QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:55 AM) why are you the official soxtalk nicknamer? your nicknames suck.. no offense I disagree.
-
No one decided to put this together, and I don't either. But Morel went 2/4 today. Chris Sale pitched 1 inning. 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, and 3 Ks. He has 15 K now in 6 1/3 IP. JIKES!

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) some people tend to think he projects at 2b, you're a prospect guy, agree? I don't. 2B seems like a much easier position to play, so why move him out of 3B, where he is very good? Sure, he may not have typical 3B power, but I'd rather have a great defensive 3B down there than a good hitter who can't field.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I think I would almost prefer Berkman over Dunn. I think Berkman is the better overall hitter but his main problem has been injuries, and wouldn't cost as much in terms of prospects. However, can't really go wrong with either because they would both provide what we desperately needed. I too wanted Berkman over Dunn.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Apparently the Yankees are on the verge of landing Berkman, taking out a rival in the Dunn sweepstakes. But also taking away some leverage from Kenny, and may push the Rays to get Dunn.

Yankees Close To Acquiring Lance Berkman
-
lol Adam.... "I like their uniforms," Dunn said. "I like black."
-
Assuming EJax stays on normal rest, he would make his debut on Aug 3rd vs. Tigers, then he would get BAL, DET, MIN, BAL.
-
Nationals just traded Christian Guzman to Rangers for prospects. Not sure if this effects a Dunn trade in anyway, like maybe the hangup was because they wanted to see what they got from Rangers before they agreed to Sox deal for Dunn.
-
It appears are we are going to lose like 5-6 prospects today and all we will have to show for it is 2 month of Adam Dunn and Brett Myers. I can't say that I'm impressed.
-
A friend of mine on Facebook who used to work for ESPN seems pretty confident that deal is in place for Jackson + prospects for Dunn, and we are just waiting on Nats to sign off on it.

QUOTE (Linnwood @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) http://twitter.com/JimBowdenXMFOX That's what I thought, but I don't see any of the tweets that were posted 10 pages back or so about Dunn about to be traded to Sox......

What is Bowden's twitter name?

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) Man this is killing me. It seems pretty obvious that Hudson has been dealt, but to where and for whom? I hope it's not the Hudson and prospect for Jackson. That would be giving away too much. Cowley or someone else suggests that 2 deals will be made. 1 is Hudson for Jackson, and the other is probably Jackson and others for someone big. Someone on MLBtraderumors suggests Fister and Kotchman or Myers and Berkman.

This is Hudson Watch 2010, and it's making me tremble with fear of a bad move.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:25 AM) Flowers Ok, that's fine. I would say Morel, but that's my opinion.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) At this point, I'd say: Hudson Viciedo Mitchell Sale Flowers Morel Thompson Danks Gonzalez Gilmore Ok, so for me I would flip Morel and Flowers. Does that mean I think he is untouchable? If I apparently think Morel is untouchable, then I have no idea what that makes Viciedo.....
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:16 AM) This is what I'm trying to say Joe theres no reason for Morel to be as untouchable as you want him to be. I just don't see why not wanting to trade Morel for Jackson, and preferring NOT to trade Morel in a deal for Dunn or Berkman makes him anything close to untouchable. Danks, Flowers, or Morel. Who of those 3 would you want to keep?
-
QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:13 AM) I don't even consider Morel our 3rd best prospect (maybe not even top 5 though I'm different when I count high upside guys like Mitchell, Thompson, etc.. even injured and I didn't even mention Sale) in our entire weak system. He isn't the "next best thing." Solid prospect, but not a blue chip (or even a red chip). Good news for you is I highly doubt the sox could trade a guy with a torn labrum unless said team really likes the prospect overall to off-set that injury. It's not like they could hide it/see it comming. (ala Sirodka, Garcia, etc..) I wouldn't consider Morel our 3rd best prospect either, but we sure as hell aren't in the market to trade Mitchell or Sale. I would put Morel as our 5th best prospect, if you really want to know.
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:03 AM) No necessarily this deal, but everything I read from you makes it seems like Morel should be completely untouchable which is odd because he isn't a cant miss prospect. If you really are reading everything I post, then you would see I put Morel and Hudson on the same level of "keep them if you can". Obviously since Hudson is the one everyone covets, then the next best thing would be to protect Morel if you can.
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) You have a weird obsession with Morel it seems. Because from reading all these threads I don't think you'd trade him for Pujols. Also trading Hudson for Jackson would be a mistake for the reasons everyone else has already covered. Not wanting to trade Morel in an Edwin Jackson deal is completely reasonable, but don't compare Edwin Jackson to Albert Pujols.
-
No, no, no, no, no. Not Hudson + prospect. I wouldn't even do Hudson for Jackson straight up. But I guess if the Nats want Jackson + prospect (non Morel), then I guess I'd do it if it meant our total loss was no more than Hudson + Flowers + Danks + low level guys. No Viciedo or Morel in either trade.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) This guy came up a few years ago I THINK, and it was against the Sox. I was kind of impressed, and by looking at his minor league stats, I wonder why he can't make the big league club in KC. However, I wouldn't get him saying "We got Ka'aihue for cheaper than Berkman". I'd get Ka'aihue as another guy in the system as the organization continues to attempt to rebuild the farm. You don't think if we got Kila he would get a chance to be our DH? I mean, he is raking in AAA, and is a lefty bat. Also, he is 26, so he deserves to get a shot real soon.

I like the wave. It brings the fans together and gets them up and having a good time.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) Andy Wilkins hit a 2 out grand slam in the 9th to cap a 5 run 9th and tie the Voyagers' game at 8. Pretty sick. 21 RBI in 19 games to start his career? Not bad. Would like to see him pushed to Kanny.
