How many more starts does Jose get?
lostfan replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) post #25 You posted that twice. -
Man if I ever had deja vu...

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) I support some type of public option. This actually puts you in line with Obama (his real plan, not the evil paranoia of a government takeover that will kill old people and retarded babies and set up abortion clinics inside junior high schools).

lol Balta, genius is doing this just to get a rise out of you, it's kind of funny to watch actually.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) Show me a link or some video footage of a Republican group doing the same as the union assholes and I will believe you.Oh...I forgot, Obama and his goons are never wrong are they? Prove that WE ARE FULL OF s***. I think the Obama and his apologists are the ones ...... lol, why are you pigeonholing me into some pro-Obama position when I never said anything like that? Did you know I actually lean towards opposing Obama's plan? If I wanted to "prove" that Republicans were just as disruptive as Democrats all I'd have to do is do a quick search on Politico, Salon, TPM, Huffpo, Dailykos, etc. for the last few days but bmags already partially did that for me. It's pretty clear just from browsing articles the past few days that people of all political stripes are being assholes and I'm kind of mystified that anyone could pretend otherwise with a straight face. It doesn't really matter who "started it" at this point, either. The entire debate has turned stupid.

Ugh the only time I ever want to see a DP is in a porno.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) Beckham will come up big again here... He hasn't gotten a hit yet. Is it time to think about trading him?
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) no they are right on point. A Dem congressman wasn't assaulted before SEIU. Republicans are american. That Orwellian manipulation of language is really clever. Put together with certain half-truths and blatantly untrue things being repeated over and over until they are accepted as true and you have a really difficult time arguing.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
lostfan replied to prochisox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 09:50 AM) If this is true, between Rios, Peavy and the Coyotes, JR is really spending like the proverbial drunken sailor of late. Ben Gordon must really feel dissed. salary cap -
Imagine being his dealer. You tell him to be discreet when he shows up and when he does, he goes "HI EVERYONE, BILLY MAYS HERE FOR COCAINE"

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 12:41 AM) 10th though his arm ranks 4th (Rios is 3rd, Francoeur and Soriano ahead of them). Nick's UZR numbers have been quite bad this year. I've only gotten to about 3 O's games this year and haven't gotten him to play. Usually he's quick, not much will fall between him and Jones out there. And running on him is usually pretty dumb.

Geez Greg, Dye is my favorite player, I have 2 Dye jerseys. The guy can hit. But he can't play the field for s*** unless the ball is hit within 20 feet of him or is a soft, lazy fly ball. The adjectives being used here to describe him may be a little much but they aren't that far off. The World Series has nothing to do with this.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 12:34 AM) I agree, off topic but it's one of the reasons why someone like Rios would be a huge addition to this team. He's an elite defender with and elite arm. Over the past 3 years he has the highest UZR/150 of any OF with at least 3000 innings played. On the flip side Jermaine Dye has the 3rd lowest number over that same period. His presence alone in CF would completely change the makeup on this defense. Since you probably have the window still open, where does Markakis rank?

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) It's a point that gets overlooked a lot around here. Agreed.

Alexei didn't get that ball because it took him a couple of extra seconds to stand upright, since his head was up his ass. -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) I hope Masterson hits Wise and Wise charges the mound and beats him silly. Wise would have to try not to strike out on the first pitch. -

Power-hitting (HR leading) teams rarely make playoffs
lostfan replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not seeing the point of this article. It talks about how the Rangers were all hitting and no pitching but doesn't bother to mention the Sox were tied for the best ERA in the AL in 2005, and it's not like that was a power-starved team. Keep Frank Thomas on that team all year and they are probably 2nd in homers in the AL, and unless the author is trying to say having Frank Thomas on that offense makes them less likely to make the playoffs - which I doubt - what is he getting at? -
Yeah I heard about this. He had one drink, slipped up and his alcoholism kicked back in. Then when he was drunk he supposedly asked where he could find some blow (they tested a couple days later and found no cocaine). It was a few months ago though and he says it was an isolated incident.
