QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 10:54 PM) breaking news T R U traded in the show for mlb 2k12. calls it, "best decision I've ever made." Meanwhile, my RTTS dude is hitting .348 in AAA as a 19 year old on hall of fame settings. 1) Who is TRU, and what are the extents of his apparent brain damage and 2) What the hell is your secret? Don't tell me you are a "timing only" guy with the button mashing, because that's not really fair.

Was hitting about .132 in my RTTS season at 3B for the Cubs AAA team, and guess what..... I was selected to the Future's roster! lol, WTF. And then about 2 days after the Futures game, I got sent down to AA. In AA I had an existing .180 average (yeah, and somehow I was promoted earlier in the year), but now I am starting to do better. I have decided to work on my speed, so I can beat out infield singles, and I have my average up to around .220 I think. Still 0 homeruns (other than w/ the PS Move), but I am finally starting to hit some to the wall.

For anyone wondering, the Twins did not give us access to their major league camp last week, so I didn't get to interview Terry. Instead, I interviewed Red Sox top prospect Kolbrin Vitek, an alum of BSU.

QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) My memory might be hazy, but doesn't Danks suck vs his former team. Especially IN Texas? I seem to remember him getting shelled in Arlington a few seasons ago... That just reminded me of my boy Childish's line from Bonfire.... -

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Danks vs Lewis Peavy vs Darvish Floyd vs Holland Let's win opening day, and then hope. I think I heard Darvish will be used for Game 3, so ESPN can gush over him on Sunday Night Baseball. And living outside of local viewing range (yet still blacked out, ugh), I would like to see it. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Isn't Ephesus a city in the Bible...related to the Ephesians? Maybe we'll need "divine intervention" to win the division this year. It was what Chrome corrected it as, I guess I didn't pay a ton of attention, but you know what I mean. -
Anyone watching Awake? The end of Ep2 got me really pumped. I like where they are going with it.

Also, Escobar and Kuhn looked pretty good, especially Escobar. -

I actually thought Molina looked real solid. Got in to some trouble in the 9th, but dialed up a double play and no damage was done. I was pleased with that movement on his splitter and whatever hell that Ephesus-esque pitch was that confused everyone. -

Nestor Molina has a disgusting split-finger fastball. That thing just falls off the table. He got his first 2 Ks with splitters that ended up in he dirt. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) @AdamSchefter Vikings reached agreement with former Seahawks tight end John Carslon on a five-year, $25 million deal. 11 million is guaranteed. Good to see the Vikings still don't know what they are doing. Dual threat Irish Tight-Ends, huh? Carlson and Rudolph. -
Well, despite Gavin giving up a few hits, it seems like he is putting on a pretty good show for the Jays scouts that are watching him. 4 K's to 0 BB through 2 IP so far. And speaking of Jay's scouts, I got to stand behind one and listen to him talk to a Jays trainer last week. I wish he would have been talking about specific players, or if I could have asked him about scouting Gavin, but either way, it was interesting to hear what he was talking about.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 12:35 AM) I got the Vita today. The Show on it is kind of underwhelming after you've played the PS3 version. Still pretty damn good, but the frame rate and visuals are sorta eh. Portions of the game don't look all that different than the PSP versions (maybe I just have high standards or I just forgot what a PSP game looked like). Did you go for the $70 "double-feature" deal for the PS3/Vita?

Want the secret to hitting a HR in RTTS? Get PS Move! Seriously, it's amazing how much harder I can hit the ball swinging a virtual bat vs. the controller. I don't think I will stick w/ this method for too long, due to having to stand up and have enough room to play, and the fact that it's even more difficult to not want to swing at every pitch thrown to you. But check this out.... I was hitting around .170 in AA, and for some reason got promoted to AAA. In AAA, I was hitting .180. Combined between the two leagues, I had 0 HR and like 3 RBI in about 20-25 games. Yeah, terrible. Then I decided to try and give the Move a shot. In 2 1/2 games, I went 5/11 with 2 HR and 6 RBI. It was like night and day, at least power wise. I struck out more w/ the motion controls, but every ball I hit was smashed. Homeruns were no-doubters that my player flipped his bat and slowly trotted, singles were bullets through the IF, and even foul balls were HR distance. I kind of wonder if once you use the motion controls, if the POWER attribute becomes tied to the actual person swinging, based on bat speed. That would be kind of disappointing if true, but I figured I would share that bit of info.

2012 BP Organizational Rankings - Sox dead last
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yawn. -
So Diamond Dynasty in The Show kind of sucks. It's too confusing, and I honestly think games take way too long for me to ever use that mode. If they made them like mini 5 inning games or something, I would do it. Also, it appears you can't use your own gameplay settings either. And I refuse to use cursor batting and pulse pitching.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) I really don't think I'll ever do anything other than power bar pitching, good old MVP Baseball ripoff style. As for batting, zone + button is it for me. I like how every game is different. I put up 8 runs on the O's with like 4 homers and was worried that it was too homer happy. In the two games since, I've scored 0 and 1 run, with no homers. I am actually a big fan of last year's controls. I use joystick pitching and joystick batting. Fielding is the only think I use the button style for.
-
Ok, pulse pitching and cursor hitting are way too hard. I am losing 1-0 in the 5th inning of my first game vs. Texas. I have 0 hits on offense with like 8 Ks. And pitching, I have only allowed like 3 hits, but I have 0 strikeouts and like 3 walks with Sale.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) Adam Dunn's interviews lately are just freaking weird. "I'm not doing anything different than I've done before" - as he talks about how he's doing things differently. "Can a guy who wasn't injured win Comeback Player of the Year? If they can I'll win it. I don't really want to win it but whatever I guess I'll win it." What a screwy dude. I think he means to win the Comeback Player of the Year award and not have been injured means you were AWFUL the year before, and I think he is saying winning the CPOTY award because you were awful, and not injured, is not something he (or anyone else) would ever want to win. At least, that's how I took it. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) The beginning and end of Awake was good. I about fell asleep during the middle part of it though. I don't see how the show can last very long though. I mean, that's just part of setting up the show. Giving us the meat and potatoes of who the people are. The preview for next weeks episodes looks really interesting. I hope they continue to piece together what happened the night of the accident.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 09:26 AM) Watching AWAKE now. Ugh, can't stand that Wilmer guy. But cool to see Laura Allen get another TV gig after TERRIERS got prematurely axed. God, Terriers was great.
