  1. Blackhawks scored 3 goals already for anyone who cares or doesn't.
  2. Lilli with a nice dive behind second base. Paulie picks the throw and the inning is over.
  3. I feel bad for Jerry Owens. It's as if he's brought a pillow to a knife fight.
  4. They have not said on the radio broadcast (why the late scratch for Getz). Not an inspiring lineup.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) If Ramirez made every play tonight, the White Sox would still be down 6 or 7-0. Who are you going to play there? Nix? What would be the point of bringing up Beckham when he has an 850 OPS in Birmingham? He's made 4 or 5 errors, himself. You want Lillibridge to be the starter? Everyone has games like this...it doesn't count any more than a 1 run loss like Friday against TB. Yeah, I agree. Maybe sit him a game sometime soon. But he is our SS for now.
  6. I knew it was bulls*** because Ozzie would put Jerry in center and stick Brian in left.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) I just don't like when people bring up a pitcher's low BABIP as if the pitcher has zero control over what they can make the batter do when the ball goes into play (I really doubt that's what you were doing, it sounded like you were just saying his BABIP was impossibly low just like his ERA, so my bad if I wasn't clear on what I meant). It's not that a pitcher has zero control exactly, but almost all pitchers are going to swing back to .300 or thereabouts for BABIP For instance, the aforementioned Gavin Floyd: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs.aspx?playe...7&type=full I think Gavin will be fine despite a likely upswing from last year because I think his K:BB rate is going to improve (as it did in the second half of last year) vs. last year's totals.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) I mean that when people cite BABIP they do it to show there's a fluke or what have you, like if their BABIP is really low then they must be lucky. But there is no significant gap between Danks's BABIP and his actual BAA so he must just be inducing those outs on his own, and it's not a fluke. I need to start a thread on this, I think BABIP is kind of a borderline useless stat most of the time because people cite it when they shouldn't (I'm not saying you did, I actually don't know what you were trying to say). What does a gap have to do with it? That's what I'm not following. Large gap=strikeouts. Anyway, he had a BABIP of .295 last year--which is right around what is expected--so if he repeats last year's performance and perhaps improves on it a bit (his K rate is up a little) everyone will be happy. I don't think anyone is expecting him to keep up a .95 ERA.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) I'm not a big fan of BABIP as a stat, but his BAA is .138 so it doesn't appear that number is just luck. I don't follow.
  10. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 01:03 AM) it's early in the season, but just for your enjoyment: Danks major league rankings amongst starting pitchers (national league + american league) ERA: 8th WHIP: 8th SLG: 10th OBA: 10th AVG: 2nd H/9: 1st His BABIP is also .149
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) our relievers suck when they're not under pressure They want to create a save situation so Bobby will be one step closer to getting paid. They are like a band of brothers.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) stat by the O's team: Sox wins they're hitting .350, in losses under .200 I can only draw one conclusion from this: The White Sox are much too reliant on getting hits to score runs. /the greenest green
  13. QUOTE (ChesterCopperpot @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 07:48 PM) Getz needs time at the bottom of the lineup. Batting leadoff has put too much pressure on him. What a bulls*** idea that was. THIS IS KETEL ONE, BOY. YOU WANT AN OLIVE OR A TWIST?
  14. Mercy. This thread was supposed to motivate him, right?
  15. You missed one of the most popular answers -- not worried at all and expect the power to come.
  16. They showed Danks gearing up in the dugout. He'll be in. Rich Koz was crammed into that suit.
  17. Stone said that Dotel greeted the president by hugging him. Heh. I wonder if the prez copped a feel of that sweet, sweet booty. Huh?
  18. The thought in early 2008 was that Getz was being groomed as the club's primary utility player. However, I think his 2008 year at Charlotte made the organization think he would be an everyday player.
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) Anyone else kinda wish Stoney would join Hawk on the "YES!!"? No. It suits Stone not to.
  20. Getz is doing what Getz do. Hit for a high average, low power, take some walks.
