  1. I always imagined I would hit a HR for the White Sox before Juan Pierre did.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) I'm at work, but my computer says AJ was caught stealing. Were AJ's pants set on fire, and thus he tried to run around to put them out? It was the ever-sneaky "delayed" steal, which just turned into a delayed out.
  3. That fly-out to the wall for Kotsay will warrant him playing all this week. GREAT!!!
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) This feels like a Twins offensive inning from the past few years. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) Haha, we are small balling them to death!! VIVA LA TWINS!
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Jackson has pretty good mechanics from what I see. He keeps his PAS elbow below his lead elbow through his whole delivery. The height of the lead elbow does have a lot to do with control and I like how he pointed that out in the article. Not exactly the same frame in his delivery and not exactly the same angles, but I think his lead elbow is a higher in Detroit. I think that just has to do with the pictures being taken at different points in delivery. I think had he been more progressed in his wind-up, like in the Dbacks picture, his lead elbow would be lower because he is going forward and down with his body. I think they would end up about the same. The one thing I DO notice is the positioning of his lead foot. He seems to be point his lead toe on the Dbacks (Thus, having a more open spread on the stride) vs. the picture on the Tigers where his foot is more pointed on the 3B side of the plate (And maybe throwing more across his body).
  6. Wilkins blasting a HR for team USA back in 2009. He has a very powerful looking stroke, and finishes his swing pretty smooth.
  7. Full Name: Andrew Wilkins Born: 09/13/1988 Birthplace: Broken Arrow, OK College: Arkansas Height: 6' 2" Weight: 225 Bats: L Throws: R Andy Wilkins was drafted in the 5th RD of the 2010 MLB Draft, and was the first White Sox position player that was drafted in 2010. Wilkins was previously drafted out of High School by the Texas Rangers in the 25th round, but declined to go play for Arkansas. Andy Wilkins is current playing in rookie ball for the White Sox in Great Falls. Playing a bit above his level, he is expected to do very well and it shouldn't take long for him to earn a promotion to Kannapolis.
  8. Andy Wilkins continues to rake... He went 3/4 with a 2B, HR, RBI, and a BB. AVG up to .341 with .431 OBP, and an outstanding .992 OPS. This dude is out performing the competition by a lot. 16 BB to 12 K is nice.
  9. I went to my friends house tonight for Last Comic Standing, and found out that The Club episodes ARE indeed on Comcast On Demand. So we watch the first 2 episodes. He is not a Sox fan, but I convinced him to watch them because I knew they would have footage of Dan Hudson, Santos, and Barret Loux (He is a Dbacks fan somehow). It was a little boring w/ how much they focused on Ozzie. I wanted to see more interaction of players in the dugout, during games, and in the locker room having fun and talking. I know the show is about the management and front office, but I think less of Ozzie and Kenny and Jerry/Selig would have been more exciting. I really loved Coop in it though, he had some good jokes about Ozzie tweeting and Jeff Cox as the 3B general.
  10. I would like to thank Don Cooper for really rasing my hopes about Jackson, and feeling less pessimistic about the trade of Hudson. I'm really pumped for Wednesday night.
  11. Didn't Gilmore win the HR Derby?
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) Jackson extension? He's a Boras client so that's highly doubtful. He is? f***. That leads me to believe even more than he was to be traded for Dunn.
  13. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) Haha, they can do whatever they want. Point is they paid $50 for the same thing that diehards pay $300 for; and neither is a game-worn jersey. So really the only satisfaction the authentic guy gets is in the basement at home where he can pat himself on the back, look in the mirror and say, "You got the real thing ol' boy. Stupid posers." I saved up and bought an authentic Mags jersey when I was in High School and then lost it in a bar during cubs/sox a few years ago. If I was to get a new jersey, I would never pay 300 for it. That's just money down the toilet for a grown man to wear a boy's name on his back. Hah, so true. I only have 1 jersey that was ever bought at cost, and it's my Konerko jersey that I got for Xmas in 2005. I own like 15 jerseys, and none of them cost me more than $60 (besides my Golden Tate jersey which was $75, but again, an Xmas present). All my jerseys are 100% authentic except for 1 Carlos Quentin jersey I bought on Ebay in 2008 for $35. That one is one of those "fakes" that was mentioned about the silky material. But yeah, I currently get all my jerseys for $35 from my jersey guy.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:45 AM) Hudson had control? In the three starts I saw with us this year I saw zero control. I did notice though that in his start today with Arizona thar he only had one walk. I really liked Hudsons stuff and his make up - he is a gamer. If Jackson becomes the ace he is capable of being - I will forget Hudsons name In 217 minor league innings, Hudson had just 56 BB to 256 K. Yeah, he is a control pitcher, regardless of what he did in his first couple starts w/ us this year.
  15. As much as I really disliked the Jackson trade, and am still not a fan of it, I can't help but salivate at the idea of Coop turning this kid around control wise. Hudson had the control, but he only had decent stuff. Jackson has bad control, but amazing stuff. If Coop can get this guy to throw strikes, he will have a really awesome pitcher on our hands. I guess I saw Hudson as the safe pick, and Jackson as the high risk (contract), but very high reward type guy.
  16. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 01:29 AM) They should just release Kotsay, but I'll settle for a dl visit.
  17. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) If having Jenks pitch terribly shuts you up, I'll take it everyday. Yes, anticipating your next post, I am rooting for the Sox to lose, and Jenks to pitch terribly, just for the sole purpose of MAYBE quieting you. Just the 5% chance is enough for me. Wow, not trying to get into the middle of this, but that's a really s***ty thing to say if you are really a fan of this team. I hate Mark Kotsay a lot, but I hope he actually gets a hit when there are runners in scoring position.
  18. On another board I talk baseball on, we have a minor league thread where we all brag about our teams top prospects. Well, in talking to a Blue Jays fan, he listed the stats for their top 5 2010 draft picks this year (This, after I gloated about Sale and Petricka every chance I get. ). Anyway, he listed like 3 starting pitchers, and they all had like 3-4 starts, but no more than like 9-12 innings. I asked why his starters were relieving, and he said they are starting, but the Jays have a strict limit on 1st yr. draft picks that they can not exceed 50 pitches in a start due to having pitched in HS or college earlier in the year. I thought that was pretty smart (although hard to evaluate a starters outing if he only goes 3 innings or so). Got me thinking about if we had a cap on our starters at all. I mean, I am sure they are not to go over 95-100 pitches, but I was wondering if say, they had a perfect game going, if they would be removed after a number of pitches or if it was just up to the manager on a game-by-game basis. I noticed that Petricka has yet to exceed 5 innings this year, so I was thinking maybe a limit is 5 innings, or maybe it's something like 75 pitches or something.
  19. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Petricka to Kanny tomorrow. Awesome. 38 K to 7 BB and 25 H in 34 2/3 IP is very encouraging. So far so great with our high picks. Sale, Petricka, and Wilkins all doing awesome.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) Yep. If you claim him, you have to be ready to take on his contract. So then how often does "blocking" actually occur if the team may end up getting stuck with the player they didn't even want?
