August 9, 200916 yr Link "Yesterday I get upset, they hit one guy and they throw in into another guy. I got upset. I know for a fact they're not throwing at nobody, but enough is enough," Guillen said. "I have Konerko bruised all over the place. Around the league, be careful because we're going to hit people. I don't care if I get suspended because I need to protect my players." The White Sox have been hit by pitches 45 times this season, fifth in the majors. The Indians have been hit 65 times, most in the majors. "When we went to Cleveland they hit two guys, not on purpose, but someone can get hurt out there. You can pitch in, but if you don't know how don't do it," he said. "It gets to the point when they hit us seven times, 20 times in one week and we hit one and they're the headhunters and that's a [problem] with major league baseball." Guillen also warned: if he suspects a pitcher is intentionally throwing at one of his players, expect multiple retaliation. "If I see someone hit my player, and I know they hit him on purpose it's two guys going down. I don't care if I get suspended," Guillen said. "I rather have me suspended for two games than have my players on the DL for 30 days." (Bonus obscure nerd points for anyone who can call where the thread title is adapted from).
August 9, 200916 yr He should have had Contreras bean someone today... it would have been one of the only positive things he would have done today...
August 10, 200916 yr Yeah, if he's going to run his mouth like this, today would've been the perfect day to put it into effect.
August 10, 200916 yr I kind of think it's Ozzie's way of bluffing the opposing pitchers into NOT hitting our batters. I actually think Ozzie's smart in having the guts to say stuff like that.
August 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) Link (Bonus obscure nerd points for anyone who can call where the thread title is adapted from). Millagro Beanfield War?
August 10, 200916 yr Ozzie needs to keep his mouth shut and just do what he has to do. Now that he's run his mouth, the next time a Sox pitcher hits a batter there will be warnings and suspensions.
August 10, 200916 yr I love all the whining about Ozzie. All I know is Ozzie helped bring a ring to my favorite team. Maybe all the whiners should become cub fans. Since I'm guessing Pineilla would be second guessed a lot less around here than Ozzie.
August 10, 200916 yr Ozzie needs to keep his mouth shut and just do what he has to do. Now that he's run his mouth, the next time a Sox pitcher hits a batter there will be warnings and suspensions. Are you Jay Hineybird? Jay's back. I hope Ozzie always remains Ozzie. He's great.
August 10, 200916 yr Idiotic thought process on guillen's part. This. I normally love Ozzie's fiery attitude, but this is just ridiculous.
August 10, 200916 yr We'll see what happens. My money is on more Sox getting hit... Ozzie needs to shut up and just play the game. Ugh, enough already. So tired of his nonstop blabbering. Why contradict yourself? Either they're hitting you on purpose, or not. Why would you retaliate if YOU are saying you know it wasn't intentional? So dumb.

August 10, 200916 yr MLB: Encouraging Being a p**** Since 1993- The league is looking into comments Guillen made on Sunday about retaliation, according to an MLB source. Paul Konerko, Gordon Beckham and Scott Podsednik were hit by pitches by the Cleveland Indians during the Sox's 8-5 win on Saturday. Guillen pointed out he didn't think the Indians were throwing at his players, but he is frustrated by his players getting hit. The Sox have been hit 44 times this season, which is the fifth-highest total in the majors. Guillen said he doesn't care if he gets suspended for retaliating. "[On Saturday] I get upset, they hit one guy and they throw in into another guy," Guillen said on Sunday. "I got upset. "I know for a fact they're not throwing at nobody, but enough is enough. I have Konerko bruised all over the place. Around the league, be careful because we're going to hit people. I don't care if I get suspended because I need to protect my players. I miss the old baseball where you had an eye for an eye kind of mentality.
August 10, 200916 yr Consider this the final mass warning. I don't like suspending people but if people continue to assault or attack a poster that is it. No questions ask, any further attacks in this thread will result in a minimum of a 10 day suspension.
