Koch
Koch throws it hard and straight. Alone a pitcher can succeed with one of these things but together they are a recipe for the long ball. I mean Carl Crawford hit a walkoff HR off him last year. CARL CRAWFORD the guy with seven career homeruns!! It's like you just swing your bat and let the velocity do the work.

Jeremy Affeldt
The Royals look like the 2003 Sox. Hit alot of homeruns but blow it at the end.

Closer?
Wright is one of the few on that list that have never tried closing a game. In fact he's never even done any relieving besides long relief really. Somebody PLEASE give him a chance!! I think he has closer stuff and a closer mindset. Just watch him in the first 3 innings of any of his starts.

YES! YES! YES!
When Dan Wright is demoted to the bullpen and Cotts becomes the 5th starter, he will show some people how to pitch a ninth inning.

Hey Royals
I feel the same way. Weird because our win was helped greatly by that Mendy Lopez error.

ESPN Radio Reporting option year only thing...
Agreed. He is a superstar in this town whether people know it or not. In New York or Boston, he would be overshadowed by an Alex Rodriguez or a Manny Ramirez. Oh yeah and on some Cub board I was browsing, some fans were convinced they would be signing either Maggs or Beltran by next year. :fthecubs

The Marlins
Brad Penny on my fantasy team. Wow! what an outing he had against Los Expos. Hopefully he can dominate some real offenses as well.

Cubs in some trouble
Ok, who brings World Series signs to games in April?? Especially if your team choked and didn't even MAKE the world series the year before. Maybe they should just bring signs like this: :dips***

Guess Mariotti's headline in tomorrow's paper:
My guess would be something about the 4,000 or so empty seats.

Thank You Ozzie for speaking the truth
I think what the Giants did in the playoffs constitutes a choke.

Konerko for Perez
This thread has degenerated into a war of insults. Let's try and keep it civilized and not air out our personal attacks publicly.

Thank You Ozzie for speaking the truth
Ozzie is making some serious SENSE here. As a pure manager, Manuel was fine but he sucked as a motivator. The players constantly seemed to let him (and us) down in the crucial game-changing situations. So far, Ozzie has these guys playing near midseason form and it makes him look like a brilliant manager. I think Ozzie is a fantastic motivator, hell he motivates me when I read his quotes in the newspaper.

Konerko for Perez
Agreed, the strategy is buy low and sell high. PK is still low right now.

The trade that did not happen
You're crazy. Over his career, Perez has had exactly one season where his ERA was below 4.50. Last year Perez had a 4.52 ERA and 1.28 WHIP pitching half his games in DODGER STADIUM. Now take those numbers and extrapolate them to a season in the American League in a hitter's ballpark like USCF. By and large, ST numbers are meaningless for hitters AND pitchers.

Watching the Replay
I changed the channel for a sec and noticed that too. That sux big time.

Let's all say a big "Thanks!"
Freddy Garcia for Jose Valentin was the one I wanted.

Ordonez: Sox deal 'close' to happening
I never really bothered to define "MVP-type player" so it's really meaningless. It was mostly based on my perception of his potential that he can put up MVP numbers in any given season. Also with the $65 million, average is a misleading statistical measure. For example the Sox $65 million puts them 5th in the American League. The average is definitely skewed by outliers over $100 million in the Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels. The only AL team that spends more than the Sox besides these is Seattle at $81 million.

Detroit Crushing Toronto
I would rather they kept playing Minny but they can crush Toronto too. I'm not worried about them.

Ordonez: Sox deal 'close' to happening
How about 6/68 with some INCENTIVES. I know JR is big on backloading and extra clauses but an MVP type player like Maggs should have some playoff incentives in there. Wouldn't that be a win-win scenario?

Those gray jackets
They just said on PTI Bobby Cox hates those gray jackets. Apparently MLB is requiring all teams to wear these gray jackets on the road. I know aboz said he liked em but I am NOT a fan of the gray jackets. I know I would feel pretty stupid wearing a gray jacket with gray pants.

Official Opening Day Game Thread
That homerun to Sweeney was all Sweeney. He hit that fastball up near eye level.
