Has the Internet taken some fun out of baseball?

Get off my lawn! -
Fields to 1st?! What an innovative and unprecedented idea.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) paul depodesta? DePo built what Ned Colletti is trying to destroy.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) Where is Obama going to win?? It is not winner take all. It's all about delegates. Jesus Christ - get it through your skull.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) And thank God there are fans like sircaffey who wants Ryan Howard traded after one good season for someone else with potential! Get a AAA and two AA prospects. It's like arguing with a brick wall. I would say right now that Fields is more of a "sure thing" than Crede. Crede's the one who has "potential", considering he's coming off of back surgery. Fields is a safer bet, IMO. Even Crede's ceiling (2006) pales in comparison to Fields'.

Fields/Jenks might not net Cain. Jesus Christ.

Jose Lopez is seriously terrible at baseball.

How anyone could be a fan of Jose Lopez boggles my mind.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 01:48 PM) It's just my opinion. I threw it out there and will stand by it. Let's see what happens. ...ok. I would just like to know the reasoning for such an opinion. To me, Sweeney was not the prize of the deal. You don't show regression in repeating AAA and have teams coveting you.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) If they are smart, they did. Please, someone explain to me what is so smart about this.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Harold Reynolds stated that the piece the A's wanted most was Ryan Sweeney. Maybe he's a liar, I don't know. I think idiot makes more sense than liar. But hey, if Beane was holding out for a guy who regressed in his second season in the absolutely atrocious International League, mayhaps he's not a great GM.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Maybe Harold Reynolds is a liar, I don't know. Yes, I am sure they wanted Sweeney more than DLS. Please.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Dec 27, 2007 -> 10:02 PM) Scary, considering it was practically the same most of last year. A talented player in left? Then why can't I remember who he even is? I'm not being an ass, I'm serious. Richar is not fully developed yet from what I can tell. He's not quite ML yet. Jerry Owens? I'm fairly impressed with him but not to the point where he seems like the Pods of early '05. You forgetting Carlos Quentin is much more reflective of your intellect than Carlos' talent.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 07:22 AM) I would be happy to see Garland and Crede go to L.A. for Broxton and 2 other prospects. Then, the Sox keep Broxton and add Gio and say Broadway to Fla. for Cabrera. That works for me. Then, they could sign Rowand, Loretta and a Japanese reliever and they could actually contend next year. I'd rather just keep the prospects and buy low on Luke Scott for LF. We need to keep these young talents.
-
QUOTE(Lemon_44 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) Beckett is the only sure thing and they had to rest(DL) him during the year. Schilling and Wakefield are both in their 90's so they can't be counted on much longer.Dice-K stunk the 2nd half. The two young guys haven't proven they can be long term answers. So, Boston, like every MLB team, very much needs starting pitching. They just may not be as desperate as some other teams. No...they don't need starting pitching. They have six starters at least, all of whom are arguably better bets than Garland.
-
Adam Dunn>Carl Crawford This team needs to be built around guys like Fields, not swapping them for overrated one trick ponies like Crawford.
-
If we give up Josh Fields for Crawford I will not watch an inning of White Sox baseball until everyone in management is out of a job. Carl Crawford is not a special player.
-
I'd take Betemit straight up for him and laugh all the way to the bank.

Who would you like to see fired the most?
eickevinmorris replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Fire KW and hire DePodesta. Problems solved. -
Yes, that .270/.316/.417 line plus his s***ty arm really have carried the team.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) So you think KW did a horrible job as a GM by not unloading his best defensive IF'er his MVP candiate from last season and his #3 starter, oh and for not going into the season without a lead off man. so to back up his back to back 90 win seasons and a ws title, he should have basically thrown in the towel before this season and dealt 4 significant players for question marks. And with that white flag you believe he would have been a better GM. explain to me how that makes ANY sense whatsoever. To best make a run at the divison, the best way to do that is subtract talent, and add question marks? jack Cust? please. If picking up a journeyman DH was the move you wanted to see, then you need to take a better look at the team you are working with. Ross Gload would have been more valuable. 1. Podsednik is nothing. Garbage. Terrible. Leadoff man is not a position, it's a spot in the order that easily could've been given to Tad. 2. The chances of Dye having another season like that were about 1/100. 3. Ross Gload more valuable than Jack Cust? That's a joke. Good GMs foresee this kind of season and rebuild when it is not anticipated. Bad GMs stick with guys too long (Podsednik) and reward guys for past performances, not future success and potential (Contreras). This was a joke of an offseason.

I'd much rather have one speed specialist and one guy with pop in my backup OF.
