  1. Near miss? That was a NEAR HIT! If it actually hits his heart, THEN it's a near miss! (modified from George Carlin) Seriously though iamshack is totally right, is it going to take someone getting killed, literally, before anything is done about this?
  2. Wolves are pretty benevolent towards people aren't they?
  3. I definitely could've told you that Clinton was president and I think Edgar was governor, I really doubt if I could've told you what congressional district I was in or who was in that position (Jesse Jackson Jr. got elected when I was in h.s. though), I might've been able to tell you one senator but not both (I knew Carol Moseley-Braun). Everyone knew Daley was the mayor of Chicago although I lived in the suburbs at the time. I couldn't have told you jack diddly s*** about local government, though.
  4. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) He was slightly banged up from the week before, but he said he figured he would be used less this week. Which is weird. WTF would he figure that?? I'm guessing the real deal was he is hurt and they just don't want anyone to know where. He is way ahead of Hester and should be starting oppo Knox. Hester should be exactly what Martz pegged him as when he first arrived, Az-Hakim. I'm thinking he didn't play because Martz wanted more speed to run the slants and post routes to stop Dallas from blitzing.
  5. Houston's offense looks downright frightening today. OT or no OT, Schaub has 497 yards passing.
  6. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) Having Williams leave and the OL get better is such a HUGE f***ing indictment on Angelo. This team still needs more talent and OL and in the secondary. Lost Major Wright to a hammy today too. Steltz time is never a good time. Who else would you have drafted that year? They desperately needed a OT more than any other position (just like they did the year before that and the year after that and the year after that). You can make an argument for Otah, and the whole issue with Williams's back injury was egg all over Angelo's face, but they needed a LT. IIRC, the meathead crowd wanted McFadden
  7. Me: electronics (computers, home audio, etc. and really all this s*** these days can be linked together if you can spring the green for it), landscaping/gardening/lawn beautification, reading nonfiction, building music libraries, building digital TV show/movie libraries over my media player, video games. I think I'm going to be one of those people who takes a cruise every 1-2 years and reviews them online. Also starting to get into stocks and investing, just a little.
  8. It really hurts that Chris Williams, who was for all intents and purposes the right pick at the time, is looking like a bust now. When you leave the game due to injury and you are replaced by FRANK GOD DAMN MOTHERf***ING OMIYALE and there is no dropoff in play that's a searing indictment against you.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) Sorry, but running the clock out is actually running some sizeable chunk of the clock off, not running the ball for no gain three times and taking the minimal amount of time off the clock without it stopping. That might be conservative, but it's a 2-possession game for Dallas so you can do that.
  10. BTW, think Brett Favre understands the point of training camp after today?
  11. Jay Cutler raised his middle finger in the direction of a lot of people this afternoon.
  12. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Can we please stop playing the 2 deep shell or whatever Aikman calls it... gives Romo easy passes. Giving up completions and yardage isn't as important as keeping the WRs inbounds and wasting the clock.
  13. Oy, not even close. Dallas needed those 3 points. I love how Briggs is all over the place though.
  14. With this line, Forte is so useless between the tackles.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) I don't know what league you've been watching for the last few years then... I know, I mean I don't like it when the Bears get penalized for doing it and I'm just being consistent here.
  16. Yeah I mean I'll take the 15 yards but I don't think that was really a penalty
  17. Good coverage by Newman on that bomb to Hester because if he hadn't been all over Hester, that's 6.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) The first series looked bad but Martz made adjustments. Bears fans just arent used to a coordinator who doesnt stubbornly stick to the same 3 plays. Yeah, it's just... I really wasn't expecting that. At first it was just straight up poor blocking and guys blowing their blocking assignments but eventually Martz figured out his original plan wasn't working and ditched it completely. That was surprising, to say the least. This is something I can never remember happening under Turner, except on accident.
  19. Romo's 2 INTs weren't all bad... he's playing pretty decent and the Bears D is playing pretty tough right now. One of those picks was his WR's fault IIRC and the other got tipped (I forgot by whom). Dallas is getting blitz-happy and they are leaving receivers open, and Martz is letting Cutler exploit the holes. It just shows you how bad Turner really was.
  20. I was talking to a guy whose gripe about getting Rivera was entirely related to the fact that he was on the '85 squad. Nevermind Rivera's vanilla blitz packages that were unreliable for generating pressure or anything, nevermind that Rivera wasn't going to be able to make fillet mignon out of some moldy bacon and a turd, nevermind that he didn't make in-game adjustments to his game planning... nope we dissed him, we shoulda kept him cuz he was on the '85 squad
  21. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) Very true. This interview has shades of Ditka. I wonder if I would hated Ditka had I been alive to see him act like this. A guy wrote in some comments that he wants Lovie to be like this. I said I disagree, what's the difference between Lovie's sugar-coating bulls*** and refusing to acknowledge problems and this meathead rant where he refused to acknowledge problems. Lovie Smith could dress in drag and sing Lady Gaga on the sidelines for all I give a f*** if the Bears are winning games. Scouting and development, discipline, careful game planning, and execution will get you at least 10-11 wins every year, not ya guy who gets pissed off and yells at players and reporters. After 2006, the Bears might have 2 of those 4 things at any given time.
  22. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) I never thought anything would make appreciate lovie smith, but watching that meatball act by mike singletary was truly embarassing. God, please keep this guy away from Halas hall. Dick Jauron was right, keep him away. Bears fans LOVE that meathead s***.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:15 AM) I just can't seem to grasp how this sounds right..."His war is 3.0..." Now if you say he was worth 3 wins or 3 wins above the replacement player, that seems to give people a better understanding of what you're trying to say. I've also heard people say things like, "He's OPSing .856". That just makes it sound like that guy has some weird condition going on or is on some type of weird menstrual cycle for men. I've never said WAR out loud, it's occurred to me just now. I read it as the word it spells which I guess sounds kind of odd but I just do since it does spell out a word. I do the same with WHIP but not ERA. Maybe cuz that's one of the stats I've known since I was a little kid and I hear the announcers say it all the time. All the other stuff, except OPS, I read as three letters except OBP which for some reason I read as "on-base percentage" like everyone does with "AVG."
