  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) He really is an excellent platoon player I agree.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) Someone brought it up in chat 2 gays ago, whether this team was more 2003 or 06ish. I'll say 2003 since we've been more frustrating throughout. Let's hope for a different finish. lol
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 12:25 AM) 2006 was way worse than this year. That team seemingly lost a 6 game WC lead at the ASB in no time, and everyone but Dye seemingly quit the last month of the year. The only reason 2006 wasn't heartbreaking is because it came right after 2005. But the second half of that year was painful to watch.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) Marry me. Lostfan. But in a manly platonic way. Take a number.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) Some of us don't live in Chicago. Where's the happy feelings for us? It's on NFLN
  8. QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Good catch! Then, we can rise to the top once more. 3B was horrendus in 2008 with 33 errors! If Fields surpass 33 errors, then close the stadium doors until next season. I think Alexei will make 25 errors or so. I am not counting mental errors. This turned out to be a pretty accurate thread Cubano, except the fact that Fields got demoted. Alexei could be an elite SS if he wasn't so erratic.
  9. In this situation I don't mind bunts, you get 2 runners in scoring position and your best hitter coming to the plate.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) Yeah, he gave up one home run to Hairston. Then he gets the next guy to hit a routine fly ball, Rios drops it. He hit a guy on 0-2, that's his fault. The next ball is a routine grounder to Nix. He should be out of the inning. I don't want excuses saying he should pitch over mistakes. 1) He pitched over one in the previous inning 2) anytime you give a team 5 outs, they will score a lot of runs on you. I don't know how the official scorer can say that the ball Cust hit was actually a hit. Nix bobbled it for 5 seconds. No, he was running at the ball that was probably at the edge of his range and had trouble stopping and getting his bearings. That would've been a great play if he could've made it (he's done stuff like this before FWIW so he was capable of making it, but still). Far from routine.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) For a so called "great pitchers manager" Ozzie has no idea about when and where some of his guys need to leave the game. I actually think Ozzie does a great job with our starters for the most part.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) Every pitch from the 4th inning on that he threw was just hanging right over the plate. It's sickening to see what has become of his fork ball. It's like if Kim Kardashian all of a sudden lost her ass in two years. Awesome analogy.
  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:35 PM) oh, and as for your crystal ball, can i borrow it some time? Doesn't take a crystal ball to see that. If you throw a meatball up in the zone to Pujols, what usually happens?
  14. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) this one = errors. and if i recall correctly, buehrle had two pretty brutal games following the perfecto. DFA him. I was with you until this. Contreras has had MANY brutal games by now, it's a routine thing. This one just happens to be not as bad as the result would indicate and is twice as bad as it should be because of the piss-poor fielding and mental errors.
  15. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) How about with our awesome O? They already scored 6 runs in this game, that isn't and shouldn't be the reason we're losing this game.
  16. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) jesus you people are ridiculous tonight. EVERY team runs out guys like Contreras on a weekly basis. he's been an adequate 5th starter this year and came back from a massive injury. give the guy a f***ing break. without the errors he'd have given up 1 or 2 at most. It probably wouldn't be so bad if the Sox weren't playing like they just licked a bucket filled with AIDS.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) what the f***? without the errors the score wouldn't be NEARLY as bad. whats with the hatred towards jose? Yeah, the horses*** defense really compounded that inning.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) At least we can once again confidently say his extension was the worst contract of KW's regime. In his defense there was no reason to think he'd be this bad at the time of that extension.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) If he fields that cleanly, it's an out. It's a play that has got to be made, as Contreras was at the bag in time. Yeah, but it's not easy to field that cleanly. That was far from a routine play. I could see if it was just a few feet to his right or left and it bounced off his glove but he was probably 35, 40 feet to his left and almost in right, and still moving when he got there.
  20. QUOTE (slayingem @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) man y arent the corner outfielders giving way to rios?....as i write this nix makes an error ridiculous That wasn't an error, they gave him a hit for that. Look at where Nix had to go and what he had to do to make that play.
  21. Carlos, pick up the f***ing ball and throw it, damn. That just cost a run.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) This defense is such a freaking joke. A's are one swing away from being back in this game. And there it is.
  23. I'm not going to bash Nix for bobbling that ball, that would've been a tough play.
  24. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:59 PM) Orton - 3 drives, 3 interceptions. God Im glad this guy is gone. I'm actually going to defend Kyle here - while seeing this is hilarious, it's only because people tried to actually say Cutler and Orton are comparable. Orton isn't much better than an average QB, but it's not because he's prone to interceptions. Usually his passes (especially deep ones) are so poorly thrown that they cant even be intercepted.
