. Ian Stewart has been playing an okay 2B for the Rockies. Stewart's natural position is 3B though. So, to make room for Stewart at 3B, Colorado may trade Atkins. Is there any way we could maybe land him? I know Crede has been doing a decent job with the bat, but I still like Atkins. Atkins is probably available, it just wouldn't make sense for us. Crede has done well and we'd have to give up a lot to get a guy who wouldn't have a position with us. Atkins is also a prime example of a guy whose trade value exceeds his overall worth.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) Maybe if Uribe would get the same amount of time as Ozuna does, maybe. But as long as Uribe is on this team, you know Ozzie will use him over more deserving players. Ramirez and Uribe are essentially the same player, so I'm not really concerned who gets more playing time.
  5. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2008 -> 07:43 AM) The career .252 hitter, who is batting in the .190's this year and batted in the .230's last year, and who is argueably the worst offensive player in the majors, is a better hitter? Sure he plays better D, but Uribe is one of the worst offensive players I've ever seen in the past 3 years. Ozuna might not be a great hitter, but he is sure as hell better than Uribe with the stick. I think anyone who can hold a bat would be better than Uribe with the stick. And I think anyone who can put on a glove would be better than Ozuna with the leather. What do you want from your utility IF? Uribe is the prototype for utility IF.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2008 -> 07:35 AM) I disagree strongly. Ozuna at least offers some offensive potential and while his D might not be as good as Uribe's, he has played a fine 3B in place of Crede. Could we upgrade on Ozuna? Probably. But that fat pile of goo isn't it. I believe it's time we cut ties with Uribe once and for all. What the f*** are you talking about? Ozuna is a terrible player who offers negative defense at every position. Uribe can play 3 IF positions quite well and is a better hitter than Ozuna. Good grief.
  7. I'm sure Swisher would also benefit from having protection behind him.
  8. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ May 26, 2008 -> 01:07 AM) Also, if you know about stuff like BABIP and LD, you have most likely never had any contact with a vagina. lol amirite brah? lolerz
  9. I jizzed my pants when that ball left the bat. Awesome job Contreras. He looked amazing.
  10. I'm assuming Quentin doesn't tell them to give him a new nickname because he trusts people won't jump to hilarious conclusions based on a f***ing nickname.
  11. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 25, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) While Gonzalez and DLS have had their problems this year, there is no doubting the talent and potential they possess. Gio has always been overhyped, but I think he can make for a good 3-4 starter, and DLS has the stuff to be at least a good reliever. It's silly to write them off because of trouble adjusting so far. I could say the same about Swish. I just don't see Gio being a major-leaguer, nor do I see DLS being projected as anything but a TJ case right now. Sweeney -- time will tell, but right now he looks like a 4th OF.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ May 25, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) ?
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ May 25, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) That is supposed to be in green right? Not at all.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 24, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) I tried this already, don't bother. Apparently he is "lucky" and has "no potential." If you don't understand how lucky a .352 BABIP coupled with a 16% LD is-- then you've got, at best, a rudimentary understanding of baseball.
  15. Wow. Pratt, you're ridiculous. Suspicions based on a nickname. A new low.
  16. I'm anxiously awaiting BearSox's response about his hate of "sabermetrics"
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 22, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) Did I ever tell anyone that I hate sabermetrics? That would be irrelevant considering I haven't posted anything remotely sabermetric. It would make as much sense as me posting "I hate green tea" after you post a Sweeney knob-slob fest.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 22, 2008 -> 07:29 AM) It's unlucky if you hit a laser right at someone. Its not unlucky if you hit weak grounders and infield pop-ups. His LD% is 21% -- right in line with his career numbers.
  19. Also -- Swisher is sporting a BABIP of .250 right now. Compare that to Sweeney's .358. What does that mean? One of them has been unlucky -- the other quite lucky. Take your pick.
  20. I have no doubt that BearSox knows absolutely nothing about Ryan Sweeney's potential. Swisher is not a "nice" player -- "nice" players don't post 125/127 OPS+ at the age of 25-26.
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) Ryan Sweeney has been out-producing Nick Swisher in almost every major category this season, in about 60 less AB's... just saying. a-b-e-r-r-a-t-i-o-n
  22. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 21, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) A 71% success rate at stealing is "mediocre"? Wow. Tough crowd. I agree that CQ is what's making this team UN-like 2007. Who knows where we'd be if he hadn't come along and Owens were in? Yes, 71% is really not good.
  23. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:44 AM) what's the deal with Danny? he shows up late to ST because of Visa issues, and now he's injured for two months? what's the deal with that? He got hurt. Do you want to blame him for it?
  24. I don't understand how anyone could think Owens hit reasonably well. He was abysmal.
