  1. I think it would be a good idea. Sometimes all the Minor League info gets lost in PHT. I also think it would generate more Minor League interest here on Soxtalk.
  2. I like the Cub fan swearing picked up on the microphone. And that's two hits for the Cubs. If Sosa had hit a HR, this would have been your protypical Cubs game. Get spanked by the Pirates but Sammy hits a meaningless HR.
  3. I think the Cubs hurt us in terms of attendance and media coverage. This makes them very much a rival of the White Sox. BTW, Sabathia is out so everybody get your booze ready cuz the Indians bullpen is in.
  4. Sorry I thought it was still pinned. We call it Quotes of the Month. April Quotes of the Month
  5. Sabathia and the Tribe lead the Twinkies 4-0 in the 4th inning. Here's an idea Eric Wedge, leave C.C. in for 9 innings!!
  6. I don't mind Steve Stone. He's got a decent baseball mind and is probably the least homer announcer in this town. Seriously doesn't Chicago have some of the biggest homers in the country with Chip, Hawk, and Mr. Santo?? What will the Cubune headline say about Maddux's outing tomorrow?? Any guesses?
  7. However Albert Belle's salary WAS on the Orioles payroll until last season I believe. Koch will be paid alot less next year or off the books completely.
  8. Jesus is more than a Cub fan, Jesus IS a Cub!! Benson is making 6 million and is a mediocre National League pitcher at best. That's nearly twice what Toad Ritchie was making two years ago. :fyou KW why don't we have Kip Wells on this team?
  9. Pirates look like a little league team out there on defense. Three errors so far on the inning. Does anyone still think the NL Central Pirates are tougher than Cleveland or Detroit??
  10. Todd Helton's Contract: Todd Helton 1B COL Signed Mar 2001 - 9 years/$141.5M 2003: $10.6M 2004: $11.6M 2005: $12.6M 2006: $16.6M 2007: $16.6M 2008: $16.6M 2009: $16.6M 2010: $16.6M 2011: $19.1M 2012: Team option $23.0M or $4.6M buyout -Can void the deal after 2007 Courtesy of MLB Player Contracts
  11. Latest news from Chicago papers has him pushing it back til mid-May at the earliest for his return. Sullivan of the Cubune says it may stretch into early June. It's not hard to see that the Cubs are laying this on the fans one layer at a time. Who knows how deep this rabbit hole goes?
  12. Yes, Danny's plan this offseason was to sacrifice velocity for control. It looks like he has neither now.
  13. I don't know what happened to the other thread about this but the 52 yr. old Jerry Hairston data matches exactly with former White Sox player Jerry Hairston Sr.
  14. BTW word is that Freddy Garcia has shown signs of the 2001 Freddy Garcia we all remember. Still wish we could have seen that Jose for Freddy deal go down but alas, it could not be. Freddy had some damaged eardrums that many say contributed to his awful start last year.
  15. Jerry Hairston Sr. obviously http://www.baseball-reference.com/h/hairsje01.shtml
  16. It's either Zambrano or Wood again. I actually think Wood will make it back to the surgery table again first. He throws so many more hard breaking balls compared to Zambrano. Although fist pumping could wear out a shoulder too... :fthecubs Also, how does baseball buzz end up in New Jersey of all places?
  17. I'd support trading Wright except for the fact some team would turn him into a closer like Biddle in Montreal. Good thing we already have a closer.
  18. Haha someone behind the plate at Petco had a "Bonds Got Juice" sign. I think security was taking them away but they turned and showed the sign to the camera for a good 5 secs before that.
  19. Did anyone else think the ball wasn't carrying too well to center today? Besides a couple of blasts by Thomas and Ordonez, I think Giambi also hit one pretty damn hard that just sorta hung up in CF. This is what Frank had to say: Anyways I think Frank looks great out there and has been a bit unlucky during these first few games.
  20. I was just trying to think to myself, who in the National League is any good this year. The Cubs major competition comes from the Astros but I find the NL East and NL West both to be pretty weak compared to these two teams. The AL meantime has some pretty good teams like New York, Boston, Anaheim or Oakland and few pushovers.
