I have heard a few people trying to say "Palin's comment was exaggerated but not really that far off." Any possible explanation justifying that exaggeration (well, bald-faced lie, but I'm in a generous mood) is a moot point though, because that stuff already exists in the system we have now, it's just not transparent and called something else (rationing etc, even though rationing is already happening and always has been). Plus, this is under the assumption that a gov't takeover of the system is being proposed, which it's not.

I know that Griffey really didn't do much of anything as a White Sox, but that to me is all secondary. It was just awesome seeing possibly my favorite player of all time in my team's uniform. If I understand correctly, the EPA hasn't given an "official" number. The actual number really isn't that important though. That's marketing, GM wants people to start going "holy s*** 230 miles to the gallon!" Which so far seems to be working.
